Who: Henry and Alex
When: BACKDATED in March
What: Henry's Bday
Where: Henry's place
Status/Rating: Complete GDOC/PG-13ish
Warnings: None
Alex: He had procured a birthday cupcake. He had also procured a bottle of champagne. Granted it had technically been his birthday last year, and one time didn't a tradition make, but Henry was a traditional sort of guy and Alex liked the idea of them having some that was just for themselves. Plus, if you have to have traditions - buttercream, bubbly and blowjobs on your birthday feels like the one to start. He'd certainly enjoyed it. Remembers feeling transported and hedonistic and every bit his age and wonders how Henry remembers that weekend in New York. He knocks, because this is a date even if he has a key and it feels right, and holds up the cupcake box with a grin.
Henry: Henry had every intention to just spend his birthday with himself and order take out. It was just another day and plus, his family never really celebrated it anyway because there were other important matters. Other than a cake and happy birthdays it was really nothing. But, Alex had said he had a cupcake and that they could do better than dinner and nothing. He had to laugh at that. So he invited Alex over and they would just see where the night would lead. It was his birthday but he just wanted to spend it with Alex, it would be perfect. Hearing a knock on the door, he put the remote down as he was trying to find a movie. As he approached it, he opened and smiled. “Well, hello there.” He said with a smirk. “You know. You could have used your key.” He said as he took the box.
Alex: "This felt more officially birthday date like," with the knocking and the cupcake box and the bottle of champagne. Particularly as they were going to stay in and basically Netflix and Chill. He leaned in to kiss the other man in greeting, "Happy birthday. I brought bubbles."
Henry: He smiled at him and nodded his head. “I do enjoy opening up the door to see you standing there.” He said as he stood to the side to let him in. Kissing him back he looked at him. “Thank you. I’ll get us a couple glasses.” At that point David came over to greet Alex as Henry walked to the kitchen. “I hope that you don’t mind that I ordered sushi and salad.”
Alex: "Sushi and salad sound perfect," plus it was Henry's birthday so he could order whatever he wanted. He didn't follow right away, stooping to greet David first with a friendly ear scratch and a chin rub that the dog seemed to enjoy. "Hello buddy, how are you?" The dog snuffled and huffed happily and then followed Henry toward the kitchen so Alex closed the door and went as well. "Did you pick a movie too?"
Henry: Nodding his head. “Good. Cause I had a craving for it for some reason.” He said with a small chuckle. As David followed behind Alex, Henry opened up the bottle of bubbly and poured the two glasses and handed one to Alex. “No, I didn’t. I just couldn’t decide. There’s a ton of movies that I always enjoy watching.”
Alex: "You don't want to try something new?" He was fine with watching a favorite too, or binge watching a random tv show. It was Henry's birthday so he got to pick what they did. "We could watch Bake-off." He is only sort of teasing. They both like GBBO.
Henry: “We could always see what is on. There are a ton of movies that are out currently.” He said with a smile on his face. “Or…..some students of mine keep talking about this other reality show. Love is blind? Apparently they say this current season is a real riot.” He said. “We could give that a try. I’m sorry that I didn’t feel like going out. You know me, I’m a homebody” he chuckled.
Alex: "Don't apologize for wanting to stay in on your birthday." Hell Alex would probably want to stay in on his birthday in a couple weeks too. Plus as much as he liked going out sometimes he loved staying in with Henry, curling up on the couch together. "I've never watched Love is Blind but if your students are raving about it we'll have to give it a try so you can tell them you did."
Henry: “I alway think that a nice evening in, we could avoid crowds and somehow I could see you telling a waiter that it’s my birthday and get people to sing dreadfully.” Chuckling while looking at Alex. “I do have to keep up with film and TV. They all just think I sit at home and read which isn’t entirely wrong but still.” He then heard the doorbell ring and went to answer it where the food was delivered. Henry tipped him and then came back into the dining room and started to unpack everything onto the table.
Alex: "I would never," he actually wouldn't making a spectacle of Henry like that in public didn't really appeal to him. Not even here where it wouldn't matter, Henry might be comfortable being out but he was still fairly reserved (particularly compared to Alex) and private. "Love is Blind it is then, and then I will introduce you to Botched. You'll love it."
Henry: He looked over at him and smirked as he prepared the sushi and put them on a tray so they could enjoy dinner in the living area. “Well, there is another reason why I love you.” He said as he gave Alex a kiss before going into the living room and setting the tray down. “Botched? Sounds absurd.” He said with a smile.
Alex: “I hope there’s lots of reasons why you love me,” he grabbed their drinks and the cupcake box, and followed Henry into the living room to join him. “Botched is occasionally absurd, it’s two plastic surgeons helping people fix bad plastic surgery.”
Henry: “oh there are. But you are going to have to wait to hear them all.” He said as he sat down on the couch. “After all. Your birthday is coming up pretty soon.” He said with a smirk. “Oh? That does sound intriguing.” He said as he took the remote and started to put it on love is blind. “I never really get these type of shows”
Alex: "They really change lives sometimes." Sometimes it was superficial stuff, and sometimes it was obvious absurd reality TV crap but there were enough people who really needed help. And really had their lives changed that it was worth it for Alex. He liked to see that, see people change lives. It reminded him that sometimes something as small as a surgery could change someones whole outlook. "I don't know anything about this show." Plus, love was categorically not blind most of the time.
Henry: “I can see that. It makes me feel bad that people actually need to get plastic surgery fixed.” He said as he put a piece of sushi roll in his mouth. As he turned it to the first episode and started to watch it. He was starting to become intrigued. “I don’t know either. But it’s rather interesting so far. In pods, you don’t know what they look like. I do like this concept though.”
Alex: "Sometimes it's just really tricky surgery that no one else will do," not that, that was much better. But the guys were actually really good surgeons as far as Alex could tell. "Yeah, sort of forces you to get to know each other." It was a little like how he and Henry had texted for ever and talked on the phone. Sure they knew what they'd looked like, who didn't, but the way you had to open up because of the distance that felt the same.
Henry: "Well, that sounds very intriguing indeed. I mean if something needs to be fixed, you fix it." He said as he took a sip from his champagne. This was already a lovely way to spend his birthday. He always enjoyed low key events and he didn't have to worry about having to make anyone happy on his day. All the big spectacles for one day. This was much more relaxing. "That is true. Kind of reminds me of those dating shows back in the 60's that I would hear about where you asked questions and then in the end they picked which one to go on a date with." He sat and watched and then he shook his head. "I can already tell that Michael is just there for the fame. All he cares about is the cameras.....what a shame. And that is rude to just walk away when someone is asking you a question."
Alex: "If you have the skill, and the money." Which not everyone had in the US where they didn't have universal healthcare. He ate a piece of sushi and leaned back against the cushion of the couch next to Henry as they watched the show, just enjoying the calm quiet of being together. "Being rude n a dating show doesn't always stop you from getting the girl unfortunately."
Henry: “That is true. Americans really have it rough with healthcare. It makes me feel bad and there’s nothing that I can do about it. I see some really bad plastic surgery on people and help but wonder if it was intended or an accident” he said shrugging his shoulders. “That’s absolutely dreadful. But I do see women going for the bad boys as you would put it but this guy is just really getting on my nerves.” He said with a nervous giggle. “I hope he doesn’t last.”
Alex: "Bad boys and prince charming," he leaned over to press a kiss to the sensitive skin behind Henry's ear with a smile. "Depending on the mood." But Alex hoped he wouldn't last either, he was the sort of conceited attention seeker that always rubbed him the wrong way.
Henry: “That is a great combination. Opposites do attract” he said as he gave Alex a smirk. “And rightfully so. Although I have been in a really good mood as of lately.” “This wanker thinks he’s going to get the girl this way? If he does, I will riot because no way he can get someone telling both those girls the same thing.”
Alex: They did qualify as opposites a bit, though on no planet did Alex qualify as a bad boy even if Henry did fulfill the prince charming trope wonderfully. Beyond Alex's wildest dreams in fact. "Unfortunately it is entirely possible he could get both telling them the exact same thing." The straights were not okay and assholes did far better than they had any right to do with women. "The number of guys I've had to warn off Nora for similar behavior..."
Henry: Thinking that he himself was right when it came to opposites attracting. Him and Alex were way different from each other and yet, he wouldn’t have it any other way. He truly loved him. “That is just utterly pathetic. I mean he’s not even that good looking and for him to try and get two girls and become a player.” He said with a laugh as he ate his sushi. “Have to say that this is a great birthday.” He said placing his hand on Alex’s and massaging it a little bit.
Alex: "Yeah but he's picked well, neither of those women have particularly high self esteem." It was easier to prey on the ones who wanted more desperately for the attention, who didn't think they deserved or would find it somewhere else. "You're used to women like your sister and Nora. My mom. Take no shit women. Women who know their worth, value themselves. A man playing those sort of games wouldn't get anywhere." But too many women (and honestly a lot of men too) had been brainwashed by society and men into thinking less of their own worth, so assholes had an in. But that was a terrible topic for Henry's birthday, he turned to kiss his boyfriend. "I'm glad you're enjoying it, I could have planned something but since it's a school night I figured you'd want to stay in anyway."
Henry: “I think that most of these girls don’t have very high self esteem. They receive one compliment and they melt in these guys hands.” He had said as he took a bite from his salad. “I think if these women saw their worth they would see how some of these guys are just playing them. Maybe at least one of them will be strong.” Returning Alex’s kiss he snuggled up against him. It wasn’t that he had to work the next morning or anything but he liked being a homebody. He didn’t have a massive schedule and be tired all the time and having to wave to people everyday. “You still could have. I mean it’s not really a school night and you know my insomnia” he laughed. “How about we do something for your birthday coming up.”
Alex: "Maybe a couple of them will decide to be lesbians." Weirder things had happened, look at them! Love was supposed to be blind right? "I could have but I also thought you'd prefer this," he knew Henry and since it was his birthday it only seems fair. "I was thinking about going to a movie on my birthday if you're interested in joining me."
Henry: That made him laugh and that included tossing his head back. "Oh man, that would be great to see. But, I doubt that." He watched closely as one of the couples were discussing looks. "Okay, is my vision suddenly not clear. She most certainly does not look like Megan Fox. He's going to be in for a rude awakening if he picks her." "You know me so well. Back home I would have endure a big party that I never wanted in the first place. This is actually the first time I can sit and relax with my boyfriend, watch some netflix, have a good dinner and just relax." He then nodded, "I would be honored to join her for a movie on your birthday." He said as he grabbed Alex's hand and held it.
Alex: "Or not, if he actually likes her regardless of her looks. Isn't that the point? That it shouldn't matter?" He knew it often did matter, but that seemed to be the trope for this show. To see if people would fall in love sight unseen and stay that way once they'd actually seen each other. "I would have had a quiet dinner with my folks, and Nora. Probably Zahra." It was close enough to their new years bash that they didn't usually do anything major for his birthday. "Or No and I would have gone somewhere. We went to Cancun one year, let the paps think we were back together. Spending all our time in a cabana having sex, but we were mostly watching old movies."
Henry: “I know that….but look at how he responded when he guessed Megan Fox. I mean, now he has somewhat of a look but that’s not really truthful so when he sees that her looks don’t match…..but she does have a great personality.” He had said. After finishing his dinner, he grabbed his glass of champagne and snuggled into Alex. This was actually a pretty good show. “That all sounds fantastic. I wish my birthdays were quiet like that. But, now they can.” He then laughed at the story about Nora. “That’s hilarious. I bet the tabloids just went crazy.”
Alex: "They did," they always had when the two of them had done some misleading, it had been amusing how they always seemed to fall for it. Every time. "Like were were constantly calling it off and getting back together. Messy when we had other partners." He laughed and shook his head and he pulled Henry close and tipped his head against the lighter one.
Henry: "I can only imagine that." He said as he sighed. "Makes me think of all the tabloids when I would go on vacation and would get pictured with girls wondering if I've found the one....little did they know." At least the girls kept up the appearances for his sake. "So if you were single....would you ever go for a show like this? I always do feel bad that all the people are skinny and pretty. Like it's not realistic to me. I know they do have some plus size people but not like plus size plus size. I don't know, I guess I just think that everyone deserves to find love."
Alex: "They never wondered if I'd found the one. They really thought I was a man slut." He didn't exactly roll his eyes, particularly considering much he hadn't gotten laid but that had been the perception and he hadn't ever tried to stop them from thinking it. "Like, me Alex, anonymous PolySci guy from Austin getting a law degree at Georgetown or Me the First Son?" Not that the answer would be different, he wouldn't do it. He'd always sort of assumed he'd be in the public eye on his own, outside his parents, but not like this.
Henry: “In the royal family that are always wanting us to find the one. It got exhausting. And most of the girls only wanted to be with me because I was the Prince. I wanted to find love and I wasn’t allowed to be myself.” He then laughed. “You a man whore? Noooooo” he smirked. “Alex, I never looked at you as the first son. It’s always been the real you. So as the real you if you weren’t the first son. Would you do something like that show?” He said looking at him.
Alex: "Oh come on, you looked at me as the First Son at least a little until we got to know each other." Back when all they knew was what was in the tabloids and each other's nondisclosure packets. "But no. Not even plain old Alex would do it. I wanted a life in public service. Think of all the personalities who became politicians. Most of them weren't ever really respected for their politics."
Henry: "Okay, so in the beginning you were known as the first son. But, ever since I truly got to know you, I fell in love with Alex Claremont-Diaz, not the first son. I assume you fell for me as Henry Fox and not just Prince Henry." He said looking at him. "And good, cause same for me. Even if I wasn't the Prince of England, I would rather find love the old fashioned way. And I would still be a writer in Paris." He said as he went back to the show. "Awww we got our first couple. That is so sweet."
Alex: "You stopped being the prince around the time you started mocking me about my turkey phobia," the 'asshole' was left unspoken, though it was said with love. Obviously. He bent his head to brush his lips over Henry's light and teasing, a soft smile on his face. "You're sweet."
Henry: "Oh man, the turkey. Should we just start calling it Turkeygate? Or perhaps the haunting of the turkey?" He said with a questioning look on his face as he gave an airy chuckle. He kissed Alex on the cheek. "I promise you won't have to endure that here." He looked over at Alex with a look. "Why Alex Claremont-Diaz, you better stop teasing." He said with a smile. "And that is only because you bring out the best in me. And I say that honestly."
Alex: "It's not funny," but he would vote for Turkeygate. He shuddered theatrically. "The gobbling, Henry. I can hear the gobbling." He bent to kiss him again, less gentle and teasing but still playful as he smiled back., "It's mutual Henry, that's why we work so well."
Henry: By that time he was full on belly laughing, "Oh it was funny. I wish I was actually there to see it." He then stopped and cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be laughing at that. Being afraid of turkeys is a legitimate fear, so my apologies." Returning the kiss he sighed. He was sure they were not going to get through this show and that was fine. He just wanted to spend time with Alex on his birthday. "I will agree to that." He then looked up at Alex with a questionable look on his face and asked, "Soooo did the turkey sound like this?" He brought it back as he gobbled like a turkey playing with Alex.
Alex: He laughed despite himself, and shoved Henry away playfully, but still managed to move back to the other side of the couch. Teasing and obviously not actually angry but hey, it was still not THAT funny. When he came back it was with a pillow to whack his beloved. "I see how you are your Highness."
Henry: When he got gently shoved away, he began to wonder what was going to happen next. He saw Alex grab a pillow and he shook his head. "Oh no, you don't. You wouldn't dare hit a prince with a pillow." He said pointing at it and gave a chuckle. "At least you know the proper name now." He said with a smile. "Just know, I have great reflexes."
Alex: "It's your birthday, I figured I should make a point to get it correct." But that wouldn't stop him from hitting a prince with a pillow. In fact he'd hit the man with a pillow before. That night in his room, he flushed a little remembering and the blow softened as it turned into less of a pillow fight and more of a pillow shove with Alex coming down on top of his boyfriend. "And I'm intimately familiar with your reflexes." he tossed the pillow away so he could kiss Henry.
Henry: "Oh? So you only said it because it's my birthday huh?" He grabbed the pillow and then made a shocked face. He remembered their little debacle when they had first met and it made him smile. He noticed the look at Alex's facea and was prepared for his next move. But then it was a shove and not a hit and he landed with his back on the couch. He let out a small yelp. Looking up at Alex he laughed. "Well, I didn't see that move coming." He said as he returned the kiss. Running his finger through his hair.
Alex: "Got to keep you on your toes," he waggled his eyebrows and settled comfortably on top of the blonde, obviously not intending to move any time soon as he snuggled (there was so other word for it) closer and bent to nuzzle Henry's jaw.
Henry: "You always keep me on your toes." He said as he laid on the couch looking up at Alex. When he snuggled into him and nuzzled his jaw he let out a little moan. "Was this your intent all along? You use pillow fighting as a way to seduce me huh?" He said sarcastically.
Alex: "Nope, just a pleasant by product." He nipped gently at Henry's skin, and bent to inhale his scent where his neck met his shoulder and wondered if he'd ever stop finding these spots, and curves that fascinated him. He pressed his lips there and and let his eyes close because they seemed to fit in that spot so perfectly, "Like they were made for it..." It wasn't an obsession when it was your boyfriend, right? Asking for a friend.
Henry: Giving an airy chuckle his face blushed a little bit. “Oh? And I hope that the product is to your liking.” He said flirting back a little bit. He let Alex do what he wanted as he let out some soft moans. Alex did have the magic touch. Wrapping his arms around Alex’s neck he let out a soft sigh. “I love you.” He honestly couldn’t say it enough he felt.
Alex: He trailed his lips up to that spot behind Henry's ear, then along the line of his jaw, brushed noses in an eskimo kiss and let his forehead touch Henry's lightly so he was looking at him. "I love you more," there was no saying it too much but then he still woke up sometimes a little shocked that he got to have this, and a little scared he was going to find out he'd dreamed it.
Henry: He was enjoying this part of his birthday. He always knew where his sweet spots were. He closed his eyes as he used his sense of touch and feeling. Then he opened his eyes and looked up at Alex. “That’s always up for debate.” He said with a chuckle. He ran his hand through Alex’s hair. “Have I told you that I just love these curls.” He said with a smile. Then he planted a sincere kiss on his lips.
Alex: "So I shouldn't get it cut?" He liked the way Henry's hands felt in his hair, even if it was getting a little shaggy and he really had been thinking about getting it cut. If letting it get longer and curl meant Henry ran his fingers through it he'd leave it long.
Henry: As he kept running his fingers through his hair he looked up at him. "This length is just fine. I don't think I could ever imagine you with longer hair. But the curls, are necessary." He said with a smile. "And plus, the casual look really does suit you very much." He said as he leaned up and started to kiss Alex once again.
Alex: "Noted," he leaned into the kiss, letting his weight blanket the other man as he wrapped himself around him like he might never let him go. And maybe he wouldn't. Honestly he had no intention of doing so. "Happy birthday baby."
Henry: “Hey, that’s my line.” He said with a chuckle. He enjoyed them cuddling on the couch like this. Being normal and living a good life. He didn’t want Alex to let him go….ever. “Thank you sweetheart.” He then gave a sigh as he looked at his cake that Alex brought. “I don’t think I can eat that tonight. That sushi filled me up.” He said as he started laughing.
Alex: He didn't have to worry, now that he had him Alex had no intention of letting go, not if he had any choice in the matter. "Cupcake is the breakfast of champions."
Henry: "Is that what they say? I guess I could always think of it as a decorative muffin." He said laughing. "And it would go perfect with a cup of tea too." He said with a smile. As he wrapped his arms around Alex and let out a little groan. This felt nice and he didn't want to move. In fact if they fell asleep like this, Henry would not mind at all.
Alex: He was completely fine with falling asleep like this, "Part of the fun is acknowledging the cup cakiness of it I think. Despite the breakfast hour." But the dark chocolate probably would be good with that tea Henry favored. He nuzzled closed, shifting so his weight wasn't quite all entirely on Henry and his cheek rested against his shoulder.
Henry: "Oh....the cup cakiness of it huh? Either way, it will be good to share in the morning. Don't you think?" He said looking up at him. "I mean, I can't let you leave on an empty stomach." Just laying there and holding each other on the couch, this was the best birthday that he has ever had. He never had feelings for anyone like he had for Alex. He shifted a little bit. "You know, and I'm not talking right now. But, we're gonna have to separate for a little while to put on more comfy clothes. And then back to this magical cuddle session." He said with a smile. "By the way, this is the best birthdays I have ever had. It might even be number one."
Alex: "You don't have to share your birthday cupcake," he wouldn't turn it down but he'd gotten it for Henry, he lifted his head enough to kiss his jaw, then his lips softly. "I suppose if we have to get up, then maybe we should relocate to the bedroom too just because if we sleep on this couch we may not be able to walk tomorrow."
Henry: “No…..I want to. Cause there’s no way I can eat that by myself” he said with a chuckle. He returned the kiss and groaned a little. “I guess you are correct on that.” He then groaned as he sat up and stretched before turning off the TV and putting his hand out for Alex to take. “Shall we then? I kind of was enjoying all that cuddling.” He said looking at him with a smile.
Alex: "More cuddling," he took the offered hand as he stood up, leaning in for another kiss before grabbing some of their dinner dishes to clean up their mess. "Just as soon as we're in bed. Birthday promise."
Henry: “Yes, more cuddling. And honestly I have never been cuddled the way that you cuddle me. It feels more intimate than making love.” He said with a shy expression. He helped to clean up the mess and returned his kiss. Rinsing off the dishes and placing them into the dishwasher. “Good…..and I’ll make sure to return the favor with anything you want to do for your birthday.” He said as he linked their fingers together.
Alex: "It is," you could sleep with anyone. Okay not everyone could or did, but you didn't have to be in love. Hell he and Henry hadn't been in love the whole time when they were getting naked all over half the hemisphere at home. "Sometimes sex is just about sex. Cuddling is always about more." He put the cupcake in the fridge and with the last of their dinner cleaned up wrapped his arms around Henry's waist. "I want to go to the movies, and eat popcorn and terrible nachos and make out in the last row."
Henry: As Alex wrapped his arms around him he gave a pleasant sigh and tilted his head and placed it on his shoulders. Listening to Alex's birthday wishes that made him giggle a little bit. "That's all? Then your wish is my command. Any movie in particular that you are wanting to see?" He said as he untangled himself and looked at Alex.
Alex: He considered, finding Henry's hand and tangling their fingers so he could tug him in the direction of his bedroom. "Something with a car chase, or a heist. Any action movie that doesn't have furious in the title."
Henry: Taking Alex's hand and heading towards the bedroom he nodded his head. "Okay, so no furious movies, but lots of action. I think that can be arranged." He said with a smile as he entered the room and then started to undress and put his plaid pajama pants on, going and brushing his teeth he popped his head out. "So what about dinner? Anything in particular that you want to eat for your birthday? I can make reservations."
Alex: "After terrible nachos, red vines and our body weight in popcorn, I don't think we're going to need dinner." He laughed, as he stripped down to his boxers, it always amused him that Henry slept in full pajamas and if he wore anything it was usually his boxers. Or in the winter a t-shirt and lounge pants. He went into the bathroom to brush his own teeth, and washed his face (you did not get skin like this without a beauty regime thank you) and then padded back to bed to slip under the covers.
Henry: “You…..you do have a point there.” He said laughing as he finished brushing his teeth. Grabbing the bottle of lotion he began to spread it over his arms and face. After he had gotten himself ready for bed he turned off the bathroom light and then crawled into bed beside Alex. When he got himself comfortable he snuggled up against him. “This feels nice and warm. I always seem to freeze at night.” He said chuckling.
Alex: "Good thing I'm always warm," he wrapped his arms around Henry and shifted sliding one leg over Henry's so they were almost as close as they had been on the couch only without having crawled on top of the blonde again. Mostly. His lips grazed Henry's jaw, "Happy birthday baby. HOpe it was a good one."
Henry; As they were wrapped up in each other, Henry planted a kiss on Alex’s lips. “Thank you. It was the best day/evening ever.” He said as he snuggled up against him as he yawned. “Thank you for helping me making it perfect. I love you.” He said as he closed his eyes and relaxed.
Alex: "Love you more," Alex said, almost automatically at this point, eyes closed and his cheek resting lightly against Henry's shoulder.
