Genya, much to her own surprise, had managed not to wallow in grief completely since she'd arrived. She'd gotten out, met people, tried to explore this very strange place a little. Of course David was always on her mind, but she was still young and had a live worth of living still ahead of her. Perhaps her life would not be what she'd hoped, but she'd still had one, and there were things that she could do to at least make herself useful. Perhaps Nikolai could even set her on tasks to keep her mind off of her grief. It seemed the best way to get through it right now.
When she got the invitation from Nikolai, she'd immediately accepted. He was her King, and her friend, and while she didn't know him as well or as deeply as Zoya did, she had spent a great deal of time with him over the past few years.
She hadn't quite managed to adopt the modern fashion yet, but the blue dress she wore wasn't quite as old-fashioned as she usually wore. She arrived at the Red Pepper only a few moments after Nikolai, and gave him a rare smile.
"Good evening, your majesty." She was, of course, teasing a little as she didn't usually call him that.
