Nico missed Will. Over the past months, he'd forgotten how dark his life could become without the brightness his boyfriend gave to them both. He was the sun, and Nico was feeling more and more like a shadow in this place. He probably needed to get help, but how did you explain to a human psychiatrist that a lot of your problems were literally because you were the son of the God of the Dead? He was pretty sure they'd commit him right away, if he started talking like that. Plus, Nico hated talking about his problems. He was an antisocial kind of guy, enough so that he was pretty sure counseling would be pointless for him. Or maybe he was wrong. Who knew.
What mattered now was that he was very lonely. Yes, there'd been some ghosts around, like there always were, but they wanted things from him. One wanted him to solve its murder. Another wanted him to take a message to a loved one. On and on. If he actually listened to them, he'd have no time to himself at all, so he'd silenced them, which had clearly made them all angry at him. But at least they'd gone away for the moment.
He was sitting on the riverbank, arms resting on his knees. He was wearing a black shirt and black jeans, with black boots. He had a silver skull ring on one finger and his Stygian iron sword - which almost seemed to eat light - lay at his side.
He heard someone approaching and almost cringed a little, understanding the irony in the fact that he was so lonely and yet hearing someone approach made him almost get up and leave.
Make up your mind, Nico. Do you want friends or not? If you do, you have to at least talk to people.
Taking a chance, he looked up at the girl, and waved. He hoped his aura of darkness and despair that he'd inherited from his father wasn't going to scare her away.
"Hey," he said. Not great. But at least it was a start.
