Daryl had been in Madison about a month now and had spent much of that time either at the farm or getting to know his new home. As much as he loved getting to spend time with Judith and Carl, he was getting that old familiar itch to be outside. Sure the farm had lots of land, but it still felt too tame for his tastes. He was thankful that there were no walkers to deal with, but that didn't change the fact that he needed his time out in the wild places.
On one of his many walks around the area, he'd found himself in what looked to be a relatively uninhabited area of woods. He could hear all kinds of things moving and living out there and decided he would explore it the first chance he got. He had no idea what the hunting laws were, or if there were any, so he didn't plan on actually catching or killing anything. Still, he'd taken a crossbow he'd purchased along his hunting knife that had been strapped to his belt when he found himself in Madison when he headed out that morning.
Being alone with nothing but the sounds of the woods around him was just what the hunter needed. He spent the morning just walking around. He followed tracks he found and made mental notes about the best spots for rabbit snares if he ever needed to put them out. Sometime around noon, he began to hear the sounds of a flute? Not quite, but it was definitely flute like. He decided to follow it to its source, which turned out to be a man playing what looked like a recorder to him. He stayed out of sight and just listened for a few minutes before carefully backtracking and approaching again. This time he made noise as he moved until he was in plain view. "Hey...that's real pretty soundin' music."
