After everything he had seen, surprising Ianto wasn't easy, but this place had certainly thrown him for a loop in the beginning. Of course, Jack being here had been the best news he could have gotten, but there was also something new that he had to get used to....and that was the quiet. His life before had always been busy; they had always been on the hunt, so having all of this free time certainly felt strange to him. It was the one thing that he wasn't sure that he would ever get used to, but he did his best to not complain about it too much. Instead, he was trying his best to figure out what he could find to fill up the time. Of course, he spent a lot of time with Jack, but he also understood that more of Jack's friends were here and he didn't want to keep Jack from them. And then there was also the fact that Ianto wanted to get to know some of these friends himself. After all, if these people meant something to Jack, then they would automatically mean something to him. So, when he had learned of River being here and how her and Jack were friends, Ianto had decided to invite her out for tea. That seemed like a good way for the two of them to get to know one another on even ground, and Ianto was all about making sure everyone was comfortable in these kinds of situations. If there was a one thing he had learned in his years with Torchwood, it was that people weren't about to open up if they were on edge. So, that was something he putting into practice now. Ianto was always the type to arrive early, so he had already made his way inside Starbucks and found a table for the two of them. This is where he was waiting for her, and he already had a cup of tea sitting on the table in front of him. He had been sipping on it for about half an hour, but he wasn't concerned about running out. Because if he did, he would just order another one. |
