Who: Charlie Spring & Nick Nelson What: Henry is in the Hospital Where: Charlie's House When: After this Status: gDoc Complete Rating: Low
Charlie had mostly just tried to sleep and not worry, But he wasn’t doing well at that. So instead it was netflix and lounge in bed. He was watching FRIENDS. Started from the first season. By about lunch time he was nearing the second. But he’d drifted off. True to his word he hadn’t left bed except to do necessary morning routines. Pj’s were still on though.
A text was sent to Nick. A photo of his fuzzy socks sticking out of a lump of blankets. Hi.
A moment later. Miss you.
He didn’t feel like doing much, or being around anyone that wasn’t Nick. Even if his feelings were weird and twisted up in his head about everything. – Nick was at school, in maths because of course it was maths, when the texts came in. Glancing at the teacher he slid his phone under his binder to read them and couldn’t help but smile at them.
Hi. Missed you this morning. Had to walk to class alone. – His fuzzy socks had dogs on them. All different types. Sorry :( Was it awful? He was barely paying attention to the show in front of him now. That usually happened when Nick’s messages came in. He got a little tunnel vision.
Henry’s in hospital. He wasn’t afraid to be there on his own, but he didn’t really care for it. He’d gotten used to the presence of the other man.
He frowned at his phone, was responding to the first message when the second came in.
It was fine, but I missed kissing you good morning.<3
The news about Henry sort of explained why Charlie wasn’t at school, and he was glad the other boy wasn’t sick but worried anyway.
Why? He going to be okay? Are you okay? – That caused a little smile. I missed that part too. He paused a little bit as he watched one of the episodes sort of half heartedly now. Something called Kidney Stones. Had to look it up. Should be fine in a couple days He then laid back to get a bit more comfortable.
Yeah. I’m okay, just worn out I guess. Was too tired to wake up on time. He thought for a moment and had an idea. Want to skip and come see me at lunch? He was becoming a terrible influence, but he really just wanted Nick there. – Of course I want to. The response was quick, but the agreement was slower. Nick had never skipped a class, he’d missed a few for rugby but nothing that a teacher didn’t know about.
Still, Charlie sounded not good, and Nick was weighing that against missing his last few classes.
I’ll be there in a bit. Want me to bring lunch? He was too honest a kid to just leave though, so he went to the office and officially checked himself out for lunch. – Not super hungry. Charlie responded as he put the phone down. </i>Just want to see you.</i> He’d spent a lot of energy settling into things there, eating or not eating was one of the few things he had control over. That control was something he craved.
Just come in when you get here? The house was too big for hearing door bells. – Okay, be there soon.
He wasn’t quite concerned about Charlie eating, or not, but he was realizing that the other boy didn’t seem to ever be hungry. Which was only interesting because Nick was as hungry as any average, active teenage boy. Still when he arrived he had a couple burgers, onion rings and chips from Hinkles, more than enough to share.
He also had two chocolate shakes, which he was talking about when he entered Charlie’s room as though in the middle of a conversation with him.
“I got you a chocolate shake, even if it is the less interesting choice.” – Nick coming in straight away meant Charlie didn’t have to leave the blanket fort he’d built up for himself. He was good with this. Less energy spent. Which was good, he didn’t have much to spare. The smell of food was a lot. and he made a bit of a face at first, trying not to turn pale. His body betrayed him though.
He sat up to give Nick a bit of space to join him. “Missed you. Chocolate’s fine.” He appreciated it, even if he wasn’t overly hungry. Plain was good. When he did eat, he wasn’t the most adventurous with food. “That’s that American place yeah? The burger shop?” – “Yeah,” he toed off his shoes and sat on the bed cross legged s as he spread the food out between them. “Know you said you weren’t hungry but if you want anything you’re welcome to it. Got plenty.”
Then he popped a couple chips in his mouth, “They didn’t have vinegar.” – Charlie just leaned on Nick once he joined him. Rested his cheek on his shoulder. “No vinegar is a crime against man.” He was quiet though otherwise. Looking down at the fries and food. Part of him wanted something, but the other refused it. Henry had been trying to get him to try new things here and there, but he was struggling with it just then. “Henry’s going to be away for a couple nights.” – “Right?” He agreed in a ton that clearly said: Americans what can you do and bit into his burger and chewed.
“What about you?” He didn’t even consider that Charlie might stay in the big house alone. They were both old enough that that was probably more than fine but it still felt weird.
– Charlie did decide to take a sip of the shake. Maybe it could be another safe food. Henry was helping him figure some of those out over time. He was trying. Nick went out of his way to get all that stuff. Probably mostly for him, but still. One day he’d have to tell Nick about Ben, but it was a hard topic to just bring up. “Sorry to drag you away from what was it…maths?” He was half joking. Who wouldn’t want to be pulled away from the maths?
“Dunno. May just stay here?” It was kinda creepy in that big house alone though He just wasn’t great at asking for things. His hand gently rested on Nick’s thigh, like that night at New Years. But this time not insinuating anything beyond an affectionate touch for now. – “Alone?” He frowned, for all that the TARDIS was absolutely massive on the inside it didn’t feel like it the way Henry’s house did. He noticed the hand on his thigh, of course he noticed, but it wasn’t the same and while it definitely made him feel was it didn’t do things to his insides the way it might.
“You want to stay at mine instead? Or maybe with Alex?” He added the second option because even though he fell asleep here a lot, Charlie hadn’t slept at his and belatedly he thought it might be because he didn’t want to. – It was more of a comforting touch for Charlie in this situation. He just liked being close to him. “Yeah.” Though he could agree that house was pretty huge. He didn’t really love the idea f bothering Alex. Alex should watch after Henry. “Think I need a spoon to eat this with, really.” Sipping a milkshake out of a straw was hard. At least for him. He didn’t have the most physical strength in the world.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to stay over at all. Charlie was a creature of habit. He liked that Nick came over. But he brightened a little at the mention of him coming there. “You want me there?” He had also assumed maybe Nick hadn’t wanted him there. But apparently it was in his head. –
“Of course I want you there,” he gave Charlie a look that plainly said, why would you think I wouldn’t and rummaged in the bag coming up triumphantly with a plastic spoon with a long handle. He leaned over and kissed the brunette lightly and stuck the spoon in his shake.
“I sleep here,” he went back to his burger with a shrug. Okay not usually because they planned it but they didn’t actually avoid it either. “I like spending the night.” – He returned that kiss and gave a little chuckle at just how pleased Nick was to have that spoon. He didn’t inhale his food, but he did take a few cautious bites of it. It wasn’t terrible. “Duno. Guess I got in my head a bit. Thought maybe we just came here now, which is fine too.” He paused and just gave a bit of a laugh. “Sorry. I’m weird, I know.” Charlie couldn’t finish the rest of that shake, so for a moment it was put to the side as he ran a hand through his hair awkwardly. “Why am I like this?” – “Hey,” he set his food down and caught Charlie’s hand tugging him closer so he could look at him directly, knee to knee and eye to eye. “I like you the way you are. And you’re always welcome at mine.”
He hoped he hadn’t made the other boy feel like he wasn’t, maybe his own discomfort there was rubbing off. It was a spaceship. It was weird with a capital W. And he wasn’t quite used to it yet even though his room was really normal.
“There’s a music room,” he said with a smile, tilting his head a little closer. “And a library. And a water park. I think there might be a pterodactyl living there.” – Charlie looked at him, a small smile tugging into his lips as Nick took his hand . “We always come here, which I don't mind. But I thought you preferred it. “ He gave a little shrug as he inched closer and closer.
“You had me at pterodactyl. “A tease as when he got closer, he gave him a kiss. It was a quick one at first. Just to see where this was going. – “I thought you preferred it,” there were a lot more people at Nick’s though you didn’t really ever have to see any of them. He returned the kiss, light at first and then deeper, bringing a hand up to cup Charlie’s jaw.
“Have a couple hours until I’m supposed to be home from school though.” He teased leaning back to pop a chip in his mouth, chewing with a grin. Then he was kissing him again, lunch and the homework he’d brought for both of them momentarily forgotten. – “I just thought..” He laughed softly and kissed him back, that thought running away and vanishing with the touch of his boyfriend’s lips to his own. He was not complaining at all. In fact all thoughts of complaints of any kind had vanished when that kiss deepened. Food momentarily forgotten as Nick stole his breath away, and he was left trying to catch it.
“Have you.Guess we’d better make use of it then.” He let him finish that chip before kissing him again. This place was starting to suck a lot less now that Nick was there.
