The High Fae couldn't say he loved his life in Madison Valley, but he had a good friend in Raelle, a girlfriend he adored (and probably loved, but he didn't feel ready to utter those words, not after his time Under the Mountain), and a job and a house he both liked. But the human world, especially this new version of Madison, still overwhelmed the half-Illyrian at times. And subsisting on food that would never taste good sounded like a dreary existence. Perhaps he should finally reach out to magic users. And to Raelle because they hadn't caught up lately.
But tonight he wanted time in the woods. They felt the most like home to the High Lord while he tried to navigate what an entire holiday centred around food meant for him. He stood still, closed his eyes, and breathed in deeply the scent of pine, the cleanliness of a light snowfall drifting and an ache occurred. Rhys would give anything to get back home for a few days, even if only to the Winter Court.
He should probably ask Mads what holiday she celebrated, since Solstice quickly approached.
