Kaz and Inej
Following their conversation on the network, the two made their way to the abandoned building in Madison where the movie marathon was being held. Neither of them had ever experienced anything like this and not surprising they were both on their guard as they handed over their tickets and ventured through the "tame" haunted house.
It was nothing like Kaz had ever seen and he was curious (as well as slightly amused) at the decorations and figures that popped out at them, attempting to scare them. Given what Inej and him had faced, the figures and decorations didn't even make Kaz nervous, but the fingers of his gloved hand remained wrapped around Inej's. He knew that the haunted house was meant for children right now and that if they ventured at night, it would potentially be far scarier (with the chance of triggering some not so pleasant memories for either of them).
Emerging, Kaz scanned the space, taking in the patrons ordering their popcorn, drinks, and other snacks in costumes along with the children decked out in theirs, tugging at their hands for a taste of whatever treat their parents were in the process of ordering. The sight only served to remind Kaz that he'd never truly had those innocent moments with his parents and that any he'd had with Jordie were cut short because of Rollins. He had to force himself to focus on Inej, the feeling of her warm fingers in his, to quell the boiling of his blood.
"Would you like something to eat before we go watch the films?" Kaz asked, looking over at the young woman beside him. "I'll get you anything you wish." Kaz's gaze was intense, heavy, as it always tended to be when it came to Inej. The weight of his feelings nearly impossible to conceal in the depths of his eyes. Not that he was truly trying to these days, at least not when it was just the two of them.
