Who: Hannah Lewis and Angelina Dawes What: Random Encounter (Match-Up) When: October 9th, midday Where: Starbucks Warnings: None, probably Status: Incomplete
Hannah dropped out of the sky like a meteor, but slowed abruptly before she hit the ground. She felt the g-forces of deceleration tugging at her, though they didn't harm her any more than the cold above the atmosphere. She landed on the ground as lightly as if she'd stepped off the curb. Three-point superhero landings were pointless and showy.
She entered a Starbucks. There were other coffee shops in Madison, and she usually preferred one of those. But she'd looked around as she returned to the city and saw that the other shops were busy. At the moment the Starbucks was in a lull between rushes, the last customer just exiting with his drink. No other customers were in line so she stepped up to the counter.
She looked up at the menu sign for a moment, then shook her head at the terminology. "Your largest hot black coffee, please," she said to the woman behind the counter. She rubbed her hands together. The cold vacuum didn't hurt but she could feel the cold nonetheless, and it lingered.
"So," she said, "the sun's still out there. I checked."
