Who: Adam, Savannah, Eve, Kristof plus Evie and Robbie (future kids) What: grandparents meet their grandkids Where: Vasic’s and Sav’s When: afternoon of the 12th Warnings: probably none Status: g-doc
Once Sav and Adam managed to get their future kids fed (and she and Vasic what the fucked a few times while flailing to make said breakfast), she reached out to Eve and Kristof to come meet their grandkids over lunch. At least she and Vasic could order lunch for all six of them.
She couldn’t help but smile (and sigh) at how rambunctious the twins were.
“Your grandparents will be here soon. No more tattling on each other, because snitches get stitches. and Robbie please remember that if your sister says don’t touch her you stop. Consent matters.” The witch poured herself more coffee, wishing for espresso.
This might be the first time Eve decided being a ghost was a good thing. This way she didn’t have to have a huge fuck-off sword around children and worry about it. Of course, she was worried about plenty of other things. The biggest one was that she and Kris were dead back home. If these kids were from home, they probably wouldn’t know them - unless somehow the Fates had actually grown some sort of heart and that wasn’t very likely. And then, of course, there was the whole fact she’d just spoken to Kristof at the beginning of the month about dating Matt. The whole thing had left her feeling a mix of complicated emotions, but ultimately she knew she could pursue her thing with Matt without feeling most of the guilt she carried with her. That guilt right now, though, was pretty high since Eve knew her daughter knew she and Kris were together back home, even though they were dead as doornails.
She stood outside of the house and looked around for Kris. She was going to make him come in with her at the same time.
Kristof was well used to kids showing up by now, but it was always a special brand of nerve-wracking when it was his grandchildren. And even moreso when they were new ones. That wasn’t stopping him from looking forward to it, though. After all, these kids were family.
Though he’d freely admit to being grateful that Eve was already there when he arrived. “You know, meeting the grandkids is always an adventure. I’d say these kids couldn’t be as bad as a couple of Sean’s but. Well,” he said with a laugh as he approached her. “I could be lying.”
Constance and Felix were terrifying. Well, Constance was, Felix not so much. And Mindy was adorable, but he just knew she’d be a handful someday. Considering the adults in her life, how could she not be?
“So… here we go then.”
Or something.

Adam was also very grateful that Eve was currently in ghost mode and without the giant sword. Even though Savannah was an adult and perfectly capable of making her own choices, a part of him worried that he might find himself on the business end of that sword at the mere notion that he had knocked up Eve’s baby girl. After some flailing to Nick and Kate, the latter who informed him that she knew the twins back home, he managed to calm himself enough to be outwardly his normal, goofy self, making the kids laugh and trying to keep Savannah calm.
It was going to be a long week. All the potential kids that he’d met through the years, and these were the most nerve wracking since they were far more probable to actually exist some day.
He opened the door and offered Eve and Kristof a weak smile. “Hey, come on in,” he said. “The kids are thrilled about meeting you guys for real.” He hadn’t entirely understood the whole explanation they gave, but it sounded like Evie and Rob did somewhat know their grandparents back home.
*** The idea of Eve being upset that someday Sav might have a child with Adam mildly amused the brunette. She and Adam belonged together and her parents seemed pretty accepting. Of course, her experience might differ a little bit than Adam’s given they were her parents. Sav did appreciate the lack of a large sword around her twins who seemed very excitable.
Thankfully, Nick helped Adam which in turn made Sav a little less anxious.
“Gramma!” Rob threw himself at Eve in a hug. Sav had to admit she found the hug adorable. “Hey Mom. Hi Dad.” The tall brunette hugged them both. “I thought we could order in some food?”
Eve had thought she’d been prepared, but she wasn’t. When Rob hugged her, she instinctively opened her arms and hugged him back. She wasn’t prone to being openly emotional, but she did look back at Kristof which was her silent ‘oh my God’. With an extra little squeeze, she pulled back. “Look how tall you are.” Not that she had seen him grow up or anything. “Hopefully your parents are treating you well or grandpa and I will have to bring you out for ice cream or something.” Yes, she was not above spoiling the children and then handing them back over to their parents.
“Hi.” She greeted Savannah, her smile warm from the grandchild hug. “Food sounds good. I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to hear all about what Robbie and Evie are into.”
Kristof knew that expression on Eve’s face for what it was. He was surprised in his own right – no, not surprise. Taken aback? Startled? Hell, he didn’t know. All he did know was that he wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity for time with his family.
Though he was on board with the whole spoiling the kids thing. Sugar them up, send them home. Probably not what most people would expect from him, but for his grandkids? He’d defy expectations happily.
“Oh, I definitely want to hear about what they’re into,” Kristof said. “How could I not?”

“That does NOT mean you demonstrate your magic,” Adam spoke up immediately. Several items of furniture had already been singed or otherwise damaged. Apparently adding his demon blood to their magical powers gave any fire related spells a boost and naturally both kids had been excited to show off to their parents.
It was going to be a long week with these two and he was grateful that, at least so far, neither he or Savannah seemed to have other kids in town this time around. He had a feeling that they often had their hands full, especially when their two schemed with Paige and Lucas’s son.
*** Savannah watched as the twins’ faces fell. “But,” she quickly cut off her daughter. “No buts.” At this rate she and Adam would require new furniture when their children got sent home.
She loved how powerful they were, but maybe a little less show and a little more tell. “Well, from what I can tell, mayhem,” Sav commented dryly, fingers running through her son’s hair. Her parents would undoubtedly spoil the kids, but she would make clear absolutely no magic indoors, especially with fire.
–
Eve’s expression also looked a little disappointed. She’d love to see her grandchildren do magic and she decided at some point to encourage them to try, even if she had to take them outside in secret to see what they could do. Yep, Eve was going to be that grandparent.
“I wonder who they get them from.” Eve deadpanned back. She didn’t know Adam growing up, but she knew her daughter. Even after she died, Eve watched her daughter grow up and all the chaos that followed her - some of which hadn’t been Savannah’s fault and others which definitely had.
She looked at the two children. “Have they told you any stories of them when they were younger? Because I have a few fun ones to tell…”
–
And to be fair, Kristof would probably encourage them, too. Not that he was a bad influence or anything, but like he was going to pass on that opportunity?
Kristof wouldn’t mind hearing those stories, either – very little of his time with Savannah had been when she was a child – but he certainly wasn’t going to voice that and bring the moment down. He was, however, going to stifle a smile.
“Welcome to parenthood,” he said dryly to his daughter and Adam. “You’ve always got that one relative willing to tell all the good stories. Bright side, you want stories about their Uncle Sean, I’ve got you covered.”

While Eve might have a few stories about foolish things Adam did in his life, he was far more concerned with the stories that Paige might tell his children about his youth. Not that he was going to say that out loud and give the kids any ideas.
“We should probably keep them away from Nick,” Adam joked instead. “I feel like there’s no possible way he would be a good influence on our children.”
Evie smirked, looking very much like her mother. “Sometimes Kate and Logan babysit us,” she shared. Adam closed his eyes. Yup, that was a migraine starting.
*** Savannah would give Adam quite the look if he mentioned foolish things he did when he was young. The kids didn’t need any additional ammunition. At all.
“I don’t know. He’s been doing okay when he babysits Nita. On the other hand, he’s rightfully more scared of Karl than he is of you,” Savannah teased her boyfriend.
“Nick’s looking better and better now, isn’t he?” she quipped as her son said, “Grandpa! Watch this!” Ah well, there went another piece of furniture. Her daughter looked exactly like Sav in that moment and she found it way funnier than she should, considering. “Please. Stop. Burning. Down. Our. Furniture.”
It shouldn’t have been as funny as it was, but Eve couldn’t help but smile a little in amusement. To her credit, she tried to keep the smile small so as to not encourage them too much. She did, however, cast a small spell to take away the oxygen over the fire and it died out quickly - she had Madison to thank for that spell.
“Maybe you can take them out somewhere like the Training Terrain. They can practice without forcing you to redesign your house. Though it is very impressive.” She winked at her grandchildren.
And here Kristof thought he had his hands full with Brie and Wyatt. He was in agreement with Eve, though – it was impressive. At the same time, he wasn’t going to encourage the inadvertent destruction of any more of Savannah and Adam’s property.
Well, not much, anyway.
He couldn’t help enjoying the moment, though, because it gave him a weird random flash of what it would’ve been like having small child Savannah around.
“Either Training Terrain or my place,” he said. “I’ve got the property space for it.”
***
“That might be fun,” Adam remarked, grateful that the fire went out quickly and without his intervention. He wasn’t sure which spellcaster he had to thank for that. “And then they can spend time with their…” he trailed off, cocking his head to the side. “Aunt and Uncle?” he said, the question clear in his tone. “Not cousins, right?”
The age differences and time travel and everything else weird about Madison Valley made relationships kind of confusing sometimes.
*** Sav couldn’t really get too annoyed with her parents, given how Savannah could be. Of course, Kristof didn’t experience his daughter’s childhood, but no matter. She knew how energetic and enthusiastic she could be.
“I think Training Terrain sounds good.” Her son looked happy. “I want to go see my aunt and uncle! And practice my powers!” Robbie didn’t look put out at all by his mother’s exasperation. Well, at least she didn’t feel guilt.
Eve was pretty sure she’d have a headache if she tried to family-tree things too much. Besides, since she understood that the children, unfortunately, were not permanent, she wasn’t sure those distinctions mattered.
“How about we have a dinner together then? We can convince Paige to make dessert even.” Eve thought having a big dinner would be nice. She’d never get it back home, so she was definitely going to take it what she could here and now.
“Dinner sounds like a good idea to me,” Kristof said. Mostly because it would probably give them maybe five minutes of the two mischievous little hellions not causing trouble or inadvertently burning something down. Possibly.
Maybe. Hopefully.
Okay, it probably wouldn’t.
***
Adam nodded his agreement. “I think we have a plan then. Why don’t you two go and clean up so you’re ready to go,” he suggested, hoping the kids would give the adults at least a few minutes to chat without them. This was going to be a very long week.
