George had been a mother for less than a week. Nonetheless, she needed a break from it. She'd left his kids in the care of Michelle Webster for a couple of hours while she got out of Michelle's (admitted very large and very, very nice) house. That house sure beat the hell out of her one-bedroom apartment. She'd never really interacted with Michelle before, not until she discovered they both had kids by Kenny McCormick, of all people.
But Michelle had invited her and her three--count 'em, THREE--kids to stay with her for the duration. Which, did she mention how tiny her one-bedroom apartment was? Having room for the two of them and their collective half dozen kids, along with visits from Kenny, Xavier, Wade, and Brooke had been a godsend. All the same, the togetherness got to her after several days. So she'd changed into her skating duds and hit the road.
Now she was all the way downtown. She'd just about mastered her hoverboard now. Despite having no wheels, it rode almost exactly like a regular skateboard. It actually handled potholes and curbs better, since it had no wheels to worry about. She heard a vehicle approaching from behind, and glanced back over her shoulder. Yep, an auto was closing on her.
George veered out of the street and onto the sidewalk, weaving around a trash can and a couple of pedestrians before slowing to a stop. She stepped off of the board and kicked it up into the air and tucked it under her arm. She wasn't far from a small grocery. Maybe she'd buy a drink and something to snack on before she headed back.
She turned and nearly crashed into a stranger. "Oops! Sorry about that," George said.
