The past few weeks had been interesting, to say the least, but waking up to a very distressed Ellie talking about a child who called her mom had to be the weirdest thing that had happened to him since he found himself in Madison. The child in question, Elwyn, was the cutest he'd seen in a long time. Not nearly as cute as Sarah had been, but she did come in a pretty close second. Having her around really just make him miss his own daughter, or more accurately just brought that sorrow front and centre as opposed to tucked away in a corner of his mind. He would just have to deal with that again when he had time.
For now, he was just going to enjoy spoiling the laughing girl who was currently trying to keep up with him as he walked with her through the local park. "Alright, kiddo. You still want to walk or are you ready for me to carry you?" He wasn't sure how much further they had to go to get to the swings that he'd promised her and he didn't want her to wear herself out on the walk there. Then again, she was a child and everyone knew that kids were little balls of never ending energy when it came to playtime. She just laughed and held her arms up to him. He leaned down and scooped her up into his arms. He shifted her up onto his shoulders and got a grip on her little legs. "Okay, now be careful and hold on." He started walking again, looking for a sign or something that would direct them to the playground.
