Who: Zari Tarazi and John Constantine What: Taking their kid to get ice cream Where: Madison Valley Creamery When: Sunday Afternoon Warning: Low Status: Closed/Completed Gdoc
Zari wasn't really surprised that her daughter with John had returned. That was typically how the dome worked, right? The thing that did throw both of them for a loop? She was now a small child. The last time, Morrigan was a moody teenager who was generally self-sufficient. Now, she was a bubbly, bouncy little girl who needed actual supervision.
Who thought this was a good idea, anyway? Oh, right. The dome.
At the moment, they were taking her to the ice cream shop. Maybe they should have been taking her to get veggies or something, but she didn't think it was fair to subject her to that. Besides, she figured Max could use a break from the rambunctious child.
"This might be a mistake," she said as she opened the door to the shop.
Who knew what the sugar would do to her.
Constantine had been in Madison Valley long enough to not question too much of what happened. Like the daughter he had with Zari coming back. The only thing about Morrigan coming back that had thrown him for a loop was that she was younger. Where they had probably expected a moody teenager... this little one definitely wasn't that.
There's a part of him that wondered how that had happened. Not that he ever thought the dome would tell them what it thought or why it did something. They were also doing something that they probably shouldn't be doing. He's not sure how Zari was when she was little and had sugar, but he'd known how he was when he was younger. He's sure he'd given Cheryl a bit of hell growing up when he wasn't trying to get away.
The mention of it being a mistake has him giving a bit of a laugh," Whose idea was it again, love?" Even as he asks he reaches out and ruffles the top of Morrigan's hair," Be good, little love." Not that he thinks she won't be but it never hurts to say something.
Zari shook her head, grinning. “Okay, I take full responsibility for any sugar rush she might have.”
It had been her suggestion to get ice cream. Part of it was because she wanted some herself. Her kid was probably going to have a sweet tooth just like she had. Zari’s mother had told her she was sometimes a terror after sugar intake.
Morrigan smiled up at her dad. “I’m always good.”
Why did that almost sound like a threat? All Zari could do was chuckle.
"Course you will, love," Constantine states teasingly.
Of course, they'd both probably be at fault for the ice cream but Zari more than himself. She was one of the reasons why, other than Max, that he kept ice cream in the house among a few other things. Different types of food and things like that. Something all of them could eat or drink.
"Is that right, little love? Always?"
That definitely sounded like a threat.
Morrigan has a slightly impish look on her face. “Uh huh.”
Zari thought this was hilarious. “What do you expect? We are her parents.”
It made sense. Morrigan was an adorable little thing, but there was an edge to her. Or something like that. Why did she have a feeling she was being good just so she could get ice cream? Time would tell.
That impish look has him giving a bit of a laugh. Oh, this was hilarious alright. Then again... Morrigan hadn't been the only child to show back up in Madison and at a different age too. The dome really liked messing with them. He'd visit Sara and they could spend time with CeCe later.
"Aye, love, we are. Takes after both of us."
Those eyes look toward their little girl and he almost wondered what it would be like to be a father. Even if the thought alone scared him. The last thing he wanted was to end up like his father.
"You lasses know what type of ice cream you want?"
Zari thought of the what ifs, too. She never thought of herself as the motherly type. She never thought she’d want kids. Morrigan was cute, though. She seemed to be the perfect combination of her parents.
There were a lot of what ifs in their lives. Though, really, they probably should consider themselves good parents as it was. Or decent ones anyway. Both of them did what they could to take care of Max. Zari had started out taking care of the girl and he, himself, liked the girl. He liked having the girl around. Just as he's sure that Morrigan saw Max as a big sister, probably.
"Chocolate chip for my girls then."
He would get mint chocolate chip and then they could sit down to have that before heading back toward home.
