Anna and Kristoff were over the moon that their beautiful little girl, Astrid, had returned. She was an absolute delight and they could not get enough of her. Sven was happy to see her again as well. They even brought her out to Sven's new, bigger shed so they could play together. The reindeer seemed to enjoy her company and was already in protective mode. It was very sweet.
Anna could not help wondering just how close to reality this situation was. As Astrid was visiting Sven, she turned to Kristoff with curious eyes. "Do you think maybe she could be from our future...here?"
If she sounded a bit hopeful, it's because she was.
Kristoff loved that Astrid reappeared for himself and Anna, although the fact he also found himself with a young son whose mom was Kate Bishop certainly confused him slightly. He loved Kate like a sister and friend, given he only had eyes for Anna. But that didn’t change the fact he also loved Billy already.
Sven sat, happy to have family time together. “I don’t see why she couldn’t be from the future here, Anna. You know we can start trying.” Which maybe wasn’t the best turn of phrase since their precocious daughter asked, “Trying what, Daddy?” Kristoff walked into that one and even Sven eyed Kristoff as if to say Dig up. He looked at Anna and offered an apologetic expression. “To make you a reality.” Astrid nodded and went back to her one-sided conversation with Sven.
Anna didn’t mind that Billy was around. Even she couldn’t help but love him, too. Astrid seemed to get along with him as well. She also got along well with her cousin, Robin. She couldn’t help wondering if Elsa and Qrow’s child would also be a reality.
Yes, she had accepted Astrid was their daughter in the future. The way the little girl nodded felt like confirmation. She knew they were her parents, not parents from another universe. She squeezed Kristoff’s hand when the realization hit her.
“She is ours,” she said in a hushed tone that was also filled with emotion.
Honestly, Kristoff felt grateful that Anna, Astrid, and Sven also seemed to like Billy. He didn’t want his son to feel badly or anything, even if this particular future kid confused him ever so slightly. Having Robin also reappear made Kristoff happy and Astrid obviously liked her cousin.
He leaned over and kissed Anna’s temple, fingers brushing her hair back behind her ears. Astrid looked at her parents and then returned her attention to Sven. “She is.” Kristoff smiled at the words.
Anna couldn’t help feeling the emotions of it all. They were going to be parents, for sure. They were going to bring Astrid into the world and get to watch her grow. There was something so special about that.
“I wonder when she’s going to be born.” Was she from five years from now, meaning she would be born soon? Or was she from further? There was a lot to think about.
Astrid curled up next to Sven and started to tell him some story that Kristoff couldn’t actually follow. Something about a knight, some peas, and a grouchy carrot? He had to admit their kid had some hell of an imagination.
“Well, I guess time will tell? Are you ready to try and start a family, Anna?” Kristoff certainly wouldn’t mind and loved time with his wife, especially now that they were married.
Anna smiled at Astrid’s story. She couldn’t follow along, but she knew it was perfect. It seemed as if Sven did understand. Or maybe he was pretending. She was just happy they were friends.
She wanted that for them. This little girl was meant to exist.
“I am, Kristoff,” she said firmly. “Are you?”
Kristoff looked at Astrid and back at Anna. Their family felt complete and, while Billy would probably never exist outside of this time, he knew Billy would always have a place in his heart as well.
“Yes. I think I’m ready for this next step. Perhaps,” Kristoff stopped speaking and gently pulled Anna into his lap, because Astrid asked if they could go to the park later.
“We definitely can. I bet we can get Kate, Lucky, and Billy to join us as well, if your mom is okay with it.” Kate had become Kristoff’s best friend at this point.
He returned his attention to Anna. “Maybe we can take a trip?” They might enjoy going away to start said family.
Anna felt a sudden calm settle over her. This was going to happen and she gladly accepted that. She felt safe right here with her family. It was a nice feeling.
“I think a park visit would be lovely.”
To his second query, she added, “And so would a trip.”
Especially if it was to start their family.
Kristoff nodded. “To the park we go. And we’ll get some ice cream on our way home.” He pulled Anna close and squeezed her shoulder.
