When Kaz touched her, Inej felt at peace and cared for. She knew that they both had reputations to outsiders -- and sometimes even to their fellow Crows -- but with each other they were different. They could be different. Both of them had seen the worst of humanity and had managed to survive it. Yes, they both had baggage, but they had learned to carry their baggage and live with it. It was true that she accepted hugs from Nina and Jesper, but being touched by Kaz meant so much more to her.
She leaned into his hand when he touched her face. She was calm and trusting, always trusting of Kaz. She knew that he would never do anything to hurt her. She loved the feel of his hand on her face. It felt... right.
When he said that he wanted to kiss her, a warmth spread throughout her chest. She had often imagined what it would be like to kiss Kaz, but that had been something she had kept to herself from a time that she was worried about touch and intimacy. She had fewer of those fears now and Kaz was the reason.
Her eyes met his and she hoped that he could read all of the feelings there that she had for him.
