Josie was still struggling to believe that she had found the courage to ask out Wednesday. After everything that had happened with Rowan, she had promised herself that she wasn't going to worry about dating here. But her feelings of liking Wednesday just kind of managed to sneak up on her. She knew that she couldn't spend her life hiding in her room, so she decided that for once she would just go for something that she wanted for herself. Hopefully, things would go better for her this time around, but she was also learning that she was tougher than she ever imagined. So, if things didn't go the way she wanted them to, she knew that she would still survive and her life would go on. She was determined to just go for the things he wanted, and hope for the best. Fortunately, the first part had gone just the way she wanted to do. She had invited Wednesday out for tea on a Friday night, hopefully making it obvious that she intended for this to be a date. If she had to be more clear once they got there, then she would do what she had to. She knew that she wanted to explore the possibilities of something more than friendship with Wednesday and she was hoping that the other girl would feel the same way. With that in mind, she also knew that she wanted to look as good for this evening out as possible. So, she had made sure to shower and she had even gone shopping beforehand to buy a new outfit. They had agreed to meet there, because it would just be easier on both of them. So, as usual she left early, because she still had that fear of being late. This led to her being a full hour early, so once again she found herself a table and took the seat that would allow her to have a good view of the front door. This way, she would be able to see when Wednesday came in. She hadn't wanted to order any food before her companion arrived, but she did order herself a tea to sip on while she waited. * The idea that this was a date hadn’t occurred to Wednesday. She enjoyed spending time with Josie and assumed it was simply another casual get together. Had she thought of it, she wouldn’t have minded it though. Dating was never really big on her radar and after everything that happened with Tyler, it was the last thing she was thinking about. She arrived at the tea shop dressed in her typical black and white, her hair pulled back into braided pigtails, and her expression neutral as usual. When she saw that Josie was there already, she stepped up to the counter to get herself a cup of tea before joining her friend. “Good evening,” Wednesday said, the corners of her mouth twitching into something that could almost be called a smile. * Josie hadn’t really had the best of luck in the dating department and a lot of people her age would be a little gun shy after everything she had been through. But Josie knew that the best thing she could do was get right back on the, because living her life in a box just wasn’t something that interested her. Though it had taken someone like Wednesday; someone she could relate to, to get her to take her own advice. When Josie saw her approaching, a small smile appeared on her features. It was so nice to see Wednesday again, and there was this big happy feeling inside of her that was hard to contain. But she also didn’t want to scare the other girl away, so she forced herself to reign some of that in. “Hello. I am so pleased to see you” she replied, letting just the tiniest bit of her excitement shine through this time. * “Likewise,” Wednesday said though her expression remained passive and if someone didn’t know her, they would be hard pressed to recognize that she was pleased. She had spent enough time with Josie by now that the other girl should see it though. She sat down and took a sip of tea. “”How was your week? Anything interesting going on?” Wednesday wasn’t normally the type of person who made small talk or asked about other people and she was genuinely interested in Josie’s answers. * Josie did know and understood that Wednesday wasn’t the most expressive of people, but it never really bothered Josie. For some reason, she found it easy to through the other woman’s expressions to find out what mood she really was in. And knowing that Wednesday was happy to see her was enough to make Josie even happier on the inside. After all, she was the one person here Josie wanted to spend as much time as she could with. “It’s been a pretty good week…and yourself?” she asked, wanting to return the favour of showing interest in the other girl's life. “The most interesting and best part of my week is happening right now” she admitted, and her cheeks did flush ever so slightly as she spoke. * Wednesday was a little surprised by both Josie’s admission and her physical reaction. Before she attended Nevermore, Wednesday was used to people giving her a wide berth and whispering about how weird she was. Making friends was still new to her and she would never expect anyone to consider her the best part of their week. “I will be glad when school is over for the summer,” she said. “The classes are boring and the other students are irritating.” At least the town ones. They treated her like the kids at her previous school did. Josie was different, more like her friends from Nevermore. “Do you have any plans for the break yet?” * Josie wasn’t used to making friends this easily either; even at her school back home, she had always felt like more of an outsider. She was always trying to live up to her father’s example and that had put a real strain on her. So, for the longest time, she simply buried her head in her books and never really attempted to make friends. Of course, she had made a few regardless, but here things were different. And for some reason Wednesday was one of the new people that she felt like she could be truly herself around her. She nodded her head right away, because that was something that she was looking forward to as well.”It certainly will be nice to get a break from all of that” she agreed, even nodding her head slightly in agreement with her own words. “I am not really sure yet, but I do know I want to do something other than just sit at home for break” she admitted. * There was no way Wednesday was going to spend more time at home than she had to. Juliet was fine, but Shawn was overwhelming and she didn’t think she could handle being around him constantly. “I have considered obtaining a job,” she said. “Though, I’m not entirely sure what I would be qualified to do.” Wednesday wasn’t exactly the customer service type and that was what people her age tended to do when they got jobs. “I’ve also never had a job.” The Addamses had family wealth and while they were not ostentatious displaying it, they did use it to fund their lives without having to do something as pedestrian as getting a job. * Josie was fortunate enough to live with her family and spending more time with them was always okay with her. But she also understood that they had their own lives as well, so she would still have quite a bit of time to herself. She knew that she didn’t want to spend that time cooped up in the house being antisocial. Though, she also wasn’t the type to go out and do the typical things that other kids did either. “I’ve never really had a job either, but I thought I could perhaps volunteer somewhere. Get a start that way. And then of course, I would like to spend some more time with you, if you would allow” she replied, her cheeks flushing once again at the admittance of her desire to spend more time with Wednesday. * “I would enjoy spending time with you,” Wednesday said. “Perhaps we can volunteer somewhere together.” She liked the idea of doing something to help others and she felt more comfortable with Josie than she did with most people. She was observant and noticed Josie’s cheeks turning pink, though she wasn’t entirely sure why they would be. * Josie decided to just go with it, because she knew that if she never asked then she could never get what she wanted. So, she spent a few more moments working up the courage and then she smiled over at Wednesday. Hopefully this would go better than the last time she tried with someone else, but the only way she would know would be to try. “Wednesday, I enjoy spending time with you too. I mean I like you….like really like you. Would you be okay with me kissing you?” she finally blurted out, and then her cheeks flushed again. But this time, she did manage to stand firm and wait for a response, because now it was out there. * Wednesday wasn’t expecting the question and her eyes widened slightly when Josie asked. It wasn’t something she ever considered, though she’d never really given much thought to her own sexuality at all. She figured that someday she’d meet someone who inspired such feelings in her, someone who looked at her the way her parents looked at each other. Was Josie that person? She had no idea. “I would be amenable to that,” she said. “Though not in a public place like this.” Wednesday was a private person and that wasn’t the kind of thing she cared to indulge in where others could see. * Josie spotted the way Wednesday’s eyes widened and she hoped that she wasn’t ruining their friendship. But she also knew that living with those feelings inside wasn’t healthy either. So, when she heard Wednesday’s answer, the smile that appeared on her features could have brightened just about anyone’s day. It was very clear that it had been just the thing that she had wanted to hear. Even the part about not doing it in public was the perfect answer for Josie, because she too was a very private person. She had only asked, because she wanted to make her intentions clear. The idea of public displays of affection had never really appealed to her and she believed that it was something best left for when the two people involved were alone. “You have no idea how happy I am to hear that. I would prefer us to be alone as well” she replied, making sure that Wednesday knew that she was in agreement with both of the things that she had said. * Dating was still very new to Wednesday and she knew this was uncharted territory for her. Maybe she would ask Enid for advice. Or Juliet. Definitely not Shawn. “Would you like to come over some evening? We can watch a movie or play a board game.” And she would try to get her guardians out of the house because the last thing they needed was Shawn’s commentary. She didn’t feel the need to rush things since there was still a lot she and Josie needed to learn about each other. * Josie had dated before, but dating here was an entirely different ball game for her. She didn’t have to worry about whether the other person knew about magic or not, but more than that she didn’t have to worry as much about them being afraid of her because of her being a siphoner. So, it was both strange and nice for her to be able to be a little bit more free here. “I would love that” she replied, nodding her head with a soft smile. Perhaps that would be the best way for the two of them to get some alone time, since neither of them were big fans of PDA. * “I’ll check with my guardians and see when would be a good time,” Wednesday said, actually smiling for a brief moment. The expression wasn’t natural at all, but it was genuine. She actually found herself relaxing a little more and was glad that she and Josie could spend some time getting to know each other better now. |
