Winter term had ended and Spring term was underway at Hanover College despite the campaign of terror perpetrated by the Scarecrow. Additional security had been deployed, and all the buildings were locked and required proper ID to enter. It wasn't high security, but hopefully it was enough to deter an attack on campus.

Charly had checked out of the sciences building and was walking across the campus when she spotted a familiar face. She hurried over to fall into step beside Daphne Bridgerton. They'd met in the music practice rooms where Daphne had been practicing, and Charly had gone to see her perform in the recent music festival.

"Hello, Daphne," Charly said. "How are you doing? Avoiding the Scarecrow's fear gas so far?"
