Oookay, Jonathan thought, as the woman shrieked "You can't have them!"
She was definitely hallucinating, but his hand on her arm and his words seemed to have some effect. It calmed her a little. He wondered who she was seeing. Then she began to cry and repeat that she'd defeated...someone. Someone from her past, he supposed. An old enemy or rival. Maybe he wasn't calming her, maybe she was just moving from fear and anger to grief.
He switched his attention to what his wasps were seeing, but they were buzzing across in confusion. The man in the weird burlap mask had slipped away while he was preoccupied. Damn it. He called them back.
"You did defeat her," he said, hoping she could hear him. "She's not here. She's only a memory, a very bad memory. She's not really here."
