Who: Bex and Marcel What: on their trip Where: Argentina When: April 28 Warnings: low Status: g-doc
Marcel looked forward to the hike he had planned with Rebekah. He’d booked her a half spa day the following day, complete with a lunch date at the hotel restaurant. Then, more exploring this beautiful area of the world. He’d never explored the world the same way as the Mikaelsons, preferring to remain in New Orleans and build up his empire.
Of course, just because Marcel hadn’t really left New Orleans, besides those seven years in New York with Bex, didn’t mean the vampire didn’t want to see the world with the blonde vampire. He very much desired a chance to go on trips with her. Usually she explored with Alyssa, but a trip with just the love of his life sounded good to Marcel.
He’s planned ahead and brought blood bags with them to leave in the room fridge, that way if they found a way to compel people it would be a nice surprise, but not a necessity.
“So, are you looking forward to getting out there and exploring?” Marcel asked, after he brought back some pastries, fruit, juice, and lattes from downstairs. Of course he added blood to the lattes.
While Rebekah had ventured into South America with Alyssa, it had been some time since she’d visited Argentina. On the last trip, she’d gone alone. She recalled enjoying her time here; the rapid change in weather and landscape always fascinated Rebekah. However, her trip now was better in so many ways because she was with Marcel. It was his first time here and for Rebekah, in a lot of ways, it was a similar experience.
She was looking forward to seeing this place with him by her side. They had a hike planned and then a spa day for Rebekah the following day. Not to mention lunch too. The blond was looking forward to adventuring with the other vampire. But, at the moment, she was looking forward to the pastries and lattes he was bringing up to the room.
Thankfully, she didn’t have to wait long. Soon enough, he was walking in the door and adding blood to their lattes. The blond eagerly accepted one of the lattes and took a sip before answering.
“More than anything. I can’t wait to see you witness some of the sights here. I think it may blow your mind, love.” She offered a playful smile from behind the edge of her cup.
Marcel took a sip of his latte and offered his girlfriend his patented grin. “I would wager most things I do with you fall under the category of mind blowing.” Thankfully here they were alone and didn’t have a fucking zoo worth of people and creatures in the house. Of course it did seem a little better now that the basement was finished for Kaz. He leaned over and kissed Bex. “I’ve left a note with housekeeping to not worry about the fridge until we leave.” They really did not need a poor housekeeper freaking out over blood bags in the fridge.
“I’m excited to explore. Elijah spoke about it a few times when I was a child and it made me want to see this part of the world. I remember wishing I’d gotten to see the Mayan Empire in its heyday.” He glanced at Bex and grinned. “I assume you packed stylish and yet appropriate footwear for our hike?” Rebekah always looked good in what she wore, but he didn’t want to witness her hike Patagonia in heels.
He sat for a minute and ripped open the bag of pastries, handing Rebekah her favourite on a plate. “It’s nice to just be here with you and not worry that somewhere I’m going to trip over Rabid because he decided to nap in the middle of the hallway.” Having children had to be less stressful than living in a house with Alyssa, Kaz, a Pokemon, and two Netherlings.
“I think I would have to agree with you,” Rebekah chuckled. The blond was enjoying the relative silence as much as Marcel. Even with the basement finished, the house still felt as if it was bursting at the seams sometimes. Rebekah knew that eventually Marcel and her would need to find their own place. She loved living with Alyssa and her netherling friends, but they could probably all benefit from more room too. Rebekah leaned in and returned the kiss. “Perfect. Thank you, darling.” Yes, the last thing they needed was the housekeeper passing out at the sight of blood in the fridge.
Rebekah nodded. “You and I both,” she replied with a smile. Unfortunately, the Mayan Empire was before the Mikaelsons time as well. However, Marcel and Rebekah could explore the ruins at least. The blond laughed at his question. “Yes, I did bring stylish yet appropriate footwear. I have to look good while taking that hike, darling.” She took another sip from her latte.
Eagerly, Rebekah accepted the plate from Marcel and took a bite from the pastry. Not surprising, it tasted delightful. Swallowing, the vampire nodded at his comment. “It is. I feel as if one day we will need to find our own place. The house is wonderful and I love living with Alyssa, but it is becoming a tad cramped.”
Marcel laughed, eyes sparkling and taking in the woman he loved most in this or any world. “Good. I could hardly be seen out in public with only a semi-put together Rebekah Mikaelson,” the Black vampire teased. “Although, I did not go for style, which your sister already gave me side eye about. I swear, living with you has upped her attitudes about style.”
Oh thank fucking hell. Marcel didn’t need to bring up the two finding somewhere else to live. “I think you and Alyssa moving in together made sense a year ago. You two weren’t in living together relationships, she didn’t have a boyfriend or a ward. I love your sister, but I may kill Rabid if we continue to all live under one roof, and that assumes Kaz doesn’t attempt to murder Chessie first.” Alyssa assured Marcel and Bex would prove difficult to do. “And I can’t imagine she and Damien won’t want to live together at some point. Now that he’s in with Alyssa he seems…very in.” For better or worse.
Rebekah laughed. “And I would hardly put you through such misery,” she teased. “And I am not surprised Alyssa gave you the side eye. I think if you live with someone it is impossible for parts of them not to rub off on you.” She knew there were parts of Alyssa that rubbed off on Rebekah too. It was impossible for it not to happen when you lived under the same roof together.
The blond vampire nodded. “It was different circumstances, but now us finding our own place seems like a good idea. I have little doubt Alyssa and Damien will also look for their own place at some point. Though I imagine they are waiting till Kaz can live on his own first.” Though she knew Marcel was joking about killing Rabid and Kaz attempting to murder Chessie, Rebekah knew in such tight quarters, people were bound to start getting on each other’s nerves.
“Perhaps it is something we can bring up with Alyssa once we return. Obviously, we don’t have to make any plans yet, but I feel like it still might be a good idea to share where our thoughts are,” Rebekah added, taking another sip from her coffee.
Marcel saw how the pair rubbed off on each other and it made him happy. How could it not? Sure, it made Alyssa probably a little more snobby about clothes, but she seemed to have the effect of making Bex happier and that mattered most to Marcel. “Hopefully you’ll be seen with me.” Usually Marcel looked good, but he bought proper hiking boots for their trip.
“Kaz strikes me as the type who will move out the moment he turns eighteen.” Marcel didn’t mind the young man, but he obviously chafed at having any sort of guardian. The tight quarters certainly made everything a bit…overwhelming at times, but at least some nights Alyssa went to Damien’s instead of him climbing into her bedroom. “I think we should talk to her. It makes no sense for all three of us to find a new place, though.” Not that Marcel automatically thought he and Bex should keep the current house, but that one of the sisters should.
“I suppose…” Rebekah trailed off and shot him a playful smile. Honestly, regardless of what Marcel wore, she would always be happy to be seen with him. Sure, Rebekah could be snobby about clothes, but she would never be overly picky about what Marcel wore. As long as he had good hygiene and didn’t walk around wearing a trashbag, they were fine.
She nodded. “He strikes me in that same way. It’s clear he’s been on his own for a while and that having a guardian is only a nuisance to him.” While Kaz played his cards close to the chest, Rebekah could tell there was something seriously jaded about the young man. She had no doubt he’d seen his share of darkness which was sad. Someone that young should not know the kind of pain he probably held in his heart.
“We’ll talk with Alyssa when we return. No doubt one of us will keep the current house. The question is which one of us that will be.” Rebekah was fine with them staying in the house, but she was also okay if Alyssa chose to stay there.
A chuckle escaped Marcel and his cocky grin appeared. He knew what mattered to Rebekah and it wasn’t like the vampire wanted to walk around looking terrible. But, having never hiked before, he did want to wear proper shoes. Shoes he’d been wearing for two weeks to break in so his feet didn’t hate him too much.
Something about Kaz reminded Marcel of how jaded he’d been as a child before Klaus rescued him. Not that he planned on saying so to anyone. “Your impression about the young man matches mine.” Marcel worried about someone that young who carried that much pain…just look at Klaus and Kol.
“I feel fairly certain the conversation will entail the two of you arguing why the other should keep the house,” Marcel commented, dryly. While both Bex and Alyssa possessed selfish streaks, they certainly didn’t show it when it came to each other.
The blond nodded. Rebekah knew as much about Kaz as anyone else really did in the house. It was true that Alyssa could possibly know more. Still, Rebekah felt Kaz probably kept tight-lipped about his past. Given her own history, she could hardly pass judgment on how someone dealt with their trauma. The Mikaelsons were not exactly stellar examples of healthy coping mechanisms.
Rebekah’s expression lightened and she nodded. “That’s probably true,” she admitted, taking a sip from her coffee. Both of the sisters simply wanted the best for each other.
Marcel walked over and stood behind Bex, arms wrapping around her shoulders, before he kissed her temple. “I love you, Rebekah Mikaelson and the crazy that is our house. I know you and Alyssa will ensure the other is happy.” The vampire polished off his latte. “Ready to go show this mountain who is boss? By which I mean, the mountain more than likely.”
Rebekah leaned into his touch and smiled, letting out a soft sigh as he pressed a kiss to her temple. Even after a thousand years, there were truly moments where Rebekah did not know what she would do without Marcel. No matter how far apart they were, her feelings for him always remained strong. He meant everything to her.
“I love you too and that crazy, bloody house,” Rebekah replied. “And yes, no matter what, we will make sure that each other is happy in the end.” Because that is what sisters did for one another. What family did for one another.
Rebekah took a final sip of her latte and chuckled. “Let’s see what trouble we can get ourselves into.”
