This new land was still so terribly new to Rowena. True, it was not hard for her to accept strange things such as Metal Beings or this strange concept of electricity instead of wick and flame, considering her entire life had been made of magic. There were many things she professed to missing- the halls of her husband's home that she had grown used to in the past seven years eh had been the Lady there, her hunting dogs that often kept her company late into the night and, of course, the expansive library that she had cultivated into her own place. There were many books on all sorts of subjects and, while she was very intrigued at the thought that this world now held even more knowledge than before, she still felt a pang of homesickness that stayed deep in her gut.
Well, at least she had Godric, even if it meant they were missing two of their very dear friends. They would make this place home. Rowena missed Helga the most, often turning, in thought, to say something to her only to realize that Helga was not of this world that Rowena had come to. Perhaps she simply had to do more research into the matter- perhaps there was a spell or a reading that might prove more useful than sitting on her hands, pretending that she understood the little nuances of this world and why they had been drawn into.
The hour was far later than Rowena had meant to stay up to, but she simply couldn't sleep. Her feet carried her through the streets as she walked through the little town. She had yet to invest in any of the 'modern' clothing she had seen so many wearing, preferring the dress she had arrived in, wrapping a shawl she had discovered at one of the shops around her to ward off some of the chill. And, despite the ruling, she had tucked her wand safely to her side. The shawl did a good job at hiding the wooden object and, while Rowena felt nervous should she be caught, she was not going to go without her magic. It was only, as she turned the corner, that she found herself far less alone.
"Oh, please, don't be scared!" The Scottish lilt slipped quickly over her tongue, a hand thrust out as though if she waved it enough times the girl might be less frightened. Dear, she didn't quite know how to react with people sometimes, especially these new people. "I was just walking, I mean no harm!" She offered a small smile, slowing her pace to a halt. Perhaps the girl wanted to walk alone, and Rowena would have been fine with that, respecting the quiet that solitude brought. "I apologize if I startled you. I know the hour is late and there are many things to fear in the dark, but I do not believe I am such a terribly beastie."
