Kristoff could tell Anna and Elsa wanted a night to themselves. Not that he blamed them at all. As such, he texted Kate to see if she wanted to go for a walk with Sven and Lucky. He liked the young woman and their companions got along rather well, after all. Honestly, Kristoff knew he needed to meet more people, but he’d never been the most social guy. The fact he’d made friends with Kate honestly surprised him a lot.
He and Sven made their way to the park to wait for the other two. Kristoff wondered how Kate had been fairing since her return back to Madison Valley.
Kate was stoked to have a friend in Madison Valley outside of her normal circles--her boyfriend and his friend being one, and Clint sorta being the other. Kristoff was a great guy, too. Kate could tell he was a great guy because if Sven liked him, then he had to be, right? Lucky and Sven got along like peas in a pod, so it totally made sense that Kristoff and Kate would be friends.
Getting the text from her friend, Kate was really excited. It meant a lot to her that he thought of her and she was excited to see him. Lucky was excited to see Sven, too. He sprang from the car and went bounding over to his friend the moment Kate opened the door.
“Kristoff!” She called, giving him a bright smile and a wave. “And Sven! How’s my stinky reindeer friend?” She asked, stepping right up to him to pat his head. The reindeer, not Kristoff.
Sven eyed Kate at her stinky comment. Kristoff laughed. “I assure you, I recently bathed him.” Bathing a reindeer always proved awkward for baths, but Kristoff preferred that Sven not smell, especially since he spent time in the house with the family.
“Hi Lucky. Kate.” He knelt down to pet Lucky’s head. Sven lowered his head to greet the dog. “How are you two? How’s life?”
Kate laughed at that. She nodded. “It was a joke, buddy. I know you’re not always stinky. Hey, we all have our sticky moments.” Kate had them, too. There were definitely days and times when she wasn’t at her best.
“Hi, Kristoff.” Kate bumped her shoulder into his once he was finished greeting Lucky. She grinned brightly. “Glad to be back, man. How about you? What have you been up to?”
Sven gave her cheek a gentle nuzzle with his muzzle, careful to not hit her with his antlers. Kristoff laughed. “That we do, Kate.” He had to admit he loved the whole indoor plumbing aspect in this place, as much as he hated things like plastic.
Kristoff grinned. “Just enjoying time with my wife. Trying to not die via whatever new fresh hell the Dome throws at us. Enjoying the more fun aspects. I think I might see about taking a trip with Anna soon.” Maybe for their wedding anniversary? He knew they both wanted to have a family too.
“It’s good to have you back. Are you still nannying, then?”
Awwwww. Sven was the best. Kate grinned at the nuzzle to her cheek. She lifted both hands to rub at his cheeks, then brushed his bangs away from his eyes.
“God, I can’t believe you’re married. I mean, I know you’re married, but still. I’m so happy for the pair of you.” Kate really was. She couldn’t exactly imagine getting married herself, but she was incredibly happy for her friends who took that path. “It must be a serious trip.”
Then she nodded, reaching down to pat Lucky on the head. He wasn’t interested in her, though, he was way more interested in hanging out with Sven. Perhaps they could play ball together?
“Thanks, man. Yeah, I’m still nannying. I love it. How about you? Aside from Anna, of course, what keeps you busy these days?”
Sven appreciated the cheek rub and would have told Kate she was the best. If he could talk. Which he could not do as a reindeer.
Sometimes Kristoff couldn’t believe he and Anna finally got married. “I know. It still surprises me sometimes that Anna loves me as much as I love her.” Marriage didn’t seem like it would be for everyone, but it worked for him and Anna. Either way, he felt grateful for the support from his friend.
Kristoff watched Lucy and Sven and he couldn’t help but smile at how close those two became over the months. He thought Sven might enjoy playing ball with Lucky.
“I’m still working at Red Arms. Spending time with Sven. My introverted ways haven’t changed too much,” Kristoff admitted with a grin.
Kate spoke reindeer. She knew that Sven thought she was awesome. They were cool. Lucky was in on it, too--he also thought Kate was awesome. And that Sven was awesome. And that Kristoff was awesome, too.
“Awww,” Kate said, practically swooning. She was pretty happy about love. Being with Stiles made her feel all sappy and drippy with love. “That’s so sweet. Look at you guys. All adorable.” Maybe marriage was something in her future, too. Like them. Maybe. Jeez.
“Hey, no one expected your introverted ways to change just because you and Anna tied the knot,” she teased gently. “But so long as you’re happy? I’m happy for you.”
Of course Kate spoke reindeer. Kristoff expected nothing less from his friend. The four of them were obviously awesome. Who wouldn’t think so?
He grinned. “Looks like someone else is in love.” Sven rolled his eyes as if to say humans and love, amiright?
“Thanks Kate. As long as you’re happy too. Ready to go for a walk?”
Lucky rolled his puppy eyes in response. Humans often were silly with love. And Kate was definitely silly with love.
“What can I say?” Kate responded, grinning warmly. “I got bit.”
Then she nodded, patting her thigh to call Lucky along with them. “Definitely ready for a walk. Lead the way.”
