WHO:: Deuce Gorgon and Clawdeen Wolf
WHAT: Deuce’s arrival
WHEN: Saturday
WHERE:: Downtown
WARNINGS: TBD
STATUS: Partially gdoc'ed completed in comments
Deuce wasn’t sure what had initially alerted him to the fact that he was no longer in his room. Maybe it was the cold ground where he found himself. Maybe it was the sounds of town that suddenly woke him. Maybe it was the fact that it was clearly winter here…cold winter…and the icy breeze seemed to cut through his light shirt. Or maybe it was the way his snakes started hissing because they were cold and he wasn’t wearing his hat because he’d been sleeping. Whatever it was, when he blinked and opened his eyes he was definitely not where he went to sleep. Thankfully his glasses were stuck in his pocket and he put them on right away, not wanting to turn anyone to stone.
He stood up, wiping the ground from his clothes as he tried to figure out where he was. Not his room. Not Monster High.
He approached a person walking on the street, who screamed and ran in the other direction. Ugh. His snakes. Of course normal people would run from him. But he didn’t have a hat and somehow he thought he wasn’t going to be able to go into a store and buy one. Not with his snakes being very loud about how miserably cold they were.
What was he going to do?
He found himself standing on the street, snakes hissing, watching people either turn away or cross the street to avoid him. Figured. That was how most people felt about gorgons.

Clawdeen was super excited that it was Saturday and that she didn’t have to go to school, because it meant that she could go check into some more skateboarding gear for her and Enid. So, she had risen early that morning to go out and get her shopping done, after nearly an hour of getting ready, she made her way out the front door of the apartment she shared with her new guardian and onto the street. Of course, she had her skateboard, so she rode it instead of walking, because it would be more fun and it would allow her to get to her destination faster.
In no time she had made her way downtown and she was moving through the crowd easily enough. But then she spotted someone familiar and had to do a double take to make sure she wasn’t just seeing what she wanted to see. Though, when she looked back to see if it was indeed Deuce, she skated right into a pole.
She had landed flat on her butt; she shook her head a little and jumped up to check back and see if she had been right. “Deuce…..” she shouted, trying to get his attention.

Deuce heard the crash, which immediately pulled his attention in that direction. Was that…it couldn’t be…could it?
“Clawdeen?”
He hurried over to make sure she was okay, helping her up off the ground. His snakes kept hissing, even if they did recognize her as a friend. Sort of.
“Are you hurt?” It was usually pretty hard to hurt a monster but she’d taken quite a fall. “And where are we? How did we end up in a human town?”

The moment she saw that it was him, her joy replaced any thoughts of the fall or any pain it may have caused. It took her a moment to catch her breath though, but finally she responded to his question.
“No…I am not hurt” she said, but before she answered his other questions she wrapped her arms around him, not even worrying about his snakes. She was just so happy to see him and hugging him seemed like the most natural thing to do.
She got lost in the hug and she completely forgot what his other questions were. “I am sorry…what else did you ask me?”.

Deuce certainly wasn’t going to shy away from her hug. He wrapped his arms tightly around her, holding her close. It felt so good just to hold her, to find someone he knew and who wasn’t afraid of him or his snakes.
After a long, long moment, he pulled back, smiling a little.
“I asked…how did we get here? Where are we? This is the human world, right?”
Another person walked by on the street, looked at him, screamed a little, and crossed the road.
“That…isn’t good.”

She appreciated the way he returned the hug and she found herself relaxing a little more than she had the entire time she had been here so far. Something about a familiar face just made her feel so much better about being stuck here. When he finally pulled back from the hug, she returned his smile and reached down to hold his hand in a comforting fashion.
“It is a human world, but there are other supernatural creatures here as well” she answered, wanting him to know that he wasn’t completely alone. Aside from her, he knew that there would be others that wanted to help him as well.
But when the woman ran away from him screaming, she snarled and shouted back. “Rude!”.
“Let me go into one of the stores and get you a hat and then we will go for a coffee and I can fill you in and what I’ve learned about this place” she suggested.
***
He was loathe to let go of her, but he had to. He had to figure out where he was, how he’d gotten here, and he needed to somehow take care of his snakes so that they stopped freaking everyone out.
“I’ve never spent much time around humans,” he said carefully. He had nothing against humans anymore but he was still a little unsure of them. Mainly because they seemed to be afraid of him and that wasn’t a good feeling. He was a good guy. Honest.
“Yeah,” he said, squeezing her hand. “Let’s start by getting me a hat. I think we need that before anything else.”
