"I am sure it is just as good as it smells," Bilbo said, smiling slightly at the dwarf. He hadn't expected to become close to any dwarf, especially this one. He'd thought Thorin hadn't liked him for the longest time -- and it was likely true for a period of time. He seemed to have grown on Thorin, though, just as Thorin had grown on Bilbo. While he liked all the dwarves he'd gone on the adventure with, Thorin was the one he felt most comfortable with.
Which was why he had suggested they share an apartment -- he hadn't wanted to stay in Madison Valley alone, and he much preferred the company of Thorin to anyone else's. Just don't tell Fili. He believed Fili could handle himself better in this town, though, as he'd apparently been here before.
This was all so strange to the hobbit -- preferring to live with someone, living in such a modern and strange world. But he was at least trying to adjust.
