Thorin watched as his friend entered the kitchen and he couldn't help the smile that appeared on his features. The little halfling certainly had managed to worm his way into Thorin's heart in a way that no other non-dwarf had. It had been no secret to those that knew him that Thorin preferred the company of his own kind most of the time, but there was something different about Bilbo.
"I am certainly pleased that you think so, Bilbo" he responded, not really sure why the words rang so true to his own heart. But for some reason he really did want to make Bilbo happy, so knowing that he had started on the path to that made him happy as well.
"I know the food won't compare to the food back home, but I am hoping that it at least comes close" he added, sharing some of this own thoughts from earlier. He wasn't sure that he had managed it, even though he had tasted what he had made. All he had thought when he tried it was that it wasn't nearly as good as any of the food he had eaten on that fateful morning in Bilbo's hobbit hole when they had first met.
