Who: Michelle Webster and Five What: Random Meeting When: Thursday, January 31 Where: Gifts That Last Warnings: None, probably Status: Incomplete
Valentine's Day was just over two weeks away. Michelle didn't have a Special Someone to celebrate it with, but she wasn't really looking for one. She did have several friends with benefits, and she liked to give them something to mark the occasion. A reminder that they weren't just playmates, but that she considered them actual friends as well. She wanted to find something for Kenny, Mitsuko and Brooke, as well as a couple of locals.
So it was that she found herself visiting Gifts That Last. She'd not been in the shop before, and was surprised by the variety of items available. Various types of jewelry, friendship bracelets, stones--polished, raw, cut or uncut--from amethyst to emeralds, essential oils, books, CDs, statuettes, incense and burners, journals, and clothing.
Michelle found herself examining the jewelry and the cut stones. She'd never been partial to diamonds; she preferred the more colorful rubies, emeralds and sapphires. They were all under glass, unsurprisingly. Small as they were, they'd be incredibly easy to lift--or just lose. When she sensed one of the staff approaching, she said without looking up, "These are lovely, but at these prices they must be man-made gems, yes? Either that, or they're hot."
