Who: Chloe Decker, Jack Kline, & Sam Winchester
Where: Sam's Apartment
Warnings: low
Late to the game as always, Sam had seen Jack post on the network and realized that this version of Jack didn’t know what happened to him or what he became in less than a week. Maybe it was better that way, that Jack didn’t know. There was also no point in him holding a grudge against the young Nephilim either for not responding to his prayers for Dean in the moment and for years after, especially given that his kneejerk reaction when he saw that Jack was here was to find him and hug the shit out of him. And that’s what he had done when Sam had seen him in the parking lot of Jack’s apartment. Hugged him tightly and dragged him home with him to pick up and meet DJ and do some catching up. In the decade that had passed, Sam had almost forgotten how old Jack really was despite the age he looked, and how much he had taken on to save him and Dean. Talking to Chloe later on in the week, Sam told her about Jack. That he was Lucifer’s son, a Nephilim that he, Dean, and Cas had unofficially adopted as their own, a few silly stories, and what became of Jack in the end. He asked her if she would meet him, and she agreed, and Sam set a time for the four of them to meet informally, and have some pizza or whatever takeout at his apartment. When the time came, Sam and Jack sat on his sofa watching a cartoon with DJ, talking dogs who were policemen and firefighters, while they waited for Chloe to come. It was always strange, knowing that alternate versions of Lucifer existed. Versions that had children of their own. It was especially odd to her now that she had a child of her own that belonged to Lucifer. Given what she knew about Jack’s father, Chloe found it hard to believe that he could be so different. But, she was curious about him, and he was important to Sam, so she had agreed to meet him. He seemed nice enough, even rather innocent, from the conversation she had seen on the network, and she was looking forward to meeting him. Chloe headed to Sam’s apartment after work and made her way up to his apartment. She really needed to get Trixie on board at this point, but she wasn’t sure how to do that. It would have been a hard sell initially, but it was even worse after she had been taken by Lucifer. But, the longer she stalled on things, the more difficult it would be. Maybe she would be able to get Jack to talk to Trixie or something. She knocked at his door and smiled brightly when he answered, her arms going around his body in a warm embrace. “Hey, handsome. I missed you. How’re things?” Sam smiled down at Chloe, his arms winding around her waist and returning the embrace. “Hey beautiful,” he greeted, bending to place a kiss on her lips. “Missed you too,” he said. He wished that they were getting together on their own, date night or whatever night, but there would be time for that in the future. DJ had been asking to see Chloe, and he wanted her to meet Jack. That was pretty important, given that he had been a pretty big part of Sam’s life in the past, and he felt like he would be now that he was here. His arm wrapped around her back casually as he walked her inside and closed the door behind them with his foot. “I think we’re going to get a pizza, have a few beers or rootbeers, hope that’s okay,” he announced as they walked towards the living room, and seeing her DJ immediately squealed her name and ran towards her to wrap himself around her in a hug. Jack had been watching the cartoon DJ had on, making silly conversation with him and Sam about the animals they were watching. All casual, relaxed, not having any real meaning but to pass the time with. He knew he’d have to find a job soon if he wanted to keep eating and living on his own. He kind of wanted to prove to Dean and Castiel that he could do it, that he didn’t know how to live on his own because he had never done it before, and what better way to learn than by throwing himself into it? That way no one had to argue about who would watch him and make sure he wasn’t eating too much cereal (he did do that) or who he was out killing or hurting (he wouldn’t do that). He was technically only three years old and shouldn’t be on his own yet, even he knew that, but he had always acted like he was older and been through and done so much. He even had the fake IDs in his wallet to prove it. That was how he had beer in his refrigerator. Today he was meeting Chloe, Sam’s girlfriend. He had yet to meet anyone else’s significant other, so this was new to him and very important. He hoped it went well. He wasn’t as nervous as he was anxious to meet someone who had built up to be someone very special to Sam. When the knock came to the door, he waited until Sam and Chloe appeared from around the corner before he stood and stepped a little closer to them. He put his hand up in a wave. “Hello,” he said with a smile. “Pizza and beer is fine. I know I’m from Los Angeles, and I was a movie star and all that,” she stated playfully with a toss of her hair. “But, I’m sure that by now, you know I’m pretty low maintenance.” Chloe looked up at him with a smile and gave his butt a playful swat. Before she could say anything further, DJ had come to greet her and she dropped down to meet his gaze, hugging back in return. “Hey, kiddo. I missed you. What are you up to?” The young boy took her hand and pulled her towards the couch, motioning for her to take a seat. Her attention was diverted to Jack, who had moved to greet her, and she looked back at him with a smile. “Hello, Jack. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve heard good things about you.” He was definitely not what she had been expecting, and he seemed much more approachable and likable, which was definitely a good thing. “How are you enjoying Madison so far?” Sam chuckled as he leaned forward to unsuccessfully avoid her swat. “Pepperoni all around or do you want something different, Hollywood?” He teased and grabbed up his nearly empty bottle from the coffee table to make his way to the kitchen. DJ on the other hand was guiding Chloe to the couch and treating her like his very own personal guest. He was telling her about a goldfish named Mabel, his class’ new pet, and how cool she was. “We don’t get to take her home though because there’s a lot of us and only one of her, but we get to play with her in school.” “It’s nice to meet you, too,” Jack said, taking a seat when they did. “It’s - different. I like it so far, but I’ve heard some crazy stuff about it from nearly everyone I’ve met, like Sam was telling me everyone woke up once in a clown motel.” Sam reappeared then from the kitchen holding two cold bottles of beer in one hand while he typed on his phone with the other. “There we go,” he offered an open beer to Chloe and sat down next to her. “Pepperoni is just fine with me, I’m easy.” Chloe smiled and then gave DJ her attention, listening to him as he rattled off about school excitedly. It reminded her of when Trixie was younger, and how she would talk for hours if you let her. Now, they barely said much of anything to each other and it was disappointing. “How exactly does one play with a goldfish?” She questioned, making herself comfortable on the couch. “Oh, you have no idea, Jack. This place is insane. Did he tell you about the cruise ship? Then there was a time when we were in a different time with no electricity or running water. I think Dean was a pirate and Sam was a Knight.” She took the beer from Sam and took a quick pull, her hand moving to rest against his knee. “I’m sure you’ll get into all sorts of fun and crazy stuff while you’re here.” “We get to take turns feeding her! And she stares at us when we tap on the bowl and she swims around the hoop that my teacher bought for her. And one time the other day my friend Monty took her out of her bowl with the fish net wand thing and petted her. My teacher said we can’t do that anymore because she can’t breathe when we do.” DJ liked to talk, and the better he knew someone, the more he thought they were interested in the things he had to say so he told them a lot of things. When Chloe started talking to Jack, he liked Jack, he took his place back up on the floor and unpaused the cartoon he had been watching. Jack furrowed his brow a little. “Sam told me about not having electricity, but he didn’t mention that he was a knight and Dean was a pirate. He said I just missed it, but it sounds like it was fun. He told me all about the clown motel though, a lot about the clown motel, I guess because it was a traumatic experience.” Jack’s smile was barely contained when he mentioned it. Sam’s fear of clowns was legendary, at least it had been around the bunker. He remembered more than once Sam getting mad about a clown doll he found in his bed or somewhere in his room. Jack didn’t know for sure who had done it, but Rowena was at the top of his list of suspects. “You said you were a movie star?” he asked. “Are the movies you’re in ones we can find to watch here?” When Sam came back he was pleased to see Chloe and Jack talking, even though he had forgotten to make a proper introduction. There was no point in it now. He scooted a little closer to Chloe when she put her hand on his knee and put his arm up on the back of the couch with his hand resting on her shoulder. It was nice to be this comfortable with a woman again. To be close to her and not to have to have her in his lap, barely touching but the smallest of touches felt so intimate. Not to say he wouldn’t mind having her in his lap, but until they were alone or able to be really affectionate, this was what he liked. He laughed at Jack’s question. He had never seen Chloe’s movie before, and he was pretty interested. She had never heard DJ ramble on so much before, but felt a great deal of relief over it. He hadn't been the same since the incident with Lucifer, and it was good to see him back to his usual self. "The pirate thing happened a few months ago, I can't remember when exactly, but the electricity being out was recent. It was definitely a challenge." The clown motel was an experience she had put behind her, and forgotten, until Jack mentioned it again. "Yeah, the clown motel was definitely not my favorite thing, but at least none of the dolls came after us." There was a brief pause at the question of her brief career in Hollywood, and she looked at Jack with a smile. "Actually, my mother was the real star. I was only in one movie before I quit, and no, I don't think it's available in Madison. It's a horrible movie anyway, not even worth your time watching." The last thing she needed was Jack getting a good look at her chest. She wasn't even sure if she had mentioned that part to Sam. "Honestly, I wish I had never agreed to it in the first place, but I was young and stupid." Chloe shifted against the couch to lean her body against Sam, her head turning to rest in his shoulder. “I guess we all do things we regret when we’re young and stupid. At least that can’t come back to haunt you here.” Jack still didn’t really know how things like movies people were in at home, or books they had written worked here, whether they showed up too or not, but he was getting the hang of it, and basically, it varied from person to person. He was sure that Dean, Sam and Castiel, who had all been here much longer than the couple of weeks he had been here hadn’t told him everything there was to know or what they had all experienced, but that made this experience fun to him. It was something new and different, and something he could look forward to. Sam was glad that Chloe and Jack were talking and seemed to get along. They both had important places in his life and now everything seemed to be falling into place. He leaned over and placed a kiss on Chloe’s hair and put his arm more firmly around her and a knock sounded at the door. DJ excitedly yelled “Pizza!” and ran to get the door with Jack following just behind him. When DJ and Jack went to get the door, Chloe turned to Sam, her voice low. "Whatever you do, don't let Jack see the movie. I kind of take my top off." She looked at him with a crooked grin and stole a quick kiss from him, reaching out to run her fingers through his hair. “Maybe later on I can do a re-enactment for you?” She teased playfully before getting up from the couch to grab some plates and napkins for their pizza. |
