"Spirit is a good name for him," she decided, as the horse leaned his face down toward her. Laura stroked his nose lightly, enjoying the rather velvety feel of it. "You're so soft," she murmured, directing her words toward the horse. There was something about him that made her believe he understood what she was saying. Which is a reason why she chose to speak to him -- she wasn't usually one to speak without a purpose, and she wasn't one to speak to someone who wouldn't respond or understand.
She had a feeling Spirit would understand.
"How long has it been since you met him?" she asked Lucky. Lucky and Spirit seemed to understand each other quite well, Laura assumed they'd been in each other's lives for a while.
