Nancy couldn’t believe it was another new year with her still here in America. While she did miss home, she quite enjoyed the chance to have a life different from the one back home. There was no living on the streets or having demons use her body on a daily basis because of what she did for a living. If someone could even call what she did a living, Nancy wasn’t even paid most of the time. This was the first time she had a real job that she got paid for each week, and it was nice.
The best part of it all was her being able to do whatever she wanted without having to worry about a call because something happened with demons or the world was coming to an end. Tonight, she was enjoying the ability to go eat whatever she wanted without a care in the world. The whole demon vessel worked in her favor that way since she loved food. Walking with some Chinese for both her and her ward, Nancy figured if her ward wasn’t hungry, then it could go in the fridge until later. The sound of a horn honking brought her out of her thoughts, noticing a man standing in the road. Probably a newbie? Nancy could smell he was human or at least he wasn’t a demon. “Sorry,” she waved her free hand to the drivers, moving towards the man. “You must be new. Will you come out of the street, and I’ll try to help answer questions while we wait for the welcome crew,” she offered, hoping to get him out of the street. So much for eating warm food, but this was more important than her stomach.
