Re: Alyssa | Damien
Of course Damien could hear the uptick in her heartbeat. He could smell her arousal too if and when it happened. Most of the women in Midnight Harbor were trained to think of anything else besides how attractive a vampire might be in the presence of that vampire. Mostly because vampires tended to take advantage of that vulnerability. Damien didn't need to take advantage of it, but it was always a nice indicator as to how much a woman wanted him.
The kiss was sweet, light, and entirely too innocent for Damien's taste, but given where they were? It was entirely appropriate. Damien told Alyssa he could behave himself in the right setting and he could. For the time being, it suited him. It didn't mean that once they were away from prying eyes, like her sister's, Damien wouldn't give into his more primal urges. He told Alyssa he would make her squirm and he meant to make that statement true more than once tonight.
"I'll probably stick to bourbon." Damien blue eyes shifted over the sea of faces and the shimmering decorations filling nearly every inch of the museum. His gaze shifted back to Alyssa and he was about to compliment her sister on her impressive interior design skills when he saw the blond and her date looking directly at them. In fact, Alyssa offered them a wave. The arched brow was not lost on Damien. The other vampire knew everything that had happened between Kol and himself. No doubt he wasn't pleased about it either.
Damien was again reminded that in being with Alyssa he was making it a challenge for her and for himself. He was making enemies in order to simply escort her to a party. It was dangerous and while Damien enjoyed playing on the wild side of things? He wasn't Bran who lavished in the lifestyle. He was the wiser brother and right now, he was truly hearing alarm bells in her head.
"Your sister looks stunning. Her date looks like he might want to rip my head off and present it to her on silver platter." And being vampires, Damien knew they could both hear what he said, but he didn't care. They both knew it was true.
