Who: Qrow and Kristoff What: lunch Where: Red Pepper When: mid-Dec Warnings: low Status: g-doc
Kristoff decided he should actually reach out to his future brother-in-law and see if he wanted to get lunch. If Kristoff remembered correctly, Qrow was in recovery so getting a beer wouldn’t work. Of course, Kristoff himself didn’t drink much, just a beer here or there, so lunch worked well for him.
He figured the Red Pepper worked well enough. They had soups, which Kristoff always enjoyed, and sandwiches. With enough options, Kristoff figured both he and Qrow could find something they’d both like to eat.
The blonde stared at the soup options for a moment, off to the side, so others could order while he decided.
Since both Anna and Kristoff were important to Elsa, Qrow figured he should spend more time with them. A bit hard to do at times since they all worked and had their own lives plus dealing with whatever crap the dome threw at them. Luckily when Kristoff had invited him for lunch, Qrow had some free time and was more than willing to meet up with the other man.
He headed to the Red Pepper, a quick glance around and he spotted Kristoff. Heading to the table, he greeted him. "Hey," he said as he sat down. "Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."
Kristoff smiled at Qrow when the man sat. “Nope. I’ve only been here about two minutes. Which I obviously needed because I still don’t know what I want to eat.” Yes, they all had their own lives, plus unlike Qrow, Kristoff lived with Anna and Elsa, so he still got to see the two of them on a regular basis.
“How’s your day going?” Kristoff decided on a bowl of cauliflower soup with Moroccan spices and a chickpea salad sandwich. He didn’t follow veganism strictly, but Kristoff seemed to feel better if he ate more vegan.
“All set for Christmas?”
"I'm not surprised. The food here is pretty good, it's hard to choose." Unless he had an idea of what he wanted, but otherwise he had to take some time deciding on what he felt like eating.
Qrow himself ordered a BLT and fries along with a coke to drink. "It's been going alright. Working which hasn't been very eventful." But he still had the rest of the day to go so maybe that'll change later. "What about you?"
He shook his head. "Nah, not even my close. My dumb ass will probably leave everything to the last minute." But maybe he should get a start on a little bit of shopping at least. "You all set or nah?"
A BLT did sound good, but again, Kristoff didn’t want a lot of animal products as far as food went, although right now he kind of missed bacon. He did add an iced tea to his order. Sometimes he needed a break from sweets, given he lived with Anna and Elsa who were definitely addicted to chocolate.
“The food is delicious.” Kristoff nodded. “Work is usually pretty uneventful for me as well. Which, with everything else is probably a good thing.”
“The house and tree are decorated. Elsa and I decided to surprise Anna with a tree fully decorated. But, I’m not quite sure what to buy Anna at the moment. Somehow I don’t think a lifetime supply of chocolate will be a good choice,” he joked, knowing Qrow’s familiarity with the amount of sweets the sisters consumed.
"Yeah, sometimes you need a break from all the weirdness for a moment or two." Qrow had never been one to like when things were calm and quiet. But after living here for a few years and dealing with all that the dome has thrown at them, he'd come to appreciate it a little more.
"I haven't even begun with decorations." Maybe he'd ask Ruby if she wanted to help with that and pick out a tree. "And same, I have no clue what to get Elsa. Besides chocolate of course because yeah, that's probably not a good idea." Okay, maybe some chocolate. He wasn't cruel enough to deny Elsa chocolate.
“I used to think I loved chocolate. Then I met Anna and realized I enjoy chocolate, because even I have limits that Anna and Elsa seem to never meet.” Kristoff shrugged, grinning about the women in their lives and chocolate. “It’s hard to beat out a wedding or an engagement ring.” Kristoff bought a few little things, like a puzzle made from a photo he provided, and a scarf.
“Maybe we should create a hot chocolate bar for them,” he joked. At least Sven proved easy. Just get him some carrots, hay, and sugar cubes. There. Done.
"Same. I do like chocolate but not that much. I usually have to make sure I have plenty at the house for Elsa and my niece." Because Ruby liked chocolate too as well as other sweets. But he didn't mind. If it made both of them happy, then he'd buy all the chocolate in the world. "I know. I don't know how we'll ever top that." It didn't mean he wouldn't try, though.
"Maybe," he laughed but then thought for a moment. "Actually, that's not a bad idea."
“Yes. Our house always has plenty of chocolate. I’m just happy Anna didn’t mind having two flavours of cakes for the wedding, so I could have a non-chocolate one.” Even at Starbucks, Kristoff generally avoided any drink which included chocolate, knowing he could have some chocolate at home.
“Nope, we definitely can’t top that. I’m glad, though, that Elsa has someone here for her. My sister-in-law deserves happiness.” Kristoff loved Elsa like a sister after all. “But…I bet if we gave them a hot chocolate bar as part of a gift that would still light up their eyes.”
"We haven't done any wedding planning yet, but I'm definitely making sure there's another flavour of cake." Of course Qrow would still let Elsa have her chocolate cake, but it wouldn't hurt having a non-chocolate one. But he'd worry about that another time.
"She really does. Can't say it was easy at first, but I'm very lucky to have her." Which was saying a lot since Qrow was quite literally a bad luck charm. But Elsa had always made him feel more lucky than not. "And you're right. They'll definitely love it."
Kristoff assumed when wedding planning began Anna would help Elsa the way Elsa helped Anna. The two were never far apart from each other. “I appreciate an additional cake flavour.”
“So we’ll create a hot chocolate bar for them. I’ll see if Alyssa will make marshmallows. I can make some gingerbread man mug toppers.” Kristoff smiled. “I don’t judge. Anna and I didn’t have an easy start to our relationship.” That damn Hans.
