Nate had been cooped up in the house more than he probably should; ever since he had arrived in town, he had found it hard to go out and see all of the people enjoying their holiday festivities. All of that cheer made him miss Sophie and the rest of the team, and the thought of even the slightest possibility of never seeing them again broke his heart. Yes, he had been about to retire back home, but he had never once intended to never see his team again. He was going to marry Sophie and he would never ask her to never see the three people that had saved both of their lives more than once. And then there was the fact that his team had kept him from falling all the way down after the loss of his son. Somehow they had all came into his life at just the right time, and for that he would always be grateful. The sad thoughts rushing through his mind had made his first weeks in this new town very hard, but he was also determined to not spiral further down. That would be a dishonor to the very people that had saved him the first time, and the last thing he wanted to do was let them down in anyway. It was that promise to himself....and them, wherever they may be, that led him to rise early that morning and go about decorating his apartment. With each added decoration he found himself thinking of a different person that he had left behind, and by the time he was finished he saw a full image of his team within his own mind. It had been several hours since he had gotten started, so he was very ready for lunch and a nice hot shower. So, he went about doing just that; lunch first and then an extended shower. He took the time to enjoy it, using the hot water to relax and ease the aching joints in his body. Then he sat down with a good book and enjoyed some quiet time on the couch, but a few hours later when dinner time was approaching he made a quick call. He decided that takeout wasn't an option tonight. He needed to spend more time out of the house, so he would head out and find himself something to eat. In the end he chose a place called Homebrew, because he had always enjoyed pub food and the atmosphere in places like that. He chose the booth nearest to the back that was open and waited for a waitress to approach his table. |
