Ruby and Nikita
Nikita had seen more than enough people die in front of her, and some at her own hands that she knew very well the damage it could have on a person. Even with it being fake from a game, she knew the impact was still there. Hell, the whole dying thing was lingering in her head and how painful it was; however, she’d been through so much for years now it was easier to put that aside and focus on Ruby. Just like if this was Alex, Ruby came first and she had to make sure the girl was okay or as okay as can be.
“I’m right here, and I’m fine, I promise,” she said softly, hugging Ruby and rubbing her back for the moment in hopes she’d feel a bit better. “I’ll let you in on a little secret that very few people know. Alex is one of the few around here who does, but I’m a lot harder to kill, okay? People have been trying for years, and I’m still around. If that had been real, there is no way I’d end up dead.” Or at least, Nikita would’ve put up more than a fight. The bad guy would’ve been in a lot more pain, and it’s why the game wasn’t having much impact other than how she died on Nikita. She knew there was no way it’d be that easy to get her out of the picture.
Nikita tilted her head, challenging that it’s okay with a look, but leaving it alone for the moment. Ruby knew she was always free to say whatever to Nikita and it would stay between them; however, she wasn’t about to force it. “Still, you won and that’s a big deal. I know I’m not the only one, but I’ll always take the hit to keep you from getting hurt. Like I’ve told you before you’re family, and for me, that’s a big deal. Only family I ever had was the one I created, which you’re apart of so that means you’re stuck with me watching out for you.” Nikita told her with a smile, meaning every word of that.
