Who: Bex, Marcel, and Ghost!Josh (with a brief Alyssa appearance) What: Marcel has a ghost buddy Where: Bex’s kitchen When: ghost plot (before Cami and Marcel) Warnings: low Status: closed/g-doc
So far Marcel dealt with crazy in this place well enough. Woke up on a cruise with Bex? They’d gone exploring. Woke up in Medieval Times with two children? Weird, but not as terrible as one might expect. The only thing he truly hated was when The Dome had decided to kidnap Alyssa and when Kol managed to rescue her, she’d been really injured.
This morning Marcel decided to stop by the house and bring both Bex and Alyssa coffee. He figured they could both use it. With Irina being sent home, he knew they’d all been a bit stressed. When Alyssa answered the door, Marcel immediately noticed she looked like she hadn’t slept. He opened his mouth when he heard, “She looks almost worse than when Davina lost Kol. Why does she have wings?”
Marcel startled so hard he almost dropped the coffee as the vampire noticed Josh. Alyssa grabbed the tray of coffee. “Bex,” she called out, “Marcel brought us coffee.” As she walked away, Marcel didn’t think Josh’s observation as wrong, but he turned to Josh. “How…are you here?”
“Don’t know, man.”
Alyssa set the coffees in the kitchen and took one with her to the backyard where Marcel noticed an easel sat, half-done.
With Irina gone, Rebekah had taken on more responsibility in order to help Claudia in keeping the museum running smoothly. In the hustle and bustle of work, she didn’t have a lot of time to process the loss of her niece or what the young woman would be going back to. The only comfort was that at least Rebekah had the chance to know her and even change her perception about the Russian before she was sent back home.
She was up in her office, going over some recent purchases when she heard Alyssa call out that Marcel was here and he brought coffee. “Right bloody on time too.” Rebekah closed her laptop and followed her nose to the kitchen. Spotting the coffees and Marcel, the blond offered him a tired smile.
“Hello, love. Thank you for the caffeine-fix.” Rebekah eagerly plucked a coffee from the tray and, without adding anything, took a small sip. Yes, she was desperate for a little pick-me-up right now.
After the sip, Rebekah set the coffee down and opened the fridge for her creamer. “How are things with you? Besides the museum being in an uproar right now.” The blond added a little to the coffee and returned it to the fridge before digging out the sugar.
Marcel watched Bex take a sip of coffee, glad he could provide that comfort. He knew how busy they’d all been so far. “Claudia needs an assistant.”
Josh interrupted and said, “Again, why does the girl have wings? And, have we progressed past the ‘will they won’t they’ stage in your relationship with Rebekah?” Both valid questions, but not ones he felt like discussing at the moment.
“So…Josh’s ghost is here,” Marcel told the original. He turned to Josh. “She’s from Wonderland. So she has wings.” He did chuckle at Josh’s follow up question. “I’m working on it, Josh.” He sipped at his coffee, a dark roast, black, and helped himself to a little of the cream when Rebekah finished with it.
“Anything for you, Bex.”
“And I fully plan on helping her-” Rebekah broke off and nearly dropped the jar of sugar at Marcel’s words. Josh’s ghost was here. What? Rebekah quickly replaced the sugar on the counter and turned her attention back to Marcel. Blue eyes studied him as he explained to no one that Alyssa was from Wonderland and then added something about ‘working on it.’ What?
Now, Rebekah knew ghosts existed in their world and here, but this was the first she was hearing of Josh popping up. Was he here to stay or was this temporary? It was difficult to tell with the Dome, especially since there were a few permanent ghost residents here.
“So, um, love, when did Josh’s ghost decide to grace us all with his presence?” Rebekah reached for her coffee and took a sip. Maybe she should have added bourbon to it instead of creamer at this point.
Marcel didn’t like to hide things from Bex. At all. “I have no doubt you’ll help her.” He watched as Bex caught the sugar jar in time, before she placed it back on the counter. “Josh seems interested in where we’re at as a couple.”
Josh shrugged. “I got my happy ending. I want to know if you get one.” “He appeared as I showed up here with coffee. Wait, Josh, you…are you with Aiden?” Marcel thought nobody deserved a happier ending than Josh, except perhaps Davina and she got one with Kol.
Rebekah almost choked on her coffee. He comes back from the dead and the first thing he’s wondering about is whether Marcel and her were a bloody couple? Then again, since Davina wasn’t around, Marcel was like his next best friend. It made sense why he would want to know about Marcel’s life and obviously, their relationship was a big part of that.
“Well, I suppose we are progressing. Mostly,” Rebekah replied carefully. They’d kissed before going into the portal to the Upside Down, but things had been tame ever since. The blond didn’t want to push anything and she knew Marcel was the same. He wanted her to come to the decision to be with him on her own.
“Weird that he showed up. You think he would be busy with Aiden.” Since they were both sadly dead. Or maybe getting busy with was the better sentiment?
Josh shrugged. “I don’t know why I’m here. But I’m happy with Aiden. And tell Rebekah to not choke.” Marcel sighed. “Josh would like you to not choke. Also he’s happy.”
Rebekah needed time and Marcel knew to give it to her. Pressing Rebekah would not serve anyone well, least of all Marcel. But that kiss at least gave him hope.
“I don’t know why I’m here.” Josh shrugged and then grinned again. He liked Marcel and teasing him. With his death, Josh didn’t exactly fear Rebekah anymore. Out of the originals, he liked Bex the most, outside of Freya, obviously.
“Are her other siblings here?” Marcel nodded. “Kol, Klaus, and Elijah are here.” After another sip of coffee, Marcel walked over and squeezed Bex’s shoulder, before resting his hand there. “I think Josh wants to catch up.”
At Josh’s comment, the original vampire barely refrained from rolling her eyes. “Well, Josh needs to focus on his own happiness and stay out of my relationship.” The vampire took another sip of coffee before sighing. “Though, I appreciate the concern. I don’t plan on choking, love. But things are never that simple.” At least not where the Mikaelsons were ever concerned.
Rebekah appreciated the squeeze to her shoulder and she offered him a smile in return. “At least they can’t harm you now. I know that doesn’t help. They have changed too.” Rebekah would argue for the better, but she knew Kol was also from a point in the timeline where he still very much despised the three of them.
“Well, he’s welcome to stick around here with you and we can. I could use a break from work anyway for a little while. Crunching numbers is exhausting.” While Irina had kept impeccable records, there were just a lot of them and it would take time to go through all of them.
Marcel knew how hard Bex and Claudia worked with the disappearance of Irina. Claudia started taking work home and one assistant wasn’t near enough, not even if the assistant was Midge. “You deserve a break. Why don’t I call for some takeout for us?”
Josh grinned. “You can tell me everything you’ve been up to in this place. Including what job has Rebekah so busy.” The ghost wasn’t used to seeing any Original that intent on work, unless it involved witchcraft and world domination. The ghost shrugged his shoulders and looked at Marcel. “The fact they can’t harm me does make me feel better right now.”
Unfortunately, Kol despising his siblings wouldn’t be fixed for a number of years in his timeline. Which didn’t make Marcel’s life in this place any easier.
“Perfect. Order whatever you like and I’ll polish off the rest of this coffee, love,” Rebekah replied, taking another sip from the Starbucks carryout cup.
A break would be nice and it’d obviously been a while since either of them had conversed with Josh. The blond never had an issue with the other vampire, but she knew her siblings were different, particularly Klaus and Kol. However, because they couldn’t see Josh, he wasn’t in any danger from them.
“I’d like to do something that doesn’t involve purchasing expensive art for a while.”
