Who: Eve and Savannah What: Eve sees a ghost Where: Madison streets When: Oct. 29th morning Warnings: None Status: closed/g-doc
Savannah, thankfully, hadn’t been visited by any ghosts, which made the brunette feel rather fortunate. This morning she planned on picking up coffee and pastries for her and Paige. After her return from home, the witch felt more comfortable in her life here. It helped that she and her mom found a way to spend time together every Monday at the very least.
She had just crossed the street when she noticed Eve. “Hey Mom.” Savannah walked over to hug Eve and see if she wanted to get dinner that evening. The brunette planned on seeing Adam later, but he’d understand if she spent time with Eve first.
Eve should have stayed home today, but she was on her way to the magic shop in desperate need of finding a spell for exorcism. Annoyingly, none of the ones she knew, or even her sword, was working on her current problem and Eve was entirely displeased.
“Fuck.” This was how she greeted Savannah with a bit of an ‘oh shit’ expression which probably was not exactly the best way to greet anyone, especially her daughter. A few more choice swears ran through her head. While she’d like to turn heel and go, there was little Eve could do now.
“I swear to God if you say one more thing about her, I will make it painful.” She chastised the space beside her.
Savannah might look confused because…well her mom seemed to be talking to someone the witch couldn’t see.
“Nice to see you too, Mom.” Savannah eyed her mother, especially with the expression on Eve’s face.
“What exactly is happening?” And by her Savannah assumed Eve meant her. Or maybe she was reading too much into the situation?
The problem was that Eve had made a bit of an empty threat, or at least for the moment. The second Eve had seen Leah, Eve had swung the sword to cleave the dead woman in half. The sword had passed right through her for no good reason except for the explanation that this was the Dome’s doing and it didn’t want Eve to interfere with whatever the Dome was doing. Eve had tried a few more discreet ways of hurting Leah to send her away, but none of them had any effect.
It was beyond annoying.
Eve really didn’t want to do this, but lying to Savannah felt wrong too. She heard about what had happened the last time Leah was involved and how keeping things ended poorly. Not again.
She rubbed her forehead. “I woke up to a ghost bothering me. Which isn’t out of the ordinary, but this one is from back home. And she can’t seem to leave my side either.” This part, while annoying, was actually something Eve was grateful for - if Leah was going to be here, she wanted to keep an eye on her.
“It’s Leah.”
Savannah lost whatever relaxed expression she wore at the uttered name. She loathed Leah in a way the witch couldn’t describe. That damn woman could rot in the depths of Hell for all she cared.
“Oh good. Leah can fucking bite me.” Savannah might not be able to see her, but it didn’t mean Leah couldn’t hear the witch.
“Well that sounds like a terrible way to wake up, Mom.” Savannah hugged Eve. “I’m sorry I can’t really help.” If Eve’s sword couldn’t work, it seemed unlike any of Savannah’s magic would work.
Eve maybe shouldn’t have smiled at Savannah’s reaction. Maybe she should have said something like ‘manner’ or whatever, but that wasn’t either of their style and Eve felt the same way about the half-demon ghost.
She accepted the hug and then offered a shrug. “Well, if you feel like calling her a variety of names while she can’t talk back at you, go for it.” Sure, Eve would be able to hear Leah’s comebacks, but she’d dealt with more annoying things. “I was on my way to the magic shop though to see if there’s something there that might help. Even if I can just mute her, that’d be nice.” But if Eve couldn’t banish her, she wanted eyes on Leah as much as possible. While it seemed like the rules for her ghost were different from the ones Eve knew, she still didn’t want to risk it with Savannah around.
Savannah didn’t usually care what came out of her mouth. Not even around her parents, especially given that neither of them could be called model citizens.
What an offer. Savannah shrugged. “As fun as that would be, I think it’s far more fun to not give her the satisfaction.” Then she grinned. “I still won anyway.” Even with Leah’s attempts Savannah still managed to make everything okay for Kayla and her grandmother.
“Do you want company? I bet muting her would be so satisfying.”
“I would love some company.” Eve also thought that ignoring and muting Leah were the best options. She was one of those people who thrived on people reacting to her and, pun intended, it probably killed her when she was ignored like she wasn’t there. “We can treat it as a mother-daughter outing. Like picking out dresses, but more fun.” At least for Eve. Magic would always be more fun for her than shopping for clothes. Jaime would no doubt disagree with her.
Savannah continued to walk with her mother. She had things she wanted to talk about, but not with Leah in earshot. The witch hadn’t been able to make up with Q before he got sent home and she found it bothered her more than it should. Plus, she missed him.
“That sounds good to me. We’re due for a mother/daughter outing anyway.”
Eve smiled. Despite currently having to endure Leah singing a repetitive song at the moment as if to drive her insane. Thankfully Eve could thrive on petty and so she’d go deaf before she let Leah know the song was driving her nuts. Besides, she was spending some time with her daughter.
