Who: Alyssa, Kol, and for some reason Elijah What: finding Alyssa Where: Upside Down Alyssa When:later on Oct. 18th Warnings: some violence Status: closed/g-doc
Alyssa most definitely did not like this turn of events for herself. Generally she could adapt to any situation. Like, finding herself in Medieval Times, or a fucking clown hotel? Not a problem. And seeing as how she hailed from Wonderland, very few things actually scared her. At first, this Upside Down version of Madison Valley had been like a drug induced trip; strange, but not terrifying. Her house was her house, but it had been claimed by the wild. If someone asked her to describe Briar Rose’s castle and briars, she would have imagined this.
Unfortunately, given she’d run into a few dangerous creatures, the Netherling felt concern. Alyssa’s powers, while impressive, wouldn’t be a lot of help. And, it seemed in this world, plants didn’t obey her like in Madison Valley, at least not to the extent they did back home. When a creature lunged at Alyssa, the flora around her spoke, but didn’t obey her commands.
She could dodge. And hide. But no place felt very safe and she didn’t want to fall asleep. Alyssa managed as best as she could until exhaustion started to overtake her. The idea of sleep terrified her because she had yet to come across anyone who might watch her back while she slept. Due to her exhaustion, though, Alyssa didn’t hear the weird bat creature. A guttural “FUUUUUUUUUUUCK” escaped her lips as the creature tore into one of her wings, and managed to get its claws in her arm before she swatted it with a crowbar she’d located earlier.
Having seen his sister’s post on the network about Alyssa missing, Kol knew instantly where the fairy girl could have gone. There was a new portal that had opened up in town and weird, dangerous creatures were coming out of it. Kol had little doubt that place had taken Alyssa as it had taken others around town. And there was no way Kol was going to let whatever freak show lay on the other side take away one of his closest friends.
Being that Kol was a weapon by simply existing, the original vampire fed heavily from a few blood bags before venturing through the portal. It was Madison Valley except far darker and filled with way too many plants. On one hand, it felt like the ideal place for someone like Alyssa that could speak to plants. However, these plants weren’t normal plants and as Kol walked, they stretched, reaching out towards him with thick limbs.
A few times, they managed to grab him by the ankle, but the vampire ripped them apart with his supernatural strength. All the while, he sniffed the air, hoping to pick up Alyssa’s scent; his ears strained to hear her heartbeat. So far, there was nothing and Kol tried to keep his growing worry for Alyssa at bay. He knew she was a tough girl and could take care of herself, but there was danger crawling all over this Madison Valley. If something snagged her wings…
The sound of a familiar voice screaming “Fuck” filled the air and Kol took off like a jet in the direction it came from. It didn’t take long for Kol to locate Alyssa. As he suspected from the smell of blood thick in the air, Alyssa was wounded and looked worse for wear. Her wing was ripped. Swallowing down his blood lust, Kol scanned the area for a weapon. Spotting broken glass, Kol grasped one of the sharp pieces and propelled himself forward, leaping into the air and grabbed the creature. Raising the glass, Kol brought it down and with all his strength, stabbed it in the head.
Elijah had noticed his sister’s post as well. Like Kol, he’d drank some blood bangs to satiate himself. Given the girl seemed important to two of his siblings, including his baby sister, Elijah decided to go in the portal to try and locate the girl; go and do something for his siblings. He noticed Kol entered the portal, but Elijah got waylaid by a couple creatures trying to escape into regular Madison Valley and like hell Elijah wanted those things in a place where his niece and baby sister still remained.
He’d just about caught up to Kol when he heard a girl scream “Fuck” and Kol took off again. When he caught up to the pair he looked at the scene grimmly. She didn’t look in any condition to fight and Kol would need help, carrying her and keeping the creatures away from them. Not that Elijah would phrase it as such.
“I take back every rude thing I said about the clown motel,” Elijah commented when Kol landed. Another creature headed their way, and Elijah wasted no time snapping the weird bat creature’s neck.
Alyssa stared at Kol when he lunged at the creature. Call it shock, because ordinarily the Red Queen fully believed Bex or Kol would care enough to come find her. But for the moment she couldn’t be sure what she saw was actual reality or this place playing tricks on her. The exhaustion and pain didn’t help either.
“...Kol?” she started before a voice interrupted her and someone in a suit made quick work of one of the bats. Alyssa wanted to sob in relief, but not until she knew it was Kol. And at this point, she wouldn’t be shocked to find out her mind started to play tricks on her.
Despite the tense situation, Kol glanced over at his brother with a cheeky grin on his face. “How about every rude thing you ever said about me, brother?” Truthfully, Kol languished in violence. He ate it up. Blood. Death. Destruction. All of it was a fitting venue for his overpowering vampire emotions. Though he’d come in here in search of someone he cared for, Kol was having fun. The next best thing to magic and sex was killing and watching the life leave from something’s eyes. Knowing you caused it. The power. It was intoxicating.
Kol’s brown eyes were rather wild and that infamous reckless attitude was starting to show itself. Until he heard that little voice utter his name amongst the chaos unfolding around them. Inside his head. The original vampire turned, catching sight of the wounded young girl, and quickly covered the distance between the two of them. Kneeling down in front of her, Kol cupped the fairy girl’s face, and looked deeply into her eyes.
“It’s me, Little Butterfly,” Kol said gently. “I promise. Are you alright?”
Elijah didn’t respond immediately, given one of those damn creatures lunged for the young woman. He ripped out its throat and sighed when it spattered its guts on his suit. “I should have seen that coming. But yes, Kol, also most of the rude things I’ve said to you.” He still stood by some of the times his youngest brother exasperated him by playing with his meals.
The cheeky grin caused Elijah to shake his head and he couldn’t help how good it felt to see that familiar expression on his brother’s face.
What utterly shocked Elijah was how quickly the expression switched when the little voice called out to Kol. While Elijah knew Kol’s capacity to love, given how deeply he loved his Little Witch, the older original had never seen it with someone outside of Davina or Rebekah. Certainly not with someone who wasn’t romantically involved with Kol.
At the feel of the familiar hands cupping her face, of seeing those chocolate brown eyes who had been a keeper of her secrets and a dear friend, the Little Butterfly felt a relief she couldn’t explain. Wouldn’t be able to put into words how badly she’d needed someone to rescue her this time.
She even managed to hold back her tears, blinking them back as much as she could, as her arms wrapped around Kol, holding him tightly. “I don’t like it here. The plants won’t listen to me and…” she finally voiced something she hated to admit. “I’m scared.” The pain hadn’t hit Alyssa yet, but when it did she didn’t know how she’d stand, let alone help get them home without being more injured.
And that was what did her in, what brought the tears forth, that she couldn’t save herself this time, even amidst the relief in seeing Kol.
Kol was…complicated. On one hand, he could be violent, reckless, and unpredictable. On the other, when he truly cared for someone, he was capable of love and being kind, even gentle. Alyssa happened to be someone he cared deeply for. Their little venture in the Renaissance as siblings had solidified their relationship as more than friends. They were family now and Kol would do anything in his power to protect her, to make her feel safe again.
“We’ll see if you say the same in a situation where we are not fighting for our lives, brother!” Kol yelled over his shoulder. “In the meantime, I shall say words I never thought possible and say I am grateful for the cover you’re providing for us both!” Elijah fighting off the plants and various creatures granted Kol the time he needed to get Alyssa to focus on him and not the violence unfolding around her.
Kol caught the tears shining in her eyes before she blinked them back and the way her voice trembled as she admitted she was scared. When her arms wrapped around him, Kol pulled her close, holding her tightly. His pale fingers stroked her hair. “I know, darling. I’m going to get you out of here, okay? Just hold on to me and don’t let go.”
Carefully, Kol lifted her in his arms, holding her close to his chest just as her tears damped his shirt. The original vampire pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “Don’t cry, Alyssa. It will be okay.” There were healers in town. Her wing would be better in no time. Once Kol and Elijah got them out of here.
Speeding back to his brother, Kol nodded in the direction he’d just come. “We have to get out of here as fast as possible. Alyssa’s badly injured. I’m going to run the rest of the way to the opening, but, and I hate myself for saying this, I need you to draw the fire away from us. Can you do that, brother?”
Elijah nodded. “I guess we will,” he shouted back as Kol started to move. “I know it took a lot for you to say those words.” One of the creatures jumped and Elijah jumped on its back, snapping its neck.
He didn’t mind following behind, because Kol had his hands full with someone he obviously cared about. “I can do that. Get out of here.” Elijah would do his best to keep up and fight the creatures who seemed intent on keeping Kol from reaching his destination.
The original picked up the crowbar that Alyssa dropped. While he thought of himself as a weapon, the crowbar seemed like a good idea. Anything to help keep the creatures from attacking his brother and the young woman.
Alyssa heard Kol’s words and felt the kiss pressed to her head. Her arms tightened around Kol’s neck and closed her eyes, to try and not see the creatures coming at them. Plus, the pain had started to set in, especially around her wing. “Okay. I trust you, Kol.” She did, implicitly, the way one trusted a beloved sibling. The tears kept falling, although the Netherling tried, again, to blink them back. The pain, though, made it near impossible, and she found she couldn’t think straight.
Kol nodded. “Thank you, brother. Maybe, when we get back, we can have a drink.” It was a rare peace offering from Kol. No, he didn’t forgive Elijah for being part of everytime Klaus had daggered him, but it was a start. Madison Valley was all about new beginnings, right? Despite his distrust, Kol was willing to try and start over. At least with Elijah and Rebekah. Klaus would always be more difficult, but right now was not the time to dwell on his fucked up family history.
The original vampire took off, doing his best to dodge the creatures and vines that snaked out of the darkest corners of this place. Despite the darkness, Kol’s enhanced vision picked up the silver of light from the opening of the portal. If he could just get through it, Alyssa would be okay. There were people that could heal her. Kol had considered offering Alyssa his blood, but ultimately, he decided against it. The vampire didn’t know what her physiology consisted of and her body could very well reject the blood, putting her in even more danger. No, he was willing to let the doctors in town take a look at her before he even considered that suggestion.
Suddenly, vine shot out, grabbing for Kol’s waist. Pressing Alyssa close to his chest, Kol jumped over it with ease. Dodging a bat-like creature diving from the sky, Kol flung himself through the portal, positioning his body so that he took the brunt of the hit as the ground came rushing up to meet them.
“I’d like that, Kol.” Elijah really did want to try and be a better older brother to his siblings, with his second chance at life. Hell, he wanted to be nicer to Marcel too. And Elijah knew how much it took for Kol to make the offer. He also wanted to make the acquaintance of the winged girl in his brother’s arms.
As Kol dashed off, Elijah followed behind slowed as he took out the beasts hellbent on grabbing Kol and Alyssa. The original ended up throwing the crowbar like a tomahawk, cutting the vine in half that threatened to grab Kol.
As Elijah jumped through the portal, he landed on the back of one of the dog-like creatures, snapping its neck. “Will never complain about fucking clowns again.”
Alyssa kept her eyes closed and held on tight to Kol. She didn’t want to see this place any longer and she felt so exhausted. Opening her eyes felt like too much effort and the Netherling had nothing left in her energy reserve, except to cry.
When Kol landed, Alyssa bit her tongue to keep from yelping as pain ricocheted through her body. “Thank you. Both of you.” Alyssa offered a tired smile, trying to think past the ache in her wings. Her eyes widened as she looked around and saw some more of those creatures pouring out of the portal. “Shit.”
As Elijah came through the portal, Kol offered his brother a brief smirk. “The clowns were nothing compared to these creatures.” And there were more coming too. Kol barely had a moment to offer Alyssa a reassuring smile before they flooded out of the portal.
“Alright. I’m rushing you to the clinic. We are getting out of here now.” Kol’s gaze shifted back to his brother’s face. “You’re welcome to tag along, but I have to get her to the clinic now. I’ll rip those sons of bitches apart after I know Alyssa is safe.”
Not waiting for a response, Kol took off in the direction of the clinic. If his brother kept up, he was welcome to. Otherwise, Kol’s attention was all for Alyssa.
Elijah planned on following Kol until he knew both of them were delivered to the clinic safely. He didn’t want any of these creatures getting a hold of Kol or Alyssa given they needed to get her help. “I’ll tag along. I want to be sure we get her there so you get your chance.” Kol’s desire for violence didn’t always make sense to his older brother, but in this case? Perfect fucking sense.
He continued following his brother, slashing at creatures.
Alyssa hoped Kol destroyed them all. She may have shown mercy towards Kenny, but mercy wasn’t a characteristic often displayed by those from Wonderland. Kenny just happened to be someone she liked who hadn’t been of his right mind.
“When you rip them apart, rip one apart for me, please,” she managed to get out, the pain in her wing occupying almost all of her brain space.
With Kol’s speed, it didn’t take long for them to arrive outside the clinic. He sensed Elijah behind him and heard Alyssa’s words. Yes, he would rip them apart. All of them for her. “I promise you. I will rip them all apart for you.” He pressed another kiss to her forehead, brown eyes monetarily going soft as he gazed at her, before he tugged open the door to the clinic and stepped inside.
Hopefully, there would be someone there who could help her. Kol wanted his blood to be the last option, especially given Alyssa’s physiology.
