Melinda and Ellen
Ellen stumbled when her foot came down on grassy soil and not the tiled floor of her bathroom. She looked around at the park. There were pumpkins everywhere, as well as a few skeletons suspended from trees, and ghosts, and a few plastic tombstones here and there.
A huge screen attended by ranks of chairs and open spaces for blankets told the tale. The park had been set up for the Halloween movie marathon Melinda Halliwell was planning. But that was still a couple of weeks away.
Wasn't it? Ellen reached for her phone--and realized she was wearing jeans and a sweater instead of the bathrobe she'd had on a minute ago, as she was preparing for bed. Clothes--but no phone, and no apartment key. Nothing in her pockets, in fact.
She approached a woman in black wearing an orange tutu and headband. "Excuse me, are you Melinda Halliwell? Can you tell me, what day is it? I...seem to have lost some time."
