Losing Linda and Hayley meant that Cami lost most of her social life in Madison Valley. It seemed that she was getting it back lately though, between Marcel and Elijah being here. She was hopeful that Klaus wouldn’t object to her having a weekly game night with his brother and she tried to get out with Marcel at least once every other week if not more often. Especially since she knew he was struggling since Bex still hadn’t made a choice between him and the guy she started seeing here.
Tonight they were at Pandemonium, looking for easy marks to compel and feed from. She leaned against the bar, drink in hand, as she surveyed the crowd. “We should hit the dance floor,” she said. “Probably do better finding good options.”
Marcel was slowly reaching a point with Bex where he wanted her to make a decision. Even if it wasn’t him. This weird No Man’s Land had been going on for a few months. He loved her to the ends of the Earth, but it also felt weirdly unfair to both him and Barry, although he cared less about Barry.
Tonight he wanted time with his friend. Marcel could tell Cami missed Hayley and Linda, although he hadn’t actually met Linda. So, he wanted to be as good a friend as he could.
“Definitely the dance floor,” Marcel responded with his boyish grin. “I think that guy is eyeing you.” He pointed out an attractive guy who would be a very easy mark for Cami.
Cami followed his gaze and smirked. The kid looked barely old enough to be in the club which meant that Marcel was right about him being an easy mark. “Did you notice those two cougars who look like they want to eat you for breakfast?” she asked. She wasn’t skilled enough to compel two people at the same time, but Marcel had a lot more practice.
“Come on, take me for a spin,” she said, holding out her hand to him.
Marcel grinned at the two older women who were obviously trying to catch his attention, while simultaneously not looking like they were.
“I’d love nothing more, Cami.” He took her hand and brought her to the dance floor, spinning her once for effect. As they moved together, he leaned in and whispered, “Do you want me to move towards the guy from earlier or the one to your 3 O’Clock?” The new guy looked a little older, so possibly more of a challenge, but his eyes stared daggers at Marcel, so she might have an easier time.
New guy also looked a bit sturdier which meant he could probably sustain the blood loss better than the first one which meant Cami could take a little more. “If looks could kill, you’d be dead,” she joked. “I think new guy is a better option.”
Looking over his shoulder, she noticed the two women were whispering to each other between casting dirty looks at her. Humans were so petty. Cami couldn’t remember being like that before she was turned.
“Too bad I’m harder to kill than the average guy, Cami.” He smirked. “I agree with your decision.” Marcel spun Cami hard enough so her momentum would get her to the guy. Anyone would think he’d made a mistake, but obviously Cami knew the point of it.
Cami would never be that petty and honestly Marcel didn’t know if he wanted to compel two people at once, but they wasted no time in dancing with Marcel.
“Oops, I’m so sorry,” Cami said, her voice a bit higher pitched than normal as she batted her eyelashes at the guy she’d just bumped into. “Can I buy you a drink to apologize?” He seemed like he was pretty well on his way to wasted already which would make it that much easier to compel him.
Naturally he accepted her offer and they went to the bar. About halfway through their drinks, Cami led him into a dark corner where they would have privacy. Poor guy thought he was going to get lucky. Instead, she compelled him to relax and then lifted his wrist to her mouth so she could drink. After taking her fill, she let his arm fall back to his side. Even though he had a dazed look in his eyes, she compelled him to remember their encounter as a brief make out session and then led him to one of the tables to sit before going back to the bar to have the bartender send him some orange juice and pretzels.
Satisfied, she glanced around looking for Marcel.
Marcel held out a hand and the older woman followed him on the dance floor. He looked her dead in the eyes and compelled her to follow him to a supply closet. Feeding from her wrist, Marcel enjoyed the taste of the blood. Stopping before she experienced too much danger, Marcel kissed her and compelled her to remember they kissed before she took her friend home for the evening.
He ordered two more drinks and spotted Cami. “Here. I thought you might want a drink.” Marcel smiled at his friend and could tell she’d fed.
Cami grinned at him and gratefully accepted the drink. “Cheers,” she said, clinking her glass against his. “We should do this more often.” It was a lot more fun with a friend than when she went out on her own. And going with Klaus was, well… difficult because of their obvious bond.
“Want to go grab burgers or something after this drink?”
“I agree.” He grinned, happy to have time with Cami. The two of them could easily pull off a little compulsion together. As good friends, but no longer romantically involved, people would buy into them going off with other people easily.
“Yes. I’m always down for burgers.” He grinned and finished his glass.
