Who: Chloe and Savannah What: searching for the sword Where: Wonderland portal When: day 2 Warnings: low Status: g-doc/closed
Savannah felt many things right now. Mostly she felt sorrow over the fight she’d had with her mom. She’d missed the adolescent fights most teens had with their parents, on account of her mother’s death. But she also felt like her privacy was violated, as well as her friend’s, when Eve showed up at Kol’s. Savannah had, of course, talked to both Eve and Adam before she escaped into a portal, but it didn’t make things easier.
Today, though, she decided to focus on hanging out with Chloe in the Wonderland portal. Of course, this portal didn’t look anything like the Wonderland in the movies. Not that she’d expect it to, given Alyssa’s wings she sported full-time these days.
At this point, Savannah groaned. “So, we’re in the Heart of Wonderland. We need to find a sword. Nothing makes sense and I’m pretty sure this corset could be a little looser. So, do we want to go left or right?”
Chloe had known that something was bothering her friend, but she didn’t pry. She was just happy to be spending some time with her. She figured that if Savannah wanted to talk about it, she would. The gods knew that she had times where she had things on her mind and wasn’t sure how to talk about them. She would hate if someone was pressuring her to talk.
“I had never thought I would ever wear a corset this tight,” Chloe groaned, trying to adjust it without bringing any attention to herself She was pretty sure it pushed her boobs up more than gravity meant for them to be. She moved her hands to mess with the hat that had been put on her head when they had been given a change of clothes after arriving in this place.
She dropped her hands to her sides and looked around. “I’d say let’s flip for it but knowing this place, it would flip one of us before we could find a coin and that would not go over well.”
Savannah nodded in agreement. “At least our boobs look sensational, although I’m not sure my liver should be bunched up next to my heart,” the witch joked.
“Left. We’ll go left.” The witch marvelled at how bright and neon things looked, but also the tinges of horror hung around the atmosphere and Savannah didn’t know what to do with the info, actually. Flipping a coin in Wonderland? No thanks. After a few minutes of walking, they ran into an Elfin Knight, who gave them directions to where he thought the sword might reside.
As they walked further, Savannah finally spoke. “It’s been a really fucking terrible 48 hours, but I’m glad to be on this adventure with you.” After all, Savannah hadn’t been a terrible friend/daughter/girlfriend to Chloe.
Chloe laughed softly. “I don’t even want to guess what this thing is doing to my internal organs. But yes, our boobs look sensational. I just wish Derek was around to see them.”
She looked around and then nodded. “Left seems a good idea. This place is nothing like I imagined Wonderland to look. It’s definitely nothing like the book I was forced to read in school.”
Once they talked to the knight, Chloe was happy to just be walking along with Savannah, keeping an eye out for anything that might attack as she did so -- a side effect of her life. When she heard what Savannah said, she turned to look at her.
“I’m glad to be on this adventure with you, too.” She tilted her head. “I’m sorry that last 48 hours have been so bad. I won’t pry, but do you want to talk about it?”
Savannah laughed. “Pretty sure if Adam saw me in this he’d be a little less…” and trailed off, uncertain how to describe how things had gone with Adam. “Well, I’m sure he’d approve. Maybe we should try and find Derek.” If the werewolf didn’t appreciate Chloe in her outfit, well, then he was blind, obviously.
Another knight stopped them, only this time followed the women when he heard what they set out to do. “Best you have a companion familiar with the sword.”
“No, but I’ve spoken to Alyssa and she’s nothing like I imagined a creature from Wonderland would look, you know?” She kept an eye out, a knockback spell at the ready if necessary.
“I don’t know if you’d returned or not when the Orgy in early May happened. I made a deal with a vampire, now friend, and…it came to a head the other night.”
The knight tapped Chloe’s shoulder and silently pointed to a red building.
Alyssa has become a dear friend so I’m loving seeing what her home is like.” Chloe nodded. “Yeah, I was here when that happened. I didn’t attend though.” She nodded at the knight and headed towards the red building. “I take it that Adam doesn’t like the deal that you made with your friend and now things are tense between the two of you?”
The knight gently touched Chloe’s arm and manuevered her towards a hidden door.
Savannah smiled. “I like Alyssa. She’s a brilliant artist and seems fun. I don’t know her super well, but we share a few mutual friends. Like you.” The witch stopped for a moment.
They came to the door, and Savannah tested it. “Hope Alyssa doesn’t mind a broken door.” She used a spell, and the door…didn’t explode. “Never mind.”
To Chloe, “The deal ended Sunday night, so things are tense with us and my mom and me. It’s a mess of my own doing.”
Chloe watched as nothing happened when Savannah used a spell. “Well, that’s a first,” she said with a shake of her head. She looked at the knight. “Is there a key we’re supposed to find or some other way in?”
Chloe smiled at her friend. “I got to know her better when we were sent to the Renaissance era. I was her most trusted lady in waiting. Once we got back here we decided to keep the friendship and make it a real one.”
Chloe made a humming sound in her throat. “You’re an adult and your mom should respect that you know what you’re doing, though.”
Savannah looked at the elfin knight and this time she tried a knock back spell. Nothing. Two more spells, before the Elfin Knight sighed. “You could try…turning the knob.”
Her hand found a doorknob, who seemed annoyed and opened the door to get them away. “Well damn.” The witch turned her attention back to Chloe. “I can’t imagine anyone more loyal than yourself, Chloe. I’m glad. You two deserve good friends.”
“It’s…awkward. I don’t think she knows how to be a mother to an adult. I haven’t had a mom since I was twelve. I’m twenty-three now. I know she loves me and we’ll try to communicate better, but it still…sucked.”
Chloe looked at the knight and then back to the doorknob. “Apologies. Usually when we go to places that are unlike our home the doors are usually locked or something is usually wanting to attack us.” She was amused that the knight had sighed at them and that the doorknob looked so annoyed.
Chloe stepped through the door and then waited for Savannah to join her. “I try to be loyal and I think that you deserve loyal friends, as well, Savannah. You’ve been good to me back home and you’ve been a good friend, here, too.”
Chloe nodded. “I kind of get what you mean. My dad and Aunt Lauren try to be parents back home, but it’s hard because after everything I’ve been through because of Genesis, I had to rely on myself and my friends. I think that you two just need to be kind with each other and decide what your boundaries are going to be. Things are different here.”
The knight nodded. As the two women entered the space, Savannah muttered, “This place doesn’t feel…right?” Something nagged at her, but the witch couldn’t say what exactly.
“I’m glad we’re friends. Exactly. I relied on Sean, Paige, and Lucas. Not Mom and Dad.” Savannah might sound disloyal, but they’d died after all.
She stopped. “Okay, this seemed too easy right?”
Chloe gave the knight another smile and then looked at Savannah. “You’re right… it doesn’t seem… this feels very off, Savannah.”
She smiled and nodded. “I’m glad we’re friends, too, Savannah -- here and back home. I couldn’t ask for a better friend.” She looked around. “My dad and Lauren… they weren’t on the run and they weren’t at that place to see what we went through. I relied on Derek, and to a lesser degree on Simon and Tori. I love and respect them, but they are needing to accept that we have our own set of rules and we run our own lives.”
She frowned. “It does seem too easy. That means there is a catch.”
The Knight sighed. “The Red Queen has allowed you both to get the sword without difficulty. My Queen will support her. No harm will befall you if you find it.”
Okay. Okay. Savannah cast her sensing spell. So, not living. “I hope you can convince them of these things. It takes…conversations.” She turned to go left and tripped.
“We tell nobody I tripped on the damn sword.” Savannah groaned as she held it up and passed it to Chloe.
Chloe smiled at the Knight. “Like I said, we’re not used to things not attacking us, but we appreciate your help.”
Chloe took the sword from Savannah and nodded. “I don’t know of what you are speaking.” She liked the look of the sword.
“I will do what I can and you know you can come hang out with me if the parents get to be too hard to deal with. I know that whenever I go back home that I’ll have to convince Lauren and my dad that the things they dealt with when they were my age are nothing like what Derek and I deal with.”
She looked at the sword and then looked at Savannah. “Let’s get back to where we need to be with the sword and help Chessy.”
