Match-Up
Who: Charly Burke and Amara Namani
What: Charly meets Amari (Match-Up)
When: Saturday, September 10
Where: Stoney Lonesome Outfitters
Warnings: None currently
Status: Closed/Ongoing
Charly stepped out of the Uber she'd hired in front of Stoney Lonesome Outfitters. It was farther out from the center of the city than she'd imagined. Clearly, the dome surrounded Madison was larger than she'd thought. Not quite so claustrophobic, then. Good.
The store itself was fairly large. The property, where they provided archery ranges according to the network info she'd looked up, was much larger. She wasn't here for archery, though. If she were going to be stuck in the distant past, she wanted a means of defending herself. The combat blaster rifle she'd had slung over her shoulder when she arrived was out of the question. It was packed away in her apartment along with the combat vacc suit she'd been wearing. Neither was something she could wear or carry here and now.
Charly entered the store. It was busy, with customers wandering the aisles or dealing with clerks at the counters. One whole section of the store was devoted to archery, with bows, arrows, and related equipment lining the walls or behind glass. Another large section was filled with camping gear and other general outdoors-y stuff. And then there were the firearms.
Charly felt weird about this. She was soldier, she'd fought--and killed--in battle. She was by no means a pacifist. But seeing lethal weapons so readily available to anyone made her uncomfortable. But then, the nonlethal options available in this time...sucked, for the most part. Short-ranged, finicky, and prone to failure when most needed. That wasn't true in the 25th century.
She studied the rifles and shotguns on the walls, and the handguns in display cases, while she stood at a counter awaiting her turn to talk to a staff member.
