Nam-Ra had just suffered through her very first day in an American school and it was a lot. Not only were the schools here behind on what she had been learning, making her a bit bored when listening to things she already heard. Even more so when the teacher didn’t seem to go over the information as well as the teachers that she knew. The parts that baffled her was the students moving from class to class and how kids were allowed their cell phones without a care. Also the part of how when that final bell rang, the kids were out and the way they handled their afternoons or school work and study time was so very different based on what she could hear.
The idea of even ignoring any of her reading made her stomach hurt. Grabbing her back, she knew she was going to have to talk to Nick tonight. Not only was she in trouble for her earbuds, but they ignored her and blew her off when it came to needing more challenging classes. Talking down to her and making her feel like she was an idiot to where Nam-Ra had felt that brief rush of anger. Thankfully, she had kept her head on straight and kept herself calm. Maybe Nick could get through to them better and also find a way to explain the earbuds that she needed when the school bell went off. The noise hurt her ears and she was being told how she couldn’t wear them. Even though Nam-Ra had only put them in before the bell rang and that was it. It was the only time she ever been in trouble and she was upset. If her mother was here, she’d have a huge fit at Nam-Ra for messing up. But she didn’t think Nick would react the same way as her mother would. Still, she was avoiding the house to give herself some time to get out of the funk she was in for getting in trouble on the first day. She was glad that she made plans with Teruko for after school. Sitting on the metal bleachers, waiting for Teruko, the thoughts of today flooded into her head. Shutting her eyes as she tried to center herself before losing any control even for a moment. Catching herself before the anger got a bit ahead of itself. Thankfully, Teruko could be heard coming before she was in Nam-Ra’s sight, making it a bit easier on Nam-Ra to calm the hint of rage. “Hey!” She said in English as she opened her tablet, knowing that word and not needing it. “You still free for our plans?” She asked into the tablet, but if she wasn’t, then Nam-Ra would understand.
