Who: May Parker and Jack Harkness What: May comes across a pirate When: August 8 [Backdated] Where: Docks Rating: low
May was thankful to have a loving husband who worked hard to help her keep the orphanage. Somehow they had never been lucky to have children of their own and so May looked at the children in the orphanage as her own in a way. It wasn’t perfect and the orphanage wasn’t a luxurious place to be, but there was food and love and damn anyone who came to help who raised a hand to the children - May heard horror stories of orphanages in the bigger cities and she would not allow hers to turn into that kind.
She was on the dock heading to a fisherman she knew who gave her a good deal on fresh fish for the children when a figure jumped from a ship in front of her. She did a bit of a gasp and stepped back and then was genuinely taken by how handsome he was. His dress though - was he a pirate? May resisted the urge to reach for her coin purse which was hidden in her dress lest she give away its location.

Though many people might not believe him, Jack was not off his ship and in town to pilage and plunder and rape the women. He never did the latter, and he didn’t have time for the prior two shenanigans today. All he needed was rum. Lots and lots of rum for his crew. Dean and Castiel and Vala and the rest drank their weight in rum, and Jack provided them with the alcohol when they were aboard the ship.
In town, when they docked, his crew was on their own when it came to food and beverage. He wouldn’t be much of a captain, though, if he didn’t keep them fed and drunk while at sea.
Jack flashed the nervous looking woman a bright smile as he approached “Hello, my lady,” he offered.:
—
Realizing a hand was on her chest and that was a bit rude, she lowered her hand and offered her a polite nod of her head in acknowledgement of his greeting. “Hello. My apologies. You startled me. I guess I’m just not quite used to the hustle and bustle at the dock. I may live and work in town, but the atmosphere is quite different.” The scoundrels she knew in town. The ones at the dock were more foreign to her so she was a bit more on edge here.
–
“The docks are no place for a lovely woman such as yourself,” he agreed. The workers who frequented the docks were different than the merchants and scoundrels of town. Pirates like Jack were different from them as well. He may have a way with words at times, but was just, deep down, a pirate.
He didn’t particularly like to live by the laws of the land, and he was sure that a woman like May knew this.
Most people did.
“You were right to be startled by a pirate,” he said, softly. He didn’t offer her reassurances that her assumptions or fears were unfounded. Because, as a general rule? They were not.
—
She tried not to show how worried she was, but while she tilted her chin up a little to mask her fear, she did exhale a little quicker than normal. What she really wanted to do was turn and run, but that was both unladylike and would give the man too much of an ego.
"Does a pirate always need to startle women or is it merely a coincidence?" She felt like she was playing with fire, really. Who knew what a pirate might do to her?
–
“A pirate does not always need to startle women, no,” he admitted. “Sometimes, like now, it is merely coincidental. That does not make it any less fun, though,” Jack said, with a slight smirk. While he had absolutely no intention of hurting this woman, it was still fun to play with her a bit.
To see what sort of reaction he could get out of her.
“I’m not going to hurt a pretty thing such as yourself,” he told her. “Though I would not be opposed to having a little fun, if you’re willing.”
–
Her cheeks went crimson and May looked entirely surprised. Usually men were not so bold and brazen. A hand went to her chest. "I beg your pardon?"
It was probably a good thing she wasn't willing considering her husband was a Fae king, not that she was aware of it in the slightest, but neither of them needed that sort of wrath.
"I am happily and devoutly married, sir!" She did love her husband very much, which she knew wasn't always the case, but she was lucky that it was for her.
"..." She lifted her chin a little in a bit of defiance. "Now if you'll excuse me, I must go purchase some fish for the orphanage… unless you would see children starve?"
–
“Oh, I am not that sort of pirate, my lady. I have absolutely nothing against parentless children. Go, go, feed the children. …then, perhaps, you can feed me after.” He grinned a bit at this, knowing all too well that his words could be taken multiple ways.
And that was exactly what he had intended.
“It sounds like your husband has not been tending to your needs properly, my lady. Perhaps you need to have a scoundrel show you a few tricks in the bedroom.”
–
Jack managed to make her turn red again. How could someone talk so brazenly like he did? Truly pirates were made of a different ilk.
“My husband is a fine husband, sir!” But since the man had told her to go, she intended to use it as an ‘out’ of sorts. She tried not to run - or run as much as one could in her shoes and dress. No, she told herself to walk confidently, though perhaps she moved with more haste than she had been walking to begin with. The sooner she could leave the docks, the better!
