Being a butcher in the middle ages was an experience that Gus did not care to repeat. He felt like he needed many, many showers to get past the lack of hygiene. The idea of handling raw meat was repulsive, which meant he was eating out a lot more than he probably should be. After work, he decided to swing by Hinkles and pick up some dinner to take back to the TARDIS. Martha was working late at the clinic so he was on his own.
He placed his order and then stepped aside to wait for it, nearly bumping into another waiting patron. “Sorry, man,” he said. They need a bigger waiting area in this place. Especially when one of the werewolves or superheroes made one of their ridiculously large orders.

The whole different life in the middle ages had been a bit weird for Qrow. For once, he was a Lord and that was something he'd never seen himself being. Being rich and all that just wasn't something he could see happening. Another thing was not only being in a relationship with Nikita but her also being Ruby's mother. He liked her and considered her one of his closest friends, but his love for her was strictly platonic.
The one thing that hadn't been so strange for him was Ruby being his daughter. Technically she wasn't even his niece but more an honorary niece, but he still loved her like she was. Being her father in the middle ages wasn't that bad or weird for him.
Luckily, things were back to normal. One thing he missed was Hinkles so once he had the time, he headed there to grab a burger or two. He waited in line to place an order, texting Ruby and Elsa to see if they also wanted anything. He must not have been paying attention because someone bumped into him. "Hey, no worries," he told the other man. "It happens. They really need more space here." It wasn't the first time it's happened, at least to him.

“Hopefully we’re not in line behind any werewolves,” Gus joked. The moment the words were out, he realized it was possible this man was one, though he didn’t recall seeing him on the network with the others. “Though I suppose we can thank them for keeping this place in business.”
As much money as some of them spent in here, he assumed it meant that the restaurant was able to keep their prices down, which benefited the rest of the town.

No, Qrow wasn't a werewolf. Even if he was, he'd still laugh at the joke. He wasn't the type to take things too seriously. "I hope not. My niece would probably worry why I'm taking so long," he said, joking along. The werewolves definitely ate quite a lot and usually had the biggest orders.
"We definitely should. Hinkles has become one of my favorite places to eat." Almost everything on the menu was good but especially their burgers. "Name's Qrow by the way."

“Gus,” he replied with a grin. “And after spending a week living as a butcher, I can’t make myself handle raw meat just yet, so I’ve been here more often than usual.” Some day Gus would stop letting the weird things the dome did affect him like this. Today was not that day.
He glanced up at the counter and then looked back at Qrow. “What’d you end up doing?” he asked.
*
"Nice to meet you," Qrow responded before making a face. "I don't blame you. If I was a butcher for a week, I'd probably get sick of raw meat as well." He would eventually be able to handle it after awhile, but he'd probably avoid it at first.
"I was a lord, which is not really my thing," he shrugged. He was glad to be his normal self again. "And my niece was my daughter and her mother was a friend of mine, which was a bit strange but." He shrugged again as if saying 'well, that's the dome for you'.

At least the dome hadn’t thrown him and Juliet together again this time. Gus was grateful for that because he honestly wasn’t sure how much more of that any of them could handle. “I had a son,” he said. “His mother abandoned us and I raised him on my own.” Micah was a good kid and he hoped they could keep in touch now that they were back to their normal lives.
“I suppose it wasn’t the worst thing that the dome has put us through,” he added.

"That's kind of what happened to me as well," Qrow said. "My daughter's mother left us when she was young and I ended up raising her on my own." Well, with the help of the servants and such in the court. Sadly though, something similar happened to Ruby in her life back home, only her mother died instead when she was young. Not only was Summer her mother but she'd been a good friend of Qrow's too. Their whole family was devastated when it happened.
"Nah. At least, I don't think so," he said. "Honestly, I think the worst is when it sends people back home. I can handle anything else but not that." Sure, he'd be fine and move on but he still hated it.

Even though Gus hadn’t lost any of his closest friends, he would agree that the sudden disappearances were probably the worst thing that happened, though in his opinion, that kid with Jules was right up there. “I’m just glad I didn’t end up with my best friend’s wife again,” he said. “It’s happened a few times. Including us having a kid show up from some timeline where Shawn died.”
He shuddered even thinking about it. That case was a mess and it was scary to think of how close they’d come to losing him. Knowing that in some universe, they actually did, well… Gus hated having that knowledge.

"I've ended up with my friend too a couple times, including having a kid with her," Qrow said, glancing quickly to see if his order was ready. "It's strange that it happens so many times, huh?" He did like Nikita, she was a close friend, but he didn't love her. Maybe in some other universe he did, but not this one.
He turned again, this time his order was ready. "It was nice meeting you, but I should get going. Hopefully the next weird thing won't happen for awhile." He grabbed his bag of food and headed home.
