Who: Dream and Doctor (“Thirteen”) What: They be stealing a ship, ARRRR When: Evening Where: The Docks Rating: low
Thirteen couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime. Dream was every bit as good as she was and they could keep up with each other without having to worry about the other. They might not have a big crew, but they got the job done and didn’t have to answer to anyone else - it was how she liked it.
They had an eye on one of the English ships that had docked recently. It was a beautiful vessel and was likely to have a lot of wealth on it - The British Merchant ships usually did. They didn’t just want to plunder it. They wanted it for their very own. Finders Keepers, after all.
She crouched behind a barrel and poked her head over the top to look at the ship. Night had fallen and so it’d be harder to see them. “Always the arrogant lot, aren’t they? I spy only a few men on board. The rest must have gone into town for the night.” Leaving the ship up for grabs, in her opinion.

Dream had always worked alone, ever since he was a wee lad. He never knew his parents and he had been separated from his siblings since he was young. It wasn't until he met Thirteen that he learned to trust someone else. Had he been reluctant at first? Oh yes. It had taken him quite some time to trust and work with her. But now, he couldn't imagine her not in his life.
They had spotted an English ship, one that was magnificent and something he could see them have for themselves. The thing was, though, that it belonged to someone else. But that was a tiny problem for the two of them and their crew. It would be quite easy to take over. After all, they had done it plenty of times before.
"Yes, but that arrogance shall be their downfall." He spotted the remaining men on board and counted less than ten left. If it was him, he wouldn't have left the ship alone with such few men. "So what are you thinking?" he asked. Basically, what was the plan?
–
Her eyes ran over the entirely of the deck like she was scanning every detail in just the single run. She had always been good with observations.. She wasn’t sure why, exactly, but it was how it was.
“I say we scale the side of the ship, take out the men, and commandeer the ship. If we’re feeling generous we can offer the men to work with us otherwise we can leave them tied at the docks. Then we visit a forger I know to make us a document to say the vessel’s ours should they be fool enough to contest the new ownership.”
–
While Thirteen layed out the plan, Dream also scanned the ship quickly. "Sounds like a good plan." No surprise that he agreed with her. They almost always agreed on things. It was why they worked so well together. Of course, there were times when they disagreed but those moments were few and far in between.
"I'll go tell the crew about the plan, then we can meet up near the docks in half an hour." While they probably could take out the men themselves since there were only a few onboard, he always thought it was good to have some help. Dream had always been the type to play it a bit more safe. Plus, if they had their crew with them, perhaps stealing the ship would go by quicker.
–
She nodded to him. He was always a bit more of the think-througher which is why they complemented each other. She was ready to take on the ship herself, but he was right in waiting for the crew. Practical, even. “I’ll keep watch. Don’t be too long though, else I might get bored.” She winked at him.
While Dream went to do the sensible thing, Thirteen did some more reconnaissance which meant she was slinking about the docks learning all she could about the comings and goings. By the time Dream arrived back, she was fairly certain she understood the ship and explained the layout to him.
“We do this right and we’ll have to break the ship in afterwards.” She meant both by sailing the ship, but also by having a bit of bedroom fun since adventures like this always left Thirteen more amorous, not that it hurt who her partner was.
–
Dream had always been the one who mostly thought before he acted between the two. There had been a few times when he had to stop her from doing things too quickly, without any planning beforehand. He got her to be a little less impatient while she got him to take more risks.
"It'll only take a few moments. We wouldn't want you getting bored." A bored Thirteen was never good.
True to his word, he came back with the rest of their crew, having explained to them the plan. Once everyone understood, all was set to go. "Looks like we have plans for later then." Because it's them, of course things were going to go right and they'd steal the ship in no time and have time to spare for some fun in the bedroom. He couldn't help but pull her into a deep, thorough kiss, ignoring the hooting and hollering from their crewmates.
He pulled away, a bit reluctantly, and turned to the crew who quieted down. "Everyone ready?"
–
Thirteen pulled away from the kiss with a smile on her face both from the agreement of this evening’s activities, but also from the hooting and hollering. She found it entirely amusing and she was, quite frankly, proud to have Dream’s attention. There was some pride there and also pleasure in the fact she knew others were often jealous.
Once they signalled they were ready, Thirteen and the others sought out to climb from their various points. Thirteen always loved the climbing part. She liked climbing the sides of boats and the masts of boats. It was thrilling, all of it. She was not the sort of person who stood there and simply ordered people about.
Her love of climbing had her turning and whispering to Dream. “Get the one here for me, will you? I’ll get the one up top.” In the crow’s nest, she meant. She had watched the man drink some rum and she suspected fall asleep so it wouldn’t be much of a fight, but at least she’d have fun waking him up from his stupor.
Trusting Dream, she began to climb up the rigging.
–
It was rare that someone caught Dream's attention. But then Thirteen came along and, well, she captured not only his attention but his heart as well.
He wasn't a fan of simply ordering people around. He did prefer to be a bit more hands on, though not as much as Thirteen. He just liked to be in control and sometimes he didn't always trust people to do the job. It took him a while to trust his crewmates to not mess up and ruin things.
So he was fine going with Thirteen while the others did their job. When Thirteen spoke, he turned and nodded. "Of course." He went to deal with his target while she went to deal with their own. Since most had been drinking, taking care of them was easy and soon enough, they had taken over the ship.
–
Did she have to cut the line and go flying up the rest of the way to the crows nest with the rigging? No. Did she because it was fun and looked cool? Yes, yes she did.
She also dramatically descended from the crows nest in a similar matter and gave Dream a playful wink as they all celebrated their victory. A few of the sailors wanted to switch sides, but that essentially solidified that they would never be part of the crew - Thirteen and Dream valued loyalty over other traits.
Once the ship was moving away from the docks, she turned and planted an obnoxiously long kiss on Dream which got some more hoots and hollars. “Would you like to break in the captain’s quarters with me?”
–
Dream couldn't help but roll his eyes when she cut the line to fly up. He knew she only did it to look cool and to have fun. Yet he wouldn't have her any other way.
He returned the kiss with just as much enthusiasm. "I'd be happy to," he replied before leading the way.
