Who: Rose Hathaway and Open When: Thursday evening Where: Stables What: Tending to her horse...possibly letting her hair down. Rating: TBD Status: Open; Incomplete
Rose lifted off her helmet, setting it down on the stable floor, and stepped into the stall with her trusted steed. Outside of sleeping, this was the one time "Roman" could remove the proverbial helmet (as well as physical) and relax. Nuzzling the horse's neck, Rose allowed herself to breathe in his comforting scent, before she bent to retrieve the brush. She started by brushing Storm's neck before moving on to his side and along his back. All the while, Rose hummed whatever minstrel tune she'd last heard and occasional whispered words of encouragement to the animal beside her.
Born a woman, Rose was never meant to hold the title of 'knight.' However, from a young age, she'd always loved horses and yes, watching the noble knights spar always stirred something within her. A sense of fighting spirit bloomed in her heart and, despite her mother's best efforts, nothing could put out that flame. Rose was stubborn, determined, and even though it cost her everything, the brunette did not regret the choices she made along the way. Even hiding her gender was a small price to pay to fulfill her dream.
"I know, Storm. I know," Rose cooed to the horse. Abandoning the brush, she took up the comb instead and started to untangle the horse's mane. Outside of Storm, no one saw this vulnerable side of Rose. Being a knight, one always had to be strong and appear impenetrable...aside from when one was attempting to gain the favor of a lady. Rose had one such admirer, but she tried her hardest not to feed that relationship. Outside of the Lady Sydney, there was one other person that had noticed Rose too. Xavier. But he was married to Lady Madison and Rose knew better than to engage in such scandalous behavior. Still, Xavier was handsome and charming. And impossible to ignore.
Shaking her head, Rose forced herself to focus on grooming Storm and not on Lord Xavier.
