While waking up next to Allison was hardly a shock to Kol’s system by this point, finding himself on an Alaskan cruise definitely was. Though, after finding out the entire town was in fact on the same cruise, including his siblings, Kol relaxed somewhat. Besides, he was rooming with the woman he loved and they had plenty of things to do here. To keep them busy. Of course, rooming with Allison made it difficult for him to rendezvous with Savannah for his needed meals, but so far, he’d managed it without too much difficulty. He wasn’t ready to tell Allison he was feeding off of the witch even if he knew deep down he should.
Kol had just finished a rare solo shower and, after dressing, he exited the bathroom fully prepared to enjoy another day with Allison. He spotted her looking out the balcony window and, using his vampire speed to cheat, he covered the distance to her quickly. Hands on her hips, he pulled her back towards him and playfully placed a kiss on her neck before murmuring in her ear.
“Penny for your thoughts, darling.”
Allison had opted to stay in bed a little longer when Kol got up to shower, mainly because she just really liked sleeping in the cooler spot his body left while smelling him on the pillow. She’d gotten up before he finished, however, and was now just studying the view. When she heard the shower stop and Kol come out a few minutes later, she didn’t turn, instead just leaning back against him and smiling as she rested her hands on his arms. She always loved when he did this, because it made her feel safe and protected.
As his lips brushed her skin, she nuzzled her cheek against his hair. “I was just thinking about how long we’ve been here, on the ship.” Taking in a deep breath, Allison let it out slowly, then turned to face him. “You’re going to need to feed soon, aren’t you?” And there was no guarantee they could get blood bags on the ship or from one of the few stops the ship made.
Kol savored the feeling of her hands on his arms and the way she leaned back against him, clearly comfortable in his embrace. For some, it would seem impossible for anyone to feel safe with him given his past, but Kol was different when it came to Allison. Technically, she’d broken every single one of his rules, including the one where immortals didn’t date humans. She was the exception, an unplanned exception, but one that ended up being welcomed all the same.
Kol breathed her in, enjoying the feeling of her nose nuzzling his hair gently. The sound of her pulse beat away in his brain like a drum, tempting and yet calming at the same time. It was an expected train of thought and Kol wasn’t surprised until she exhaled and turned to face him, asking about him needing to feed. It was true that there was no sight of blood bags on the ship so far and outside of rendezvousing with Savannah when he could, Kol had no food source available to him. Being he couldn’t be around her constantly, Kol had to stretch his meals leaving him vulnerable to the blood lust far more frequently than in Madison Valley.
Kol kept his hands settled on her hips, gaze shifting from her face to the floor briefly before he responded. “I will, love. I was considering reaching out and seeing if anyone would be a willing donor for the remainder of the trip.” Making Allison his blood source was impossible given she was on vervain and even if she wasn’t, Kol didn’t want to ask that of her. It felt wrong given everything she’d been through in her life and yes, everything he’d put her through so far in their relationship.
Lifting her arms to drape them over his shoulders, Allison absently brushed the back of his neck with her fingers as she studied his face while he replied. After he finished, she hesitated for a moment, then went ahead with what she’d been thinking of for a couple weeks not. “What if I was your donor?” She could already see that Kol wasn’t a big fan of that, and hurried on to explain. “It’s just - it’s something so important. I think I’d prefer it if you drank from me instead of someone else.” Allison had never been on the other end of a vampire bite, but it seemed like something intimate, and would rather he come to her for it than others.
“I haven’t taken any vervain in days, so it’s out of my system. And I trust you. I know you’d never hurt me,” she added firmly as she studied his eyes.
It was difficult to not get lost in the sensation of her fingers against his skin or the weight of her arms around his shoulders. Kol could practically see the wheels in her head turning in that moment and he already knew where this conversation was going. Sure enough, she inquired about being his donor. The vampire was about to fight back, but before he could respond, Allison continued on.
Drinking blood could be viewed as an intimate interaction in some ways, but in others it was simply about feeding and death. He could understand her reasoning. It was important. However, Allison had never been bitten by a vampire as far as he knew. He wasn’t sure how she would react to the feeling of his fangs in her neck, draining away her lifeforce.
Kol met her gaze. From her tone, she was serious about doing this and Allison was stubborn. Talking her out of it would not be easy, if not just about impossible. “I would never hurt you, Allison. At least not in any way you wouldn’t enjoy.” He added the last part as an attempt at humor, a cheeky smile gracing his lips briefly before he sobered again.
He leaned down, his nose brushing hers gently. “The monster in me would love to drink from you, Allison. So would the man. But you need to be absolutely sure. You’ve been through so much. I don’t want to put you through more just to satiate my blood lust.”
Allison had no hesitation in meeting his eyes as he worked his way through her words, and she did give him a faint smile at the attempt at humor, appreciating it. As he brushed her nose with his own, she tipped her head a bit so that her lips could brush against his just as he finished speaking, then pulled away again.
“I’m sure, Kol. I love you, and as much as you want to protect and take care of me, I want to do the same for you. I needed time to think about this, and I’ve had that - we’ve been together for more than a month now, and every day I only trust you more and more.” Her hand left his neck to cup his cheek instead, thumb brushing his skin there instead.
“I know you can make it so that it doesn’t hurt, and so I heal right away, so I’m not worried about that. And I think this is how I need to show you that I’m not afraid of what you are. I accept every part of you, including this.”
Kol’s hand came up to rest on the one gently cupping his cheek. She loved and trusted him. There were never more meaningful words spoken to Kol Mikaelson. He savored every single syllable. In all his immortal life, he never believed he would have someone like Allison. Someone who saw the darkest parts of him and still loved him anyway. It was what made the thought of biting her so conflicting for Kol. He didn’t want to taint that and yet, every fiber of his being thirsted for her blood even now.
He leaned in and pressed a kiss hard to her lips briefly. “I love you too, Allison. The fact that you trust me means everything to me, darling.” Feeding from her would, in a sense, be a way of showing she accepted all of him. There was no other frontier to truly conquer after this and she was right. Kol could take the pain away easily given his mind was stronger than her own. He could give her his blood to heal her afterwards. And he had control. That was the biggest determining factor of all. Kol relented partially from her honesty and partially because he was indeed starving.
“Even though I know you accept me, that you are not afraid, perhaps this will only…bring us closer.” Kol lifted one of his hands from her hips in favor of brushing a piece of hair from her neck. “How would you like me to do this? I can drink from your wrist or your neck. We can also sit if you prefer. I want you to be comfortable, love.”
Allison returned the kiss, then smiled when he pulled back to respond. She meant every word, but a part of her still expected him to continue to try and argue. When he didn’t, she relaxed and studied his face, instinctively tilting her head just a little when he brushed the hair away from her skin.
“I think that it will,” she replied. At the question about how, Allison did pause a little, thinking about it, then shook her head. “I’m…not sure.” She hadn’t exactly thought this part through. “I’m most comfortable in your arms, but sitting might be better?” At least for this first time, in case she became weak or tired after. “And as for where, it doesn’t really matter to me.” Particularly if she didn’t have to cover it after.
At the sight of her bare neck, Kol felt the hunger rise to the surface. He swallowed and focused on what she was saying. Yes, sitting would be better given she might become very tired after and as for where? Kol already knew his preference. If he was going to feed from the woman he loved, he wanted it to be in the most intimate way possible. Besides, her neck was so tantalizing. Perfectly white flesh. Her pulse just beat away beneath the surface, beckoning him.
“How about something possibly far better?” Kol swept her up in his arms easily and carried her the short distance to the bed. He settled on the edge, but kept her seated in his lap. His arm wrapped securely around her waist while the other hand gently brushed aside loose strands of hair from her neck. “This way I can hold you too. Keep you from running away in case you change your mind halfway through.” He was teasing her with the last half of the statement. He knew he could make it feel so good that she would never want him to stop.
His eyes flickered to her neck and then back to her face. “If it doesn’t matter where to you, I’ll choose your neck, love. It’s more intimate and if I’m going to feed off the woman I love, I want it as intimate as possible.” His hand shifted to cup her face and he lowered his mouth to her neck, pressing a kiss to the skin gently before his lips shifted to her mouth.
“Whenever you’re ready, love.”
Her arms automatically tightened when he picked her up, but Allison knew he'd never drop her. Once she was settled on his lap, she pulled her hair to one side and smiled at the teasing. "The only place I'd run would be towards you," she promised.
At his words, she nodded. “Then the neck it is,” she replied. Intimate was definitely better in her opinion, as well, and she smiled as he began to press his lips to her. “I think the anticipation makes me more nervous,” she admitted in between their kisses. She wasn’t afraid of him, but she was just a little nervous and tensed up a fair amount in anticipation of what was to come.
Kol barely managed to bite back his response. He wanted to tell her not to make such a promise. There might be a day when she wanted as much distance between them as possible. The day she realized she’d tied herself to a true monster. Even after this, the true experience of being bitten, she might decide distance was the best option. It was one reason he’d refrained from ever considering Allison as a potential blood source. He was secretly terrified to lose what they had. That fear still existed, but he was doing his best to push it aside because Allison had offered and that might make all the difference.
He could feel the tension in her body and hear the nervousness in her voice. Kol’s chocolate brown eyes shifted to meet her own. “Don’t be nervous. I promise it won’t hurt, love.” Her hair shifted out of the way, Kol turned his gaze to her neck and the precious pulse beating just beneath the skin. He lowered his head, fangs dropping into place behind his lips, and veins snaked along his cheek bones. Dark brown eyes shifted to black with flecks of red in the depths.
His fangs punctured the skin, blood rushing over his tongue, and he immediately used his mind to ease the pain. Kol projected the pleasure he received from feeding off of her into her own mind while hoping to intermingle his feelings with any pleasurable, relaxing experience that rested in the forefront of her mind.
Allison met his eyes, then nodded and took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. The nerves faded a little, mainly because having him so close in general was so normal that she wasn’t afraid.
There was a sting at first - the moment his fangs pierced her skin - and just as she was about to gasp, it was pleasure instead that she felt, rather than the anticipated pain. Now she did gasp, but it was soft, stuttering a little at the feelings rushing through her and ending on a quiet moan. One hand shifted to slide into his hair, fingers combing through it as her other arm tightened around him. Allison didn’t know how much blood he needed to drink at once or how much she could lose at once, but she trusted that he’d stop before going too far.
RIght now, though, she simply enjoyed it.
Being that Kol rarely used his mind to plant pleasure in the heads of his victims, he was unaccustomed to anything outside of screams filling his ears. Hearing Allison’s stuttered gasp followed by a quiet moan, Kol instantly felt himself stiffen in his jeans. He loved knowing he could elicit such sounds from Allison. Hearing them while he was feeding from her? It was perhaps more of a turn on than anything else.
He savored the feeling of her fingers through his short brown hair and the way she clung to him tighter with each drop of blood on his tongue. There was a part of him that wanted to lose himself in the moment, drink from her until there was nothing left, and let her drown in pleasure as he did so. The other half, the stronger one, knew he had to stop soon or risk possibly killing her. As it was, her heart beat was slowing in his head. As good as this felt, Allison alive and well in his arms, felt so much better.
Slowly he withdrew his fangs from her neck, his face shifting back to that of a normal, human male. Gently, he pressed a kiss to the wound before his lips shifted to her ear. “Allison, are you okay? How are you feeling, darling?” He murmured.
When he shifted back a little, Allison let her head fall forward and rest against his shoulder briefly. The pleasure was fading - which was probably a good thing, otherwise she might not have wanted him to stop - and it was a few seconds before she could lift her head again and nod.
Her eyes opened, and she gave him a sleepy smile. “Tired,” she admitted. “And a little weak.” But that was to be expected, after blood loss. “What about you, are you okay?”
At her sleepy smile, Kol’s expression softened and he pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. “That is expected, love. Unfortunately.” His blood would at least heal the wound on her neck faster if she so desired. Otherwise, Kol was going to order plenty of juice and any food Allison wanted from room service to help her gain her strength back.
“I’m okay, darling. Much better because of you.” He stroked her hair gently. “I love you, Allison. If you want, I can offer you blood to heal your wound faster. Otherwise, I’m going to order us some room service. Anything you want. You need to eat and drink to get your strength back.
Allison hesitated to think it through. Back when they’d just barely started seeing one another, she hadn’t been willing to drink his blood - and she definitely wouldn’t have offered up her own so easily. But now, things had changed between them. Plus, there was the fact that if she did start walking around with a bandage or scarf around her neck to cover up bites, she’d be hearing about it from a lot of people.
Finally, she met his gaze and nodded. “Healing faster would be good. And definitely room service.” It didn’t take long for her to decide what she wanted, either. “Pancakes. And eggs and bacon, too. Maybe some fruit?” Smiling, she lifted a hand and brushed his cheek softly.
At his offer, Kol noticed her hesitation. He couldn’t necessarily blame her either. He’d told her the consequences of drinking his blood though he doubted they would come to pass, especially here. Unlike his normal self, Kol actually remained silent, allowing her to weigh out the pros and cons of drinking his blood. Like him drinking her blood, it was a significant step in this relationship. He certainly wasn’t going to attempt to force anything on her. When she was ready, if ever, it would happen.
After a moment, she surprised him and accepted the offer as well as put in her order for room service. Kol chuckled at her request for a first class kind of breakfast. “Of course, love. Whatever you desire.” He leaned into her touch briefly before his attention turned to his wrist. Kol lifted his wrist to his mouth and bit down, splitting the skin, and allowing blood to bubble to the surface. He held out his wrist to Allison.
“You don’t need a lot, love. Just a little should patch you right up.”
Allison nodded a bit and lifted her head from his shoulder. After steeling herself, she grasped his arm carefully and then lowered her lips to where his blood welled up. The taste was strange - like liquid pennies - and not all that pleasant, but she closed her eyes and drank a little anyway. After less than a minute, she lifted her head again and looked up at Kol, then tipped her head a bit.
“Is it healing?”
No, Kol did not expect the experience to be pleasant for Allison. The only silver lining for her was the benefits of his blood outweighed the horrible taste for the most part. Though, Kol wouldn’t lie. He was mildly turned on watching her mouth latch onto the wound on his wrist and briefly suck. It didn’t last long, which was perfectly fine. Allison’s wound didn’t require a massive amount of blood to heal at all.
As she tilted her head to the side for him to inspect, Kol’s dark brown eyes studied the wound a moment before he nodded. “It’s healing. It’ll be gone before we have to go anywhere, love. No worries.” Kol pressed a kiss to her forehead.
He shifted her slightly on his lap in order to pull out his smartphone. “Shall we order that practically continental breakfast you wanted, darling?”
It was strange to feel her skin knit itself back together, so instead she focused on Kol’s face, then smiled at his words. “Okay, good,” she replied. When he shifted her, she gave a firm nod and lay her head on his shoulder once again.
“Go ahead. I’m going to nap while we wait for it, if you don’t mind.”
“Of course. I’ll order it and you can get some rest.” Kol lifted her in his arms and carefully set her down on the bed. He tugged up the blankets to gently tuck her in before placing another kiss on her forehead.
“Get a little rest, love. The food will be here when you wake up.”
