Being aboard a rather frosty Alaskan cruise was amazing. While Elsa knew some of the others might not enjoy it as much as herself, the blond couldn’t help, but be excited to take in everything this sudden adventure offered them. She was rooming with Qrow which obviously made everything so much better and the two had spent practically every moment together since they arrived. Well, outside of Elsa being around Anna as much as possible too.
Today, the ship was venturing through a natural park…with glaciers! The former Arendelle queen was very excited. She looked forward to possibly spotting some familiar wildlife and simply taking in the frozen, majestic beauty that she knew glaciers could provide. Sure, it was a bit frosty and chilly, but in her jeans and a simple sweater, Elsa barely noticed the cold at all. Her blue eyes were focused on nature's icy white giants. Wow. It felt like home.
Elsa turned to Qrow beside her, a bright smile on her face. “Isn’t this wonderful? Everything is so magical. It feels like home for me.”
Waking up on a cruise suddenly wasn't quite what Qrow had expected. But he had long been used to these sort of things by now that he simply shrugged and accepted this little vacation. He was glad he ended up sharing a room with Elsa, especially since he'd heard some people ended up with random roommates. Ruby was one of them and unfortunately her roomie was none other than Neo. Qrow didn't like the idea of them being alone, so while Elsa visited Anna, he stayed close to Ruby. Ron and Weiss also did as well.
He still worried about his niece but as long as someone was close by, he could relax a little. Having Elsa around helped a lot and he could enjoy this little vacation. For the most part at least. "It really is," he agreed. "It's great we get to visit new places. Though I do wish we could actually visit Arendelle." He'd always wanted to visit ever since Elsa told him about it.
Elsa knew Qrow was worried about Ruby. Sharing a room with someone that had tried to kill you was not the best precursor for a good vacation. At least Ruby had plenty of people around her to keep her company and keep her safe from Neo. Madison Valley had a very sick sense of humor sometimes. Though Elsa was hoping she could at least help Qrow enjoy some parts of the vacation despite his fears for his niece.
His words touched Elsa and the blond nodded, a brief frown forming on her lips. “Me too. I would love to show you my world, Qrow. I think you’d like it there.” Besides, Elsa did miss Arendelle everyday. She knew Anna did too. No matter how happy the two sisters were here, home would always be a part of them and not being able to return there was hurtful.
“Plus, then you could finally meet Olaf too.”
Qrow was definitely grateful to have Weiss around, something he never thought would happen considering she was a Schnee. He also was glad for Ron too, even though he'd never admit it out loud. There was also Ren and Nora as well. Not to mention Ruby herself was formidable and could handle things herself. But that didn't stop him from worrying. Being around Elsa helped calm those thoughts, which he was grateful for too.
But there was something else on his mind, something that didn't have anything to do with his niece, but more of an important question he wanted to ask her.
Right now, though, he simply focused on Elsa. "Think we'll ever get a portal to Arendelle?" he asked. Hey, it was possible. "Because I definitely want to meet Olaf." Elsa had told him about Olaf and who wouldn't want to meet a talking snowman?
Though not as hopeful as Anna, Elsa tried to be positive, especially when it came to the possibility of seeing any of their friends again from home. After all, there was a time when she didn’t believe she would ever see Anna again and now Anna, Kristoff, and Sven were here with her. It was just proof that anything could really happen in this place.
“I know he would love to meet you too. He’ll probably want a hug though. Just a little bit of a warning,” Elsa replied with a small smile. “And I truly hope we do get a portal there someday. Though obviously it’s hard to know for sure with Madison Valley what could happen.”
Qrow had been the same - he didn't think he'd ever see Ruby or Yang again when he first arrived. But Ruby was here and she'd been here for quite awhile now and was living her own life. And while Yang had only been in town for a very short time, it was still nice to see his other niece. Hopefully one day she'll return and stick around this time.
"I don't mind a hug. I'll have to make sure I wear something warm, though. I imagine hugging someone made of snow is a bit chilly," he grinned. Luckily he was used to it with Elsa. "Guess we'll just have to hope there is one someday." Too bad it wasn't listed on the transportation services, otherwise they could've just gone whenever they wanted.
He fell silent for a moment, looking out at the glaciers before turning back to Elsa. "Hey, Elsa..." he began. "I've been wanting to ask you something. Hold on." He shapeshifted into his crow form, flying back into their room for a moment before flying back where he dropped a ring in Elsa's hand.
He turned back into his human form, only he was kneeling on one knee. "Elsa, will you marry me?" he asked. He looked quite calm but he was an absolutely nervous wreck on the inside. Sure, they had spoken about it and she had said she wasn't opposed to the idea of them getting married. But what if she still wasn't ready yet? What if she said no? A lot of what ifs. But he also hoped she didn't freeze him as well.
At his mention of wearing something warm when he met Olaf, Elsa giggled. It was true; snowman hugs could be a bit on the frosty side even if Olaf always meant them to be warm. “We’ll just have to get you a few extra sweaters for the occasion,” she teased in return before turning her attention back to the glacier they were currently gliding by. It was so beautiful and Elsa felt a pang of sadness. She really wished they would get a portal to Arendelle soon. She did miss home very much.
Qrow’s voice drew her back from her nostalgic reverie and she looked over. He seemed a little nervous. But, why? Still, Elsa didn’t mention it. She merely nodded as he shifted into a Qrow and flew the short trek back to their room. Maybe he was just thinking about Ruby again. Hearing the flutter of wings near her ear, Elsa turned in time to see Qrow return, and in the next moment, a ring was in the palm of her hand.
Oh boy. Elsa felt the air rush from her lungs and she barely managed to take a deep breath before Qrow was kneeling in front of her. It felt like everything was happening in slow motion. His words rang in her ears, blocking out everything else, and Elsa felt the temperature start to drop around them. Her powers were reacting to her surprise and shock. In the next instance, a few flakes started falling from the skies.
No, Elsa get control. The blond took another deep breath and felt her powers retreat. Marriage. Elsa had never pictured herself married until she met Qrow and spent time with him. Until she fell in love with him. Tears formed in her blue eyes and she suddenly broke into a smile. Slowly, she slipped the ring on her finger and put her hand in his, giving his fingers a gentle squeeze.
“Yes, Qrow. I will marry you.”
"Maybe I should wear a sweater that says "FREE HUGS" on it," Qrow joked.
He was absolutely nervous and turning into a crow helped ease his nerves just a little. It always had but it only helped for a short while. Once he was back in his human form, he got anxious again but he managed to keep calm. Which was a good thing since he felt the temperature drop and he began to shiver a little, noticing the snowflakes began to descend upon them.
He had expected it and was about to help calm her down, tell her to take a few deep breaths like he always did whenever this happened. But then she managed to control her powers on her own and he was so proud of her and how far she'd come being able to do that.
He stood up as she put the ring on, pulling her into a kiss. "I'm so lucky to have you," he said. Was that a bit cheesy considering his Semblance? Probably. Did he care? Not really. "And I'm glad I'm not too old and can still bend down and get up without any problems," he added jokingly.
Once upon a time, Elsa would have needed Qrow to reassure her that everything would be okay. She would have possibly frozen the entire ship without his hand in hers to offer reassurance. However, her trip home had taught her more control and while she sometimes needed him, she had gained quite a bit of control on her own. In this instance, it was both a relief and pride that washed over Elsa at that thought, but more so, just pure happiness. She was engaged to the man she loved. It was perfect. And no, she didn’t care how old he thought he was.
The line might have been cheesy, but Elsa didn’t care. As soon as he was standing, Elsa launched herself into his arms and hugged him close. Her lips found his in a passionate kiss and she didn’t break it until she knew they both needed to breathe. “I’m lucky to have you. And no, you’re not too old. Not ever.”
Other than worrying that she'd say no and reject him, Qrow had been worried how she'd react and she'd accidentally freeze him and anyone who happened to be nearby. Not that that would've stopped him, of course. He'd still adore her even if she turned him into an ice statue. Luckily for them, she managed to control everything and the worst that happened was the little drop in temperature and snow that had fallen just moments before.
He returned the kiss enthusiastically, not wanting to let go. And he didn't even after they stopped, holding her in his arms still. "Guess we're both lucky," he smiled. "Pfft, tell Ruby that." His niece and Weiss teased him about being old and gray. All in good fun, of course.
"Shall we celebrate? Maybe go out to dinner? Or we can just stay in."
Elsa laughed and shook her head. She was more than okay with Qrow not letting her go. “I’d be more than happy to defend your honor,” she teased gently. Though, she had a feeling Ruby would probably be doing a lot less teasing given who she was currently rooming with. Neo tended to sober everyone up that was friends with Ruby. At the mention of celebrating, Elsa beamed and nodded. “How about dinner and then we can go back to our room to celebrate. Just the two of us?” While she certainly enjoyed having Qrow all to herself, she did want to show her sister the ring and tell her the good news too. Afterwards, they could have a few more moments together, just the two of them.
“I am really excited to tell Anna.” She was sure her sister would be so happy for her too.
"Excellent," he laughed a bit. Speaking of Ruby, he hoped she was doing okay at the moment.
"That sounds like a great plan." To be honest, he would’ve been fine with either or both. As long as he got to spend time with Elsa, he was perfectly content. It didn't matter when or where.
"I bet she'll be happy." So would Ruby and the others from Remnant. "We'll definitely have to tell everyone soon." But for now, he just wanted to spend time with his now fiance.
