Who: Hope Adams, Nita, and Open What: Fourth of July early fireworks makes baby cry When: Noon Where: A park Rating: low
The goal was to be back home in the Pack House before the sun fell so that they could avoid the fireworks. Hope had no desire to put up with a scared baby reacting to loud sounds the baby couldn’t possibly comprehend. That being said, she had needed to get out for some exercise and fresh air which was why she was pushing Nita in a stroller through a park. She thought she was safe avoiding the main festivities on the other side of town, but it turns out you can’t stop patriotism.
She was on her second lap of the park when someone let off a firecracker. The sun was still out. She suddenly looked into the stroller and was relieved to see Nita was still asleep, only for another firecracker to go off and Nita started to cry.
Hope swore under her breath and picked up her daughter, bouncing her a little as she brought the young baby close to her chest. “Shh, shh…” She sounded comforting even if she was looking around with a promise of death if she discovered who the idiot was for these fireworks IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY.
