Lorna had set the coffee down on the table for a moment with plans on picking up her daughter, but Dawn squirmed not wanting to be picked up. “Okay, monster. You can be little miss independent,” she moved back to standing and picked up her coffee. “Yeah, she’s excited to go play in the park and then see if anything exciting and kid appropriate is going on around the town,” she looked at Dawn as she was trying to join the kid at the table. “Seems like you ended up with a tiny fan,” Lorna was amused, but also felt bad for the kid who was probably trying to enjoy his coffee. She knew at his age and hell, even before Dawn came around she’d be slightly annoyed though for a kid she wouldn’t say anything cruel.
Moving her daughter a bit away from the seat, she turned her attention back on the boy. “I’m Lorna and this little monster is Dawn,” she introduced the two to him. Even between battling with her daughter, she could tell there was something about the kid. The attitude and body language that he portrayed was not like most kids or at least none that came through the Mutant Underground.
