Nancy liked the Doctor and had enjoyed the time spent together when they had explored the Titanic to see if they could find any mysteries to solve. The woman was smart, and it was another reason, among a few others, why Nancy had decided to include the woman in the issue that she was trying to figure out. She was keeping the circle small of people who knew about the hex, especially since she did not need the risk of it being overheard or somehow getting back to Ace.
Unable to turn to Ace, whom she trusted with her life to bounce ideas or theories off of, she decided she had to trust people who she knew wouldn’t put Ace at risk. It was why she was meeting the Doctor at Hinkles. Not only could Nancy get some food in her system, but she could bring the Doctor in on what Nancy was trying to solve. Maybe having a little help with the research might cut down on the time to find a possible solution. Just like she had reached out to someone who she felt she could trust and who knew more about magic than her. Even if Bess was here, Nancy wouldn’t turn to her, knowing how close she and Ace were. It wouldn’t be fair to put Bess in that type of situation where she had to hide something from Ace.
Nancy had been lost in some reading when the alarm she had set to remind her of the meeting resulted in her jumping in her seat when it went off. Turning it off, she grabbed her bag and tossed in the notebook she had been writing down ideas and notes in it. She figured if she had time, then she could look it over while waiting for the Doctor. She quickly headed over to Hinkles and glanced around once inside to see that she had arrived first. After placing her order, she went to sit near the back, where it cut down on the chances of people overhearing what they were saying. After setting her bag down, Nancy decided to do a little people-watching while waiting rather than glancing at her notebook. When she saw the Doctor come in, she waved her hand to let the woman know she was here.
