Who: Nora Valkyrie and Sylvie Laufeydottir.
What: Nora meets a Loki variant.
Where: Town.
When: Mid-day, Saturday June 11.
Warnings: TBD.
Status: Closed.

Nora had the afternoon off, and she was planning on spending the afternoon working with Magnhild and her Semblance. So she had her weapon in hand as she started to make her way toward the forest. Woods. Whatever. She needed a person-free area to practice.

As she walked, she spotted a blonde woman who looked a little lost. Or confused. Or something. So, being the friendly, helpful person she was, Nora made her way toward the woman.

"Hi!" she said, offering her a bright smile. Hoping her weapon wouldn't scare off the woman. "I'm Nora Valkyrie. Are you new here?"

One minute Sylvie was collapsed in the dark of the Citadel, tears streaming down her face. If anyone had been there she'd have told them they were of anger. But in truth they were of heartbreak, frustration, pain she was not used to feeling and anger.

Killing He Who Remains had not soothed the ache in her heart. It left her feeling hollow. Shattered but in different way. She could still feel the softness of Loki's lips on hers, see the tear sliding down his cheek, and feel the pain she'd felt sending him through the door.

She felt broken.

She watched the branches of time split, as each Nexus event went unchecked. She gathered both her sword and Loki's, then looked up and found herself in the forest. She was on her feet in a second, his sword sheathed, hers held out as she tried to use the TemDisc. Nothing. It was broken beyond repair.

Then a woman approached, and was met with a sword pointed at her. She had a weapon so enchanting her seemed a road she'd need to take later, "Where am I? when am I?"

Nora wasn't phased by the fact that the woman was pointing a sword at her. It was a completely reasonable response to arriving in Madison Valley unexpectedly. It did mean that her grip on Magnhild tightened ever so slightly, though, and a bit of electricity surged through the air. Just a tiny bit. She was prepared, just in case.

"Madison Valley, Indiana. Earth. June of 2022."

At least she was answering the woman's questions, instead of feeling entirely threatened by the sword pointed at her. ...at least she knew how to protect herself if she needed to.

Sylvie thought for a moment. Midgard then, she could handle that. She'd been to Midgard plenty of times in her years. This was nothing she couldn't manage. She slowly lowered her sword.

"Okay. Second question, how did I end up here?" She wasn't able to tell a stranger about the TemDisc or Tempads. Not that hers worked anyway. But she was pretty sure she hadn't touched it and sent herself here.

"And, next, is there a way back?" Be proud of her, Loki, she was trying diplomacy instead of direct violence to get what she wanted.

"Okay, this is a lot to explain," she started. "You were pulled here because the Dome deemed it necessary that you be here. It pulled a lot of us here, except the original residents of the town. They were here before us." As she spoke, her grip on her hammer-grenade launcher loosened just slightly. Perhaps this woman wasn't going to hurt her. Maybe. If she gave the right answers.

Nora shook her head at Sylvie's next question. "There is no way back, unless the Dome sends us back on its own. A lot of people have tried to get home on their own. Superheroes, aliens, Asgardians, scientiest. A lot of people."

She sighed softly, "Though I don't expect you to take my word for it. It's rare when someone does."

She listened to everything she said, her head tilting as she mulled it over, but then she heard a word and lifted her head. "Asgardians?" she asked, brow furrowing, "What of them? Are there any here now?" she asked carefully.

For a brief moment, hope flared in her chest. It was not reflected on her face or in her eyes, but it settled in her chest and held fast. Maybe she knew someone. That list was, albeit, incredibly short. But she knew the names of many more.

She prayed to no god, she was a god after all, but she wished she did for all of a second. "speak fast." hung up on that one word, hoping with every fiber of her being.

"Thor Odinson and a valkyrie were here at one point," she said. Then, a bit carefully, "Loki Laufeyson is here." She wasn't sure how Loki's presence in Madison Valley would be accepted by this women. People had vastly different opinions about the god of mischief.

"...he isn't as bad as people say, though," she said, quickly. "He employed me so I wouldn't have to work at the Den of Dionysus, a strip club, anymore. He's a good friend. ....he's a good person." Yes, she was a bit protective of Loki. She assumed people would think the worst about him, as many people she'd encountered had.

"...are you Asgardian?" she asked.

For a moment she forgot how to breathe. And almost forgot she was not one to outwardly show feelings. She sank to her knees, breathing deeply. "Loki is here?" she asked, slowly, and for the first time in a long time she felt like the world had done her something good.

She regretted her vulnerability about ten seconds later. And desperately wished she could touch the woman and erase this from her memory. She did not want anyone to have ever seen her breakdown like this. ignore the fact it wasn't really a breakdown.

"I did not think I would ever see him again. The Norns might actually be kind for once..." she waved a hand, forcing herself to her feet, swallowing hard. "Of course, he is a good person. He is a better person than I." her tone had stuffed the vulnerable down and taken on her confident air once more. "He's a clown, but he's a good man."

Together.

Maybe this was what Fate had in store.

Nora was quiet for a moment, as the blonde reacted to her words. "...Sylvie?" While Loki hadn't mentioned the woman in quite some time, Nora remembered the name. She had a feeling that this could very well be that woman. Sylvie. Someone who was obviously important to Loki. And someone who apparently thought highly of Loki.

"Come on," she said, motioning in the direction of the apartments. Out of the forest. "I'll take you to him. ...if you want to see him, that is."

She had to laugh a bit at the fact that the other woman had called Loki a clown. "Well. Can't exactly be the god of mischief and not be a clown, now can he?"

The fact the woman knew her name meant the Loki that was here was one who knew who she was. That was another good thing. She let out a breath then nodded, "I'm Sylvie, yes." she sheathed her sword as she shook what she felt were cobwebs out of her head.

"If I want to see him?" she thought that was the single dumbest thing she'd heard all week. "I absolutely want to see him." she had so much to say to him. So many apologies to make. So many things she had not said before.

She stepped towards her, while she was grateful she was not going to just blindly trust her. She had some trust. "Are you friends?" she asked as she got close enough. Then a slow smirk. "I'm the Goddess of Mischief and I am not a clown, so it is possible."

"We are friends, yes," she said. "I was the first person Loki met here as well. I sort of... infiltrated into his life." She snickered softly at this. "He's very resistant to making friends, you know. Or, at least, he was in the beginning." Nora had a feeling that Sylvie already knew this, though.

She then blinked slightly. "...so you're the reason he thought I was a Thor variant in the beginning." She was assuming that Sylvie was a Loki variant and therefore the reason Loki believed there were Thor variants as well.

"Come on, then. He lives this way."

"Good. He needs good friends." he had had it so hard, not that she hadn't, but she was much better off than he was being alone. She was used to it. "He is, yes. Part of his charm, I suppose." a little shrug.

"Am I?" she asked, a brow arched upwards, head tilting as she huffed out a laugh. "The electricity might have been a clue to such a thing." she mused, she had noticed that.

She nodded, following her, keeping track of their path, though. Memorizing everything.

"He does need good friends," Nora agreed. "He has a few here, and I am glad for that. ...he is a very good friend himself. He decided that I shouldn't work at the Den and offered me a position as his assistant." She shrugged slightly. "I decided working for Loki was a superior job opportunity."

Nora grinned at Sylvie, "I'm assuming so, anyway. And yes, the electricity was my fault. ...sorry. The sword pointed at me made me nervous. ...also the hammer as a weapon made him assume I was a Thor variant."

It wasn't too terribly far to Loki's apartment, but it wasn't exactly close, either. It gave Nora enough time to talk to this Sylvie, at least.

"The Den?" She asked, not quite understanding but assuming it was something someone should not work at. She was not sure, but if Loki thought her working for him was better, then, that was probably a good thing.

"A natural reaction to having a sword pointed at you. Don't apologize for such things." She shook her head a bit.

"What does he do here?"

"It's a strip club," she explained. "I was a dancer." She didn't feel ashamed in that whatsoever, but she much preferred working for Loki. It was an easier job, and Loki was an excellent employer. A fair employer.

"Had I known who you were, I wouldn't have worried as much about the sword."

She considered Sylvie's question for a moment. "...he... is mischievous." She shrugged at this. "I had originally started working for him because I had been here longer than he. I knew more about how things work in Midgard than he did. So... he hired me."

"Ah, yes I know what those are." She looked around as they walked. Part of her liked Midgard. It was familiar. She liked familiar. Though she didn't want to get to comfortable.

Even as she walked she was setting her hope to the side. What if he didn't want to see her? Didn't forgive her? What if he wanted nothing to do with her?

Her mind raced.

"Mischievous isn't a job." But she sighed, because of course whatever he did was best described that way.

"No, mischievous isn't a job," she agreed. "But it's the best word I could come up with to describe Loki and what it is he does." Because that's exactly what Loki was. Mischievous. "He doesn't exactly have a proper job," she said.

"I think he just glamours his way around town," she told Sylvie. "I don't really ask him, as long as he continues to pay me for my work." She shrugged as she spoke. "He's a good employer. Fair." Which was kind of strange to say about the God of Mischief.

"I've become close to him," she told the woman beside her. "He's a good friend. ...you're not going to hurt him, are you?"

"Of course he doesn't." she mused as they walked, she even rolled her eyes. That sounded typical. She wondered what he could do here, though, and something that made enough to hire someone else on. It got her thinking. and that, that could be dangerous. She rolled a shoulder, and for a few moments forgot everything she had done in the last... well she lost track of time so maybe twenty-four-hours, but who knew.

"That... sounds like him." she said relaxing a bit. Ah, well, she didn't care. She had bigger things to think about right now. She could manage that later. Later when her head stopped spinning and she stopped internally worrying about what was going to happen next. None of that showed on her face, but oh, she was thinking it.

Sylvie stopped dead to look at Nora. "I... " have complicated emotions I never had before for him "Would not hurt him on purpose, though, to be frank, I did shove him through a Time Door the last time we saw each other. I.. did not want to hurt him or get hurt because of him." she hated this conversation already. So she started walking again.

"You didn't want to hurt him. But you were afraid he was going to hurt you, so you protected yourself first." When the blonde woman started walking, Nora started to follow her. After all, Nora knew where Loki lived. Sylvie didn't.

"I understand that," she said, after a moment. "It's human nature to want to protect yourself over others."

Nora understood that much, at least.

"The apartments aren't too much further."

Sylvie paused and looked back, "Something like that, yes." she shook her head, "I did not want him trying to stop me from doing what I thought needed to be done. In the process I wanted to protect him and myself."

She rolled her shoulders and looked up ahead. "Well, lead on." she gestured for the woman to go on. Feeling more lost than she had in some time.
